Longview is lucky to still be in the playoffs (Lobo). That won't be the case in a few hours. Bye Sulpher Springs...on to Aledo. Good run. You should be proud. -

Welp...A little over 24hours until the game. After reading 18 pages of banter, I would say that these two teams are well supported. I truly love a one high school town. I would never want my child to attend high school in a town where they are just a number. Small towns make good kids, imo. Now, after evaluating all of the numbers I could possibly find, I want to amend my earlier prediction that Denison would win this game by 3 touchdowns. There is something about tradition and pride. SS has that. They are the champions until the scoreboard says otherwise. As I thought about that more and more throughout the week, I remembered the feeling that I had the night that Austin Westlake beat us in Waco the year after we won state. I was only 11 then, but I remember every detail about that night. Before the game, I thought there was no way we were gonna lose, and I think that is how SS fans feel. Well, when the 0:00 was on the board and we lost 17-0, I was in shock. I didn't sleep all the way home. I think that the SS fans are indeed in for that same, sad trip home. But, they won't go without a fight. My last thought on the topic until after the game....Denison 45 Sulpher Springs 35 See ya in Dallas. -

You may not be ready to lose, but come Saturday, you will. :) Seriously, I admire your team. For God's sake, they won state last year and are in the final 8 this year. Quite an accomplishment. -

On another game note... Parking. Does anyone know if there is a charge to park ? Last year, when we played at the stadium, I parked in a business lot and had no trouble.(But it was a night game and the business was closed.) Now that we are on the home side, I don't know where the best spot would be? Any suggestions ? -

You are saying that Denison has no defense ? Please, please tell me you are joking. -

Marshall 47 SS 7 on a neutral field... Denison 35 Marshall 26 on a neutral field.... And you are picking SS by 20 ?? You guys are delusional. Support your team, but be sensible. Your ridiculous score predictions take any credibility in your arguements and basically flush them. -

I'm sorry....I know you have to back your team, or in this case, your district, but the guy picking SS by 2 is a Marshall fan. Didn't your team just dismantle this SS team 5 weeks ago by 40? Not 4...40 !!!! Bad night or not, numbers don't lie. The only prediction I have seen by a neutral party is on texashsfootball.com and they have Denison by 17. I will say Denison by 14-20, as well. Are offense was stifled (we only had 35 points)Saturday by a very, very fast defense. Would you say SS defense is equally as fast ? I know Bryant Jackson is a stud and Dial seems to be a recruited player, but are we to believe that in 5-6 weeks the SS wildcats have transformed into this juggernaut from the team that was blown out in its own stadium by the team we just beat ? -

Dear Sufferin Springs, To you, Denison was but a spot on the road last year on your way to a state title. You didn't think of us once in the off season. You haven't thought about us once this season. You probably we're even privately hoping for a Denison win yesterday so you could play that little team from North Texas who is always overrated. Now let me tell you how Denison views you. To us, you are the team that ruined our season last year. You are the team who had the greatest player in the state. You are the team who started our offseason. We HAVE been watching you all year. We HAVE been thinking about you everyday since those numbers read 0's at Texas Stadium. SO....Here we are. Signed, The team that is about to unload on you. THE Denison Yellowjackets -
My first post on this site.... Marshall was a much better team than I gave them credit for prior to the game. Jammal is awesome. The OL is awesome. The receiving corp was the weakness. The defense was very strong. The defense was very fast. I was proud of that Marshall team. Your crowd was outnumbered 3 to 1. Your band is small. Your uniforms are atrocious. But you were the best team we have faced this year, hands down. I am officially a Maverick fan from now on and will keep an eye on your scores, each week. I will agree that the officiating was less than great. I watched the game again last night specifically to see the end of the first half. I have no idea why they ran the clock. I will say this...Whoever was running the scoreboard at that stadium should not be working playoff games. There were 6 times that I counted that the down-distance, or both were wrong. I gurantee you the scoreboard operator ran the clock, and the oficials didn't realize it and then weren't sure enough to go back and add time. There were several calls that went for Denison and a few that didn't. The game came down to will and determination. Denison wasn't going to lose yesterday. Wasn't gonna happen. I am so glad that we got that test in the 3rd round. That will propel us to the state title game. Again, congrats Marshall for a great game and a great season.
