  1. What happened to the TH qb that started the season? Was his name Clack or something like that?
  2. I agree about talk radio and twitter. However, a lot of talk from sportswriters and writers was which I was referring to. They knew the bullpen was bad and what do they do, bring in Lariano. The bp was bad two years ago. They have a very small window of opportunity and they are going to blow it. They keep the crappy manager and then the players bolt via free agency and we start the process over again. You or anybody else will never convince me that Jim Crane is committed to winning the World Series. Like Drayton McClane, John McMullett, and others they make their millions and move on and we are stuck with another rebuilding job. Again, it was not parting with their young talent that stopped them from making the necessary moves to improve the bp, it was Jim Crane's wallet.
  3. Guess I've lived here too long and been through this time and time again. I've only made a few posts on here the whole season, just knew, as did all fans down here knew, that this would happen again. Living in Houston you get a lot different perspective than you do in Texarkana. They don't even cover the Astros up there so I hear a lot of things in the press that you never hear. But I'm just as big a fan of them as you are.
  4. And I gave him credit for that, however he pulled him too soon because you knew the bp was going to blow it, and they did. I think you should go online to chron.com and check out what is being said about him down here. Or listen online to 790am and hear what is being said. The Beltran situation proves my point, he is right and everybody else is wrong and I'll keep Beltran in the game because I can. I guess we agree to disagree. Hinch is an idiot and they will never win anything with him at the helm. But as I said, he does not cost much and is a yes man.
  5. The game yesterday is on Hinch. I will give him credit for starting McCullers when I thought it was wrong, but then he pulls him after 80 some pitches for the god awful bullpen to finally determine the loss. He is too erratic and he seems lost. They said that Verlander told him he was going to whip his butt if he tried to pull him the other day. A pitcher could have a no hitter and Hinch would pull him after the 7th inning. If you remember, the same thing happened when they played the Royals in 2015. No, the lack of hitting is not on Hinch, but he is not innocent, and I would hope when they blow this series that the Astros make a change. Also time to cut ties with 3 or 4 players. Also, have not heard too many compliments on Hinch through the summer on this site. He is OK for the regular season, but the playoffs are a different monster. And what was said earlier in the year about great pitching in the playoffs versus good hitting. Pitching wins everytime.
  6. The Astros already announced huge ticket price increases for next season. Some as much as 35%. Crane already has one of the lowest payrolls in MLB. The city and the county paid for their stadium. Marwin Gonzalez is up after next season, they said on TV he will ask at least 20 million per year. Crane is a carpetbagger and represents the typical sports owner in Houston. Just look to history. Look at the way the Baylor grocery bag boy ran the team. He always said Houston was a small market and could not compete with NY, LA . etc. Really, the 4th largest city in America and soon to become the 3rd. You would think a franchise that has never won anything in almost 60 years could wait till they win something before they run up ticket prices for Crane's pocket. The Astros really are the 3rd most popular team here unless they are in the playoffs. You don't have to look very hard for tickets. Too bad we can't get a Houstonian to own the team and really wants to win, and get a real manager. The Astros already announced huge ticket price increases for next season. Some as much as 35%. 7. They better hurry up. Like I said before Jim Crane is NOT going to spend any money to resign any of these players when contracts come up. If you think he is you've got rocks in your head. The Houston sports curse is alive and well and history speaks for itself. Like the guy on TV from NY said the other day. Houston is known for traffic, heat and humidity, natural disasters, and chocking sports teams.
  8. Pretty much predictable. Its like he is just throwing the game away. McCullers has stunk since the all star break, why would he change now? Unless the bats come alive it will be 2-2 tomorrow night. Guess Hinch does not want to hurt McCullers feelings. Should start Peacock. Again, they've won in spite of the idiot Hinch.
  9. Marshall by 17. Greenville has not played anybody, but happy for those guys anyway.
  10. Hey Mavchamp, I remember when I was a very young child my dad drove me down to Marshall from T-Town to watch Texas High, who was number 1 and undefeated in the state battle the also undefeated Mavs at the old Maverick stadium. Don't recall where that was. At halftime while getting snacks but who do we see from a distance but ol Y.A. himself. There was a crowd around him and I was too shy to speak to him but what a thrill. I remember that old picture of him in a NYG game bloodied and dazed with his helmet knocked off. Will never forget that. This was in 1965.
  11. So Mavchamp, does this mean that Marshall and Texas High have played their last game? Sad if that is true. Looks like the Tigers are getting a royal screwing. Maybe one of the reasons Norton left to Arkansas.
