  1. Come on Mav. Don't over react. I never dragged your name nor did I ever say the Mavs don't schedule tough games. They do. But so does THS and I would say their schedule for next year will probably be the toughest in all of 5A. But that is what the coach wanted. I don't care about the past but the schedule THS had last year was almost on par with Marshall. I've always appreciated what you do for this site and have told you that many times. But you do say that every year. If that offends you then so be it. Chill out. And I support all the schools in the district unless they are playing THS. Even Whitehouse.
  2. You can replace University with Fayetteville Ar. State champs and undefeated from Arkansas 7A.
  3. Has anybody thought about this schedule that THS has? Murder. I know THS is very loaded this year but they could easily go 0-4 in this stretch. Stanford said he wanted a tough non district schedule and he got it. But it should make them stronger down the road as long as they don't get a lot of injuries. But on the bright side, Mavchamp can't go on and on about how the Mavs have the toughest schedule in 5A. Their schedule is a walk in the park compared to this nightmare.
  4. You bet it is. But I would guess there is a reason you choose to live on the Texas side, just as we did. But on a lighter note, that guy needs to go find a Arkansas school site and troll there.
  5. Beverly used to be a nice area until your homies moved in and destroyed it. Actually I don't live there and have not for over 50 years. I live in a house you could only dream about. Now, don't you have a shooting to go to?
  6. Isn't Arkie High playing some big powerhouse like Fouke or Genoa Central. Not much left of your lousy school or ghetto side of town.
  7. You don't read very well. I have no problem where they play the games. IT DOES NOT MATTER TO ME. However, I do have a problem with ignorant people leaving posts calling my home derogatory names. If you find that weird then that is the way it goes. My post had nothing to do with athletics. I do have a life and family and don't spend all my waking hours on a web site discussing a sport played by young boys. You might check that out, that is weird.
  8. And where I live isn't either. Don't know how old your kids are but just what opportunity is there for them in Carthage? Bet they leave for good after high school if they have not already.
  9. Whatever. If you read my first post I stated that Houston was very good to me and I love living here. Hell yes I'll defend it just like you do Carthage almost daily on here. Which I find to be a little odd, because as I said I've been thru Carthage many times. And to the contrary, why do you think I'm miserable simply because I defended my home against ignorant posts from people that have no clue. You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine. Just hit the scroll tab and move on if you don't like them.
  10. U.S. Census Bureau: Carthage Tx. population: 2010 6,779 2020 6569 2022 6380. Does not seem to be staying the same to me.
  11. Please, give me reasons why NRG is in a bad spot. Clueless post.
  12. Your post is actually very biased and silly. First , you lived in Dallas for years so I would think that you would feel that way. A lot of competition between the two cities. Your post about the Woodlands is waaaaay off base as these are your personal opinions, and like your rear end, everybody has one. The Woodlands consistently rate as one of or the top suburban communities in the country. They can't build fast enough for all the people moving in there. Doubt if the developers care if you like it or not. I went to college in the DFW area and I can show you some real rundown and trashy areas in the Dallas area. And very high crime. The area around the Cotton Bowl is a good place to start. Guess you didn't get out much in your 17 years there. If you feel Houston is gross then you are entitled to your opinion, however, you are in the minority. Over a 1,000 people a month are moving here, and Houston is a much larger city than Dallas is. Dallas always has to throw in Ft. Worth and every city within 100 miles to be as large as Houston. Heck, San Antonio is larger than Dallas. Yes, Houston has a lot of issues but that goes with being a very large city. You mentioned surrounding smaller areas. I live in Sugarland and it is as nice or nicer than any surrounding community in Dallas. Not to mention Pearland, Clear Lake, Kingwood, Cypress etc. That comment does not hold water. My first post did not make any comparison between the two cities. Just that Houston does pretty well without having the high school games here, and if they never come here again, so be it. Really doubt if they are much of an economic impact to the DFW area. However, not insulting you, when you mentioned that Houston was gross, I for the life of me can't figure why anybody would live in Carthage Texas. I've driven thru there many times and it looks rundown, depressed, no good paying jobs except for the good ol boy's club, a place where all the young people get out of there as soon as they get out of high school. And probably move to Houston. Where there is nothing to do but go to the high school games 5 nights a year and then head to Sonic before all the stalls are full for a big night out on the town. No thanks. Now that place is gross, and 99% of the people, except the ones that live there or were born there as the other idiot stated, would agree with me. Thus the population of Carthage is going down every new census. A slowly decaying corpse of a town going down the tubes and breathing its last gasps of air.
  13. Why would you feel that I am butt hurt? I responded with actual facts instead of your childish ramblings. Again, people in Houston don't CARE about high school games at NRG. Dallas can have them forever. Why can't you figure that out?
  14. Wow, guess you told me. Fact is if I were one of the careers that you mentioned in your post, I would still make more money than 90% of all the people in east Texas. But no, I'm actually very comfortable in my position, thank you. Not looking down on rural areas at all, actually from east Texas and still follow my old high school, however was very fortunate to get out of there while I was young enough to make something of myself other than working the evening shift at the plant. My post was not a comparison between different areas, just responding to a post from somebody who obviously had his head stuck in a very bad spot. Houston has been very good to me, plus I had a blast growing up here. Sure met a lot of people that moved here from east Texas. Wonder why that is since it is such a horrible place in your eyes. Sorry, but it is a world class city, with people from all over the world calling it home. One of the most diverse locations in the US. And despite what you and a few posters on Smoaky think, people enjoy coming here and having a good time. Conventions routinely return after a couple of years because people like it here. And maybe unknown to you, it is one of the fastest growing cities in the world. So think whatever you want, nobody cares. As far as the mayor and the judge, I agree with you, but they are liberal democrats so that explains most of it. In spite of these two, it still thrives. However, I live in Ft. Bend county (Sugarland) so I don't deal with any of it. Oh, and sooner or later the high school playoffs will return to NRG and you and your friends can post about what a horrible place it is and time you had here. 99.9% of the people here, including myself, don't care and simply consider the source it came from.
  15. As long as Super Bowls, Final Fours, Wrestlemania, top stars in the world at the Houston Livestock Show find it to their suiting, then that is all that matters. Reread my post, yes we really don't care if high school football comes here or not.
  16. Whooooosh, the sound of my post going completely over your head. FYI, I never eat at Whataburger. Dog food. Plenty of locally owned hamburger joints here to spend my money. Now listen to Ma, get out there and check the anti-freeze in the tractor, gonna get cold.
  17. Your post reeks of ignorance. Saying that a world class city with more fortune 500 companies located there than anywhere but NYC plus the top medical center in the world shows that you're nothing but a briar. Houston has bigger fish to fry than worry about a bunch of yahoo's coming to town to stay at Motel 6 or La Quinta for one night and spend 15 bucks at Whataburger. FYI, the final 4 is being held in the armpit and that S hole stadium that has hosted 3 Super Bowls. Houston competes with NYC, LA, Chicago etc. to attract the largest conventions, not a bus load of minimum wage earners from God knows where in Texas. AT&T can have high school games forever, nobody here gives a rats rear end.
  18. Actually in Dave Campbell's Texas Football THS is ranked #4.
  19. Future also bright for THS. Some good sophs on this team.
  20. As they said on the radio, Mavs are a tough team, but THS coming off bye week and it was senior night with a lot of distractions. They have not seen this offense, but now they have and will be able to prepare for it next time. Good luck to both teams down the road.
  21. Guess you could see this coming after the last two years. Probably a good time to end it. AHS is dying over there. Remember back in the 70's when they played Little Rock schools, Ft. Smith, Fayetteville, Jonesboro and so forth. Now look at who they play. At the rate they are going they will end up as district mates with Fouke and Genoa. Any athlete with any kind of chance of moving up will transfer to one of the Texas schools. Other than the liquor stores not much left over there. But when I was at THS in the early 70's that was the only game we really wanted to win. Even if we lost every other game. The winning team would yell that score out the rest of the year. My senior year we lost 2 games. To AHS which won the Arkansas state championship, and to John Tyler and Earl who won the Texas state. We had JT beat if not for our idiot safety that fell for Earl Campbell throwing a touchdown pass. Still remember the clown's name. Went to a THS/AHS game when Mallet was playing and the game did not sell out. That was one crazy, wild week when I was a kid in Texarkana. Who will be their big rival now? Oh well, the memories and life will continue to move on with or without it.
  22. Agreed. I just thought the comments about not being able to have a passing game were a little off base. This quarterback has been a very good passing qb thru his years at Texas High. And when you stack the box you open up the passing game. Lets hope that they have a good run in the playoffs.
