  1. Merry Christmas to all you scoundrels!
  2. I retired from football in November of 1990. Been working my butt off ever since. Tru storie
  3. The videos I saw didn’t show the entire aftermath, just the EMU player running in and cheap shotting a USA player while the band was playing the school song. The EMU player should lose his scholarship and the NCAA should ban him from future competition. As far as what happened after that, I would have to see more to comment.
  4. Daniel Swaim to Waskom prediction post from centex1 coming in 3…..2….1
  5. I’m not knocking the guy because they had a lot of success under him. However, it’s hard to get back into the game after being out of it for an even a couple of years because the game is constantly changing. The other thing is: does he really want to do it? If he’s in an administration position, chances are that’s where he wants to be. It’s a big deal to go from that back to the grind of a minimum 4 month football season where you work 16 hour weekdays plus weekends, combined with directing an entire athletic department including offseason programs. Hemphill really needs to bring in someone for a fresh start.
  6. How long has Upshaw been out of coaching?
  7. Yes they are. I’m sure there are some things going on behind the scenes that we won’t hear about until after the fact. This much we do know: the ACC doesn’t want to lose any more ground than they already have, so they will fight tooth and nail to keep the schools they currently have, especially the big brands like FSU and Clemson. The SEC and Big10 are putting on the act of “we’re not interested in further expansion at this point”, but they are watching things closely because those are programs that can impact all of college football, regardless of where they end up. The Big12 likely sees those as a big get that would help them gain some of the ground they’ve lost with the exit of OU and UT. Either way the domino falls, it’s going to be felt big time.
  8. Correct. Like I’ve been saying for years: the SEC prefers UNC and either Virginia or VaTech. This expands the footprint while keeping it continuous. It also allows expansion into the Charlotte and Washington DC/ Baltimore TV markets. They also don’t really NEED another school in Florida or South Carolina, as they already have large chunks of the TV markets nailed down in those states. The only reason for taking either of those would be to keep the Big10 from gaining a recruiting foothold in one of SEC’s hotbeds.
  9. Gonna need a pin drop. That should allow me to get back on my stand by 4:00 after I drop Doomer at the squirrel camp.
  10. About what time is it gonna be ready? Doomer and I might drop in.
  11. They’re evidently not going to West Sabine, because they dropped from AA D1 to D2. So where are they going?
  12. Well Doomer’s ex-girlfriend’s third cousin’s baby daddy’s fiancés second husband’s step brother’s former cellmate’s half sister on her mama’s side said they were gonna run him off cuz it took him too long to win a state. Tru storie
  13. Usually a drop in classification means you will go from being one of the smallest schools in your district to one of the largest. Most of their potential district competitors have similar or higher enrollments than Hemphill.
  14. Add the Hemphill Hornets to the growing list of programs looking for a new AD/ HFC.
  15. You’ve had 70 years and still act like you ain’t got no sense.
  16. A&M DL LT Overman to Alabama. A&M DL Walter Nolan to Ole Miss.
  17. That’s because he played on Wednesday night. It was there.
  18. It means as much to the kids who are involved, and to most of the student body and their parents at the bigger schools. And you also have a varying level of interest in the community in bigger towns. However, I’m pretty certain that there are quite a few people around Duncanville that don’t have a clue about the success of the football team. Not so in Timpson. By noon this past Wednesday, Timpson, Texas was an absolute ghost town. The entire community was immersed in the Timpson Bears. I don’t think it’s the same. This 4 year run by the Bears is the biggest thing to ever happen in Timpson. I don’t think you can say that for bigger towns.
  19. Hayseed told me he was planning on running noodles up on Murvaul Creek after squirrel season ends. Tru storie
  20. If they have kids, make them run a 40 and max out on bench press and squat before they get in.
