  1. From what I understand, that was the first game they were without their starting QB.
  2. If the game comes down to a field goal, I like Redwater's chances. My boy kicked a 45 yarder with about 10 to spare in the Jefferson game. Had to brag a little.
  3. At 10-0 record is intimidating and demands respect...no question. If I was a betting man, I'd probably put money on MV. Cheering for RW all the way, and the district now. I feel like RW's district if they all played again....WO still goes 5-0 RW,Jefferson,HS are all a toss up who wins the second time. Good luck to the young men who play on the field Friday nights and entertain us old guys that can only dream of playing again...:)
  4. Minus the turnovers......which I know are part of the game.....Redwater is 9-1 this year IMO. Laugh all you want but I really think that. They lost to Elysian Fields, Hooks, Hughes Springs, Jefferson, White Oak. White Oak honestly was the truly superior team. RW fumbled 4 times in that game and still managed to put up 42 points. Elysian Fields - RW fumbled 9 times and lost 8 of them. The score was still something like 32-20. EF was not dominate....RW just never held on to the ball. Hooks - RW up 19-0 at half....dominated the first half. Second half...RW drives for another TD and fumbles. Never scored again. To Hooks Credit...that gave a spark of life. RW still has a chance to win with a 30 yard field goal at the end. Snap is bobbled and the kick was never taken...game 20-19. White Oak - IMO WO just took it to RW and truly was better...almost machine like. RW scored first to go 6-0 and then WO rattled off 28 straight points in the first qtr. Everytime RW would get a little drive/momentum going....fumble. I never felt as a RW fan, RW was going to pull this one out. Hughes Springs - to me...the most disappointing. Neither team could stop the other. RW is on the 9 yard line about to score with two minutes left in the game to go up. Un forced fumble between QB and FB, HS jumps on it...runs out the clock for the win. Jefferson - I truly thought Jefferson was going to run away with this game but RW played TOUGH. 4th QTR RW goes up 34-30 with 3 minutes left. RW kicks off, 1 play and 75 yards later and Jefferson scores. Then the fumble bug hits RW. Jeff kicks off, RW muffs the kick and fumbles it away on the 1 yard line. Jefferson scores. Jefferson kicks off again...RW fumbles the ball again and Jefferson scores with another very short field. 3 TD's in like 1:30. RW still fights back to score again to pull it to a closer game. Saying all that, to say that RW is a fourth seed, but they are worthy of being the 2nd or 3rd seed....and I'm not taking away anything from Jefferson or HS. To think that RW isn't as good as a team as Jefferson or HS is kind of a mistake. MV has never beaten RW. If they look past RW and think they can't play ball...
  5. My thought is this. I think both teams will have to play their best to beat the other. The thing that has me scratching my head with HS is they scored 0(correct me if i'm wrong) on White Oak and they had New Boston score 30 on them. RW was able to put up 42 on WO and all but shut down New Boston. This is Senior night for RW so I think RW will be ready. Another interesting stat is RW hasn't lost at home this year. I think RW is as talented as HS based on things I have read. If HS can get in RW's head then that might be a deciding factor.
  6. Redwater vs. White Oak 7th: 12-22 8th: 40-8 JV: 36-34 I have to add that WO's JV probably only suited up 15 boys last night. At half time they were OWNING RW's JV 34-14. Redwater had no answer for the onside kicks that were a constant barrage. WO had a strip fumble that was ran back for a TD. Then gets the ball on an onside kick and drive down the field, fumble, and it bounces right into a running WO player for a TD. I think WO scored 4 TD's in a span of 4 minutes. I have much respect for WO kids. Redwater gets the ball 2nd half and you knew the onside kick was coming. RW gets it and scores in only a minute and a half(34-22). WO takes the entire 3rd qtr and drives the field to turn it over on downs. RW couldn't stop them up the middle. 4th qtr hits, RW scores with 3 minutes left(34-30). RW tries an onside kick but WO easily covers it. WO fumbles on it's first play and RW gets it. 2:30 left. RW drives and scores with 2 point conversion to go up with 36-34 RW. Crowd for RW is going nuts. Game not over....WO gets the ball with 45 seconds left. Basically bombs the ball to RW's 10 with 10 seconds left. RW defends two pass plays. Final play of the game....the WO QB tries to throw a pass, decides to keep it, scrambles to one corner of the end zone, reverses field to run to the other corner, 0.0 on the clock, tackled at the 5 yard line and RW pulls off the wind. RW JV is 8-0 on the year. I will tell you though...I have never had as much respect for 15 boys as I did for the WO JV kids. RW JV was absolutely stunned the first half. Sorry to type so much folks but it was that good of a game.
  7. Redwater is better this year than they were last year I think. They still run the ball and will do their VERY best to keep the ball out of WO's hands. WO under the command of Hood is a very potent offense. I think if WO's defense can fly to the ball then they may very well take this game. Redwater has been plagued this year with turnovers. If they can hang on to the ball it could be a close game. If they can't, WO can take advantage quickly. What is WO's record? Who have the lost to and won against?
  8. JV wasn't close. Ran the clock the entire 4th qtr. RW subs went in middle of the third. 8th grade game there was no defense on either side if the ball. Sabine QB and TB for 8th we're really good.
  9. Redwater vs. Sabine 7th Grade: 22-6 Record 2-1-1 8th Grade: 44-46 Record 3-1 JV: 40-23 Record 6-0
  10. I'm sorry I'm going to miss this game. Redwater has a decent size full back that is stocky and powerful. Everyone has to wrap up to stop him...runs through arm tackles. The other two weapons that have improved as the year goes on is #10...a deceivingly strong runner and #21 who can fly with the ball. He is small but from what I heard the fastest kid on the roster. Redwater's QB is a smart kid who knows how to read defenses and deceivingly fast. That's 4 you have to watch for on offense. The "bomb" catcher is #8....not a lot of catches this year but has 'sure hands'. The other runner you have to watch out for is #22...he's about 6'2" and is an athlete. Redwater's Defense is the weak point. Small schools playing....no injuries please.
  11. We'll RW runs the ball pretty good. If Sabine is able to stop that, then RW will have a tough district.
  12. How is Sabine doing this year? Who have they played? Also heard that they went to the spread. Is that correct?
