  1. this is what I saw.

The boys didnt take care of the ball. Too many turnovers

Covering the pass was a chore. Too many big plays

    Too many untimely penalties

Pottsboro is a good team but I feel, overall, the Bears was the best team on paper. But hey, thats why they play the game.

Gwater coaches did a great job and the kids, most of the year, played well.

    Congrats to the Pottsboro.

So did you do that when Emmitt Smith held out for a bigger contract in 1993, and Dallas lost the first two games of the season after leading the league in rushing the past two seasons ?   Emmitt became the highest paid running back 26 years ago by doing that.  Jerruh needs to shut up and pay Zeke.

    Yes

Again, I don't give two cents about the NFL.

Too much greed, individualism, stupidity, egos, etc...........

Owners really own nothing. Players........., well the more they make, the more they feel they are above the law. Just watch the sporting news. Almost daily there is a story of some rich football athlete breaking the law and mostly, getting of the legal hook.

And to say my last words, the pro football dudes who retire and then go broke........ they make me sick when they go on TV and cry about how life ain't fair. Another definition of stupidity.

I am now off my soap box

  3. 7 on 7, to me, is a stupid game of tag.

Too many times ,in too many sports, kids are expected to play during the summer.

You wanna know why kids are burnt out and quit sports.

Its the schools fault for pushing kids to perform during the summer instead of having time to be a kid.

Good grief...... weights, 7 on 7, summer baseball, summer basketball, summer track, summer volleyball, travel this and select that.......DANG

Let the kids have time to rest up. Go fishing, have a vacation, a little break in the action. All work and no play makes Jack(Jill) a dull boy(girl).

Summer time for high school kids should be just that, summer time , not school time.

    Just my opinion

  4. Football was very good to me.

    Paid for all my college.

I wasnt the biggest or fastest. Broke a leg, hand, dislocated fingers, and one concussion.

Would do it all over again!!!

It taught me discipline(along with my parents and brother), hard work, dedication, toughness and committment. These are qualities most of the young kids today run from.

The decline in football is due to parents not letting kids grow up, giving them everything(or no support) and not making their child respect people, coaches, teachers, elders, or life.

Football today, jr. high, high school, college or NFL, is weaker due to poor attitudes and lack of committment. Too worried about injuries, concussions, and not always being the starter.

The great game of football is just a shell of what it was.

    SAD!!!

  5. Wow, took until the second post for someone to mention the football program and the Stadium. Congrats EastTXfootballFan on being the first! I figured on here it would come up often when it really doesn't make a difference now does it? Anyway.

The stadium is a big deal here in Pine Tree. I am for it. I think a nice stadium would be great for the school and anybody who has ever been knows it is one of the worst in East Texas, Sulphur Springs being maybe a tad worse. Its not a $20 mil stadium by the way, other things are rolled into the bond. Plus there is some other money coming in to help.

Look at this way, its not $60 mil! :)

P.S. I think it will be a close vote in passing, if it does. Right now the Vote No crowd is more vocal and out there than the Vote Yes crowd. So lets go stadium supporters.

New Diana will take any schools old stadium.

Before you cry about yours, come see ours. P.U.!!!!

  6. I remember a player that played for Kilgore back in the 1990's. I think his last name was Nix, and he signed with Notre Dame after high school. He was one of the best defensive backs I can recall that played at the high school level. He was a beast. If you are from Kilgore and remember him, I may not have his name right, but I remember him as the player.

This young mans name was Ronnie Nicks. Played free safety and would rip your head off!!!

Great person, heck of an athlete

  7. I coached this young man many years ago.

He will do a good job for Waskom if given the chance.

So what, he was a head coach in soccer. At least he has been a head coach!!!

    The boy knows football too.

Good luck to you, Whitney and congratulations to Waskom for hiring a good one!!!

  8. I went there for an interview.

The A.D. has picked "assistant" coaches from people on the teaching staff and said that I could not bring in any assistant coaches.

    Bad deal.

Do they really want to win????

The next head coach will coach with his hands tied. :banghead:

Kinda like the Dallas Cowboys head man!!!

    Good luck to T.K.
