  1. I think both coaches have done a great job. Timpson's defense is based on penetrating the line and disrupting the flow, and they are really good at it. It will be a fun game to watch. Plus I get to talk smack to my boss all week. It will be a sad day for me if Timpson loses,LOL, he will never let me hear the end of it.
  2. I think Timpson defense is too quick, but they are still putting the ball on the ground too much. Timpson 28 Beckville 14..
  3. Does anyone have stats for the game? I would like to see how that matched up!
  4. The PI no call was correct. The defender was IN FRONT of the reciever and has just as much right to the ball. NO WAY MT should have wong the game other than two drives ALL TIMPSON!
  5. I'm going with Timpson in a tight game. If the Bears cut down on the mistakes.
  6. Good game Bears. Eliminate the mistakes and this could be a very special season. Score could have been alot more lop-sided in favor of the Bears.
  7. I think the Lobos will respond well. This is not a bad team, they need to settle down and play Lobo football. Longview wins 31-17 Go LOBOS!
  8. Ready to go watch my nephew play for the Bears. #22 Good Luck Michael !!!!!
  9. I'm pulling for the Bears. I think Coaching and turnovers will be the key. I give the edge to Timpson in coaching.
  10. A&M Consilidated downs the five time State Champions Lake Travis 30-28 at LT!!!! WOW! Consilidated QB and backs ran on LT all night.
  11. My nephew splits time at QB for Timpson, they seem to be getting better every week. FYI, he played at 5A LaPort before moving to live with his dad.
  12. I will ask him next time I see him. He is an old school track guy that keeps up with everything Longview.
  13. A friend of mine told me of a set of twins that moved in from Hallsville, supposed to play WR and be pretty fast anyone know about them?
  14. I don't know, he is not getting a lot of hype. so maybe something isn't just right.
  15. I remember when Willy Walker caught two late touchdown passes to beat Longview, I was a freshman and we had that game well in hand. That was a huge game every year in the early 80's. Flush that John at the pep rallys and games.
  16. I hope we can keep playing as many of the old district rivals as we can. I think he has several he is looking at, but no offers yet.
  17. JT will be loaded and probable ranked in the top 4 in 4A, but Longview will be loaded for bear on defense!!! I have no idea what is coming up from the 10-0 JV , but 8 starters back on D with 3 over 100 tackles, It will be fun to watch. Is JT on Longview's schedule next season? Defense(8) Sr. DL/LB Jalen Porter(5'11 210) 70 tackles, 2 sacks, 3 FF, 1 pass breakup, 6 TFL Sr. DL Cornellious Williams(5'11 280) 57 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 FF, 12 TFL Sr. LB Demarkus Lathan(5'9 190) 145 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 INT, 1 FF, 5 pass breakups, 12 TFL Sr. SS Cory Bartley(5'8 155) 126 tackles, 6 FF, 7 pass breakups, 8 TFL Jr. FS Stephon Maxey(6'1 182) 102 tackles, 1 INT, 2 FF, 7 pass breakups Sr. CB Davatric Cooks(5'9 168) 67 tackles, 2 FF, 6 pass breakups, 2 TFL Sr. CB Nakia Brown(5'8 170) 53 tackles, 1 FF, 7 pass breakups Sr. LB Torrean Sheppard(5'9 179) 66 tackles, 1 sack, 1 FF, 1 TFL Thats 560 tackles 10 sacks 41 TFL This will be an really fun group to watch and see how they progress and grow together as a unit! And sereral reserves to go along with that. If we had two DE's like JT had this year we would be set. Got any extra's laying around you could send our way =-)!
  18. You need to quit drinking so early, 50 on those guys! Now thats funny right there!
  19. Longview’s DeMarkus Lathan followed up a solid sophomore season in 2010 with a spectacular junior campaign in 2011, and on Thursday he was honored as the state’s top defensive player. Lathan, a linebacker, was named Defensive Player of the Year on the 2011 Texas Associated Press Sports Editors Class 5A All-State High School Football Team, and he was joined on the elite squad by four teammates. The team was selected by APSE members based on regular-season performances. “I’ve said several times he may be the best defensive football player I’ve had at Longview,” Lobo head coach John King said. “He has a knack for the football. He has quickness and strength. He’s a great tackler. He has great instincts. ...he just has all of the intangibles. We thought he had a chance to be a great football player, and he’s proving us right.” Lathan, who had 125, 10 tackles for losses and three sacks as a junior, followed that up this season (13 games) with 141 tackles, three sacks, nine tackles for losses, a forced fumble, two passes broken up, an interception, a blocked punt and a blocked kick. “He’s all business,” King said of Lathan. “He’s one of those kids you won’t see gloating about individual awards. He’s all about the team and about improving. He’s one of the hardest working kids we have.” Lathan was joined on the team by second-team offensive lineman Jhermikal Partner, honorable-mention receiver Eric Hawkins, honorable-mention linebacker Jordan Burton and honorable-mention defensive back Corey Bartley. Partner was the top blocker for a Lobo offense that saw its share of big plays from University of Arkansas verbal pledge Hawkins (41 catches, 994 yards, 10 TDs). Burton finished the season with 106 tackles, three tackles for losses, one forced fumble, a fumble recovery, four passes broken up and an interception. Bartley had 110 tackles, five tackles for losses, three forced fumbles, a recovery, six passes broken up and two blocked punts. Spring Dekaney tailback Trey Williams, who rushed for 2,420 yards and 30 touchdowns in the regular season, was named Offensive Player of the Year.
  20. I know we have 8 starters back on defense and 3 to 4 on offense depending on how King lists them, and some good lettermen about 28 or so. I know the JV went undefeted but I don't put alot of stock in the JV records. Some kids are moved up and the JV record does not always indicate how good the class may be. That is why I want to try and get someone who knows the lower classes to fill me in. I am a die hard Lobo and will never quit rooting for my BOS. I spoke with my brother the other day and he was sooooo disappointed too, but we have nothing to hang our heads about, and so much to look forward to next year. Please give me some information about our younger Lobos if possible. GO LOBOS!
