I can live with that. I have no dog in the fight I bleed green (Cuero) and we had a down year but it happens. No one expected us to beat Wimberley in the last game of District or play Navarro to within a TD but our young team started to figure it out at the end of the year but like you said they had heart and mix in a hell of a lot of pride and you never know that’s why you play the game. Good luck to both team Friday but I’ll be pulling for our district to get back 2 back state championships. May both teams play up to their capabilities and it be an injury free game... there’s nothing like High School football in the state of Texas

Why is there always an excuse as to why someone actually scored on the Hawks? I see Carthage And Gilmer mentioned over and over but what you fail to realize is that PG has yet to beat Carthage and Gilmer isn’t the Gilmer of old. Any team can schedule a powerhouse and lose the trick is to get a win now and then. I’m not bashing PG by no means what they have done is pretty impressive but not giving The Texans a fighting chance is not very smart. I do believe the game will be Closer than expected. My guess on the outcome is ..... Wimbo with a shocker by 7

Yoakum's schedule has them ready for this game its been a building block for this moment. The game will be close but Yoakum will pull it out at the end. 28-21.

Whoever wins out of Geronimo Navarro and Cuero in region 4 div2 will give WOS a game. How much luck did WOS have running against Cuero 50 yards maybe? Passing was a different story as our CB's were freshman and Dallas ate them up with the long pass. So you saying losing Dallas wouldn't make a difference lol....yeah right. One year older and one year better for Cuero. Look forward to having the second chance to take you guys out.

This is from a poster on 3adownlow and it goes to show its a small world ..... Another Cuero/Gilmer connection I just got off the phone with Tyler Arndt's mom. They (she, hubby and Tyler) are in Virginia with Tyler for an official visit with the school. She said it is beautiful up there. Snow on the ground but not brutally cold. Anyway - they go for dinner tonight and introduce themselves to the people at the table with them (obviously up there with son's etc being recruited) and the man at the table is Stump Godfrey's uncle (I think she said uncle) So Stump and Tyler are both there this weekend. She said they met Stump and he is a very nice young man, and very quiet. The other guy in the group with Tyler and Stump is a WR from Maryland. She said his dad was a talker and he knew of Tyler from reading on message boards etc. She obviously has no idea how the weekend is going to go but she said they are having a good time and it was a good experience.

Agreed about the 83 Daingerfield team being once in a lifetime type team ... they were unbelievable :notworthy:

Since Daingerfields Stadium is named after a former Cuero Gobbler they have to have the advantage in this one :happy65: Mickey Mayne went to high school in Cuero where he played football and ran track before going on to play football at the University of Texas and professionally. Mickey Mayne was inducted into the Gobbler Hall of Fame in 2006 Daingerfield by 14

Gilmer is head and shoulders the BEST team in 3a ...nothing against A.W but the 2 best teams in 3a Div. 1 played last week . Buckeyes 2009 3A Div1 State Champions :notworthy: I hope our teams can play again in the near Future Cuero - Gilmer part 2 to be continued ..... Go Mean Green !

When I was approached by your local Police about where I was from and why I was at the super secret practice facilites of the Gilmer Buckeyes . I just told them the truth ... I was on the trail of our Famous Chuacabra and had traced him to that location and to not mind my tripod and camera pointed at the practice field that was just a precaution and was not on and the red light with the word RECORD flashing undrneath was in fact a trick I was playing on the Chupacabra because I knew he/she did not like to be filmed thus I was keeping the great town of Gilmer safe from the notoriously dangerous Chupacabra . :bye: You can thank me after you guys beat A.W.

I must confess I was the man in the Bushy knoll filming the Gilmer practices for Cuero . Must have been behind that tall oak relieving myself when #10 was practicing that super secret QB draw play . :banghead:

He is the one that yells Go Mean Green to the fans at the top of his lungs which is followed by us in the stands with a Go Mean Green in reply . You have to have a Starter on these yells lol .

The Go Mean Green yell has been going on for years long before Tyler was playing for us ....Mr Spencer is the leader of the yell *he's the one in a hardhat , shorts and a Gobbler Jersey along with his Cowboy boot's * hard to miss but he loves his Gobblers and has been leading the yell for as long as I can remember even after his son's were through playing . Good luck against A.W. I was looking forward to a rematch of our 2004 championship game when they kicked a game winning Fieldgoal with seconds left on the clock 17-14 they had a great QB at the time you may have seen him play Case Keenum for the University of Houston.Something about great QBs kills us :D Finish the job at hand Gilmer I want to at least say we lost to the State Champion Gilmer Buckeyes .

Thanks for all the kind words about our town and team . I said before this game this was going to be a great game and close . Our kids know only one way to play and thats 100% all the talk about *you never seen East Texas speed * made me smile just a little because I knew you guy's would be impressed by our team of kids that sometimes are not the best athletes on the field but just play football . I was equally impressed by Gilmer what a team you guy's have athletes everywhere . That QB you guy's have is lights out and equally impressed by your safety #11 ? who made some great hit's .
