  1. You think you're playing Heath again? I love it when people learn the hard way...
  2. JT will get their yards. But so will we. Most importantly, they won't win where it matters most...the scoreboard. Longview by 10.
  3. Not only will this game more than likely decide the district title, loser more than likely buys themselves a ticket to Beaumont for a first round date with Westbrook.
  4. FINAL Dhailon Phillips drops a hail mary TD pass as he fell to the turf. This is huge..
  5. In a game that will more than likely determine our first round opponent.. Lufkin 63 Beaumont Westbrook 70 :29 seconds
  6. I'd just run the ball up the middle if I was JT. Our LB's have been absent since at least the Lee game.
  7. Over in 12-6A..in a game that will more than likely determine who Longview plays in the first round... Lufkin 35 Beaumont Westbrook 28 Half
  8. Never said North Longview was growing as fast as South Tyler...just said it was comparable to it. I do agree that hispanics are a big reason for growth but more so for the Tyler schools than us. Longview is having less white flight, actually transferring or staying in the district. Look at our band, baseball team, etc. These programs are majority white. The growth of North Longview is a big reason for the increase in enrollment at LHS as well. White LISD Population past 3 years: 2013: 1825 2014: 1861 2015: 1890 White population may not be growing as fast as hispanic but it's growing. We will hardly ever be "ruled" or overtaken by the hispanic population....we will maintain a pretty diverse population in LISD and at LHS for a while. Lufkin pretty similar.
  9. Wouldn't be good for them that's for sure with Lee, Horn and Longview waiting on the schedule.
  10. Dude you're spot on, transfer ins are crazy right now. Hardly any transfer outs or "white flight" that was going on back in 2004-2006 that ultimately led to Longview going to 4A (current 5A) when snapshot was taken fall 2007. Everyone including whites are realizing the opportunity within LISD and this has been a consistent trend at least since 2010, maybe 2009. It's truly showing now though. As far as public outperforming private schools, I would say that's a Texas thing as a whole. You don't have to go to private school in Texas to get a quality education. Clearly not the same for states like South Carolina and others.
  11. South Longview and South Tyler are in two completely different directions. More comparable to North Tyler. That's our talent hotbed though. North Longview is comparable to South Tyler. Nice housing everywhere.
  12. Yeah, his numbers are off slightly. But if LHS continues to grow at the rate that it is, wouldn't be surprised at 3800. Longview as a city is also growing. Opposite of Tyler, our growth boom is on the cities northside. Forbes ranked Longview sixth fastest growing small city in the US...and it's showing within the schools particularly those zoned to LHS. LHS had an enrollment of 2260 on the first day of school this fall according to LNJ, which is up from 2188 that got us back into 6A/5A in the first place. That 2260 had grown another 79 students by Thursday of that week so LHS could be at over 2300 students at the moment. LISD is having to build another elementary school strictly for Pre K and Kindergartners because the elementary's are overcrowded. Hell our band is the largest that it has ever been according to our band director....300+ members. We probably had 140 members in our band back in 2010. https://www.news-journal.com/news/2016/aug/26/longview-high-school-enrollment-shows-increase/ Keep in mind that LHS enrollment consists of both LHS and LEAD. West Longview (PT) is kind've steady to flat, hence why PT isn't growing much if at all. But they aren't losing a bunch of kids either. Spring Hill lacks it's potential growth because most of the northside is LHS zoned but there is nothing but new housing around SHHS. As I said, northside is booming. East Longview is seeing growth as well but Hallsville gets all of that.
  13. Damion Miller for sure. 4 star WR. That's why I said technically it's him. lol
  14. And Spring Hill. lolll And all East Longview kids that go to Hallsville. But no thanks.
  15. Technically, Damion Miller. But everytime I ever saw him play, never was really impressed by him especially considering he's a 4*...be it 7 on 7 or real football. Malik Jackson at Lufkin is pretty good.
  16. If Lee and JT ever combined, which would never happen, the football participation numbers still wouldn't be anywhere near Allen's. Wouldn't be surprised if not even Longview numbers judging by how much Longview out numbered Lee a few weeks ago. And we all know JT usually averages no more than 50 on varsity yearly. Top end talent would be crazy but depth is everything.
  17. The simple fact that Chance Amie will be back + Clayton George having a full year under his belt, anndd the simple fact that many teams in this district are senior laden... Tyler Lee should be in playoff conversation next season.
  18. I figure it'll be more like 2005. Will be sold out for sure. Texas DQ Big Game Of The Week.
  19. Longview fans should keep an eye on Westbrook-Lufkin Friday. Will pretty much determine who we'd play in the 1st round.
  20. Said this would be our toughest district game before the season, I'll stick with it. No score prediction, but we win. I just hope we're not caught overlooking a talented NM squad. Because the week after, there will be cameras everywhere in Longview for Texas DQ Big Game of The Week against JT.
