If Carthage plays Bellville, you might see Carthage’s defensive line go to a 5 -man front on 10-15 plays during the game - 230, 305,305,305, 250. With all of them athletic.

Carthage fans, including myself, will yell about a questionable(or bad) call that goes against Carthage. But never heard them/us complain the whole game. P G had a grown man with a megaphone(or whatever you call the battery operated things like Sargeant Carter on TV used) that complained most every play - even encouraged the fans to yell with him in a chant to the refs).

To add to that…..#0 for Carthage had the hardest game of his varsity career - most yardage and pretty sure the most carries. Some people watching him for the first time might say he fumbles too much. Not normally the case and him getting hit hard several times and him getting tired probably led to a couple of those fumbles.

Well, #0 from Carthage has an offer from Georgia for a reason….lol. The other poster said Gilmer had no advantage anywhere, so I made the speed comment. #2 for P G is fast, but #1 for Gilmer is quiet a bit faster - state champion 100 meters last spring by about 0.3 over 2nd place.

One of my predictions is that Carthage’s #0 gets over 200 yards(running + receiving) and #22 gets over 50 yards. I think Little B will throw the ball the usual amount early, then more running the last 3 quarters - unless Gilmer pulls a Center and has 10-11 men within 5 yards of ball.

They should be confident, they are a good football team.

Just my view - 2 games in The Star were wild/crazy games that in my view, Carthage didn’t play their best. But against Waco LV, in my view, LV had just as athletic linemen but bigger and as good or better skill guys…..But Carthage played a great game(along with coaching) and won.

I would not be surprised to see him in the game more going forward - about the same at the TB position but more as the fullback, if in practice he shows he can remember plays at both positions, which I imagine he can. 20 carries is not going to happen without an injury to #0.
