  1. Mine is probably Bobby Taylor and Longview over Victoria in the '92 state championship game. Taylor took off from what looked like the free throw line and slammed a missed 3-pointer home with one hand. Looked like he was floating!
  2. Like I said, this one may get old, but, it's fun to debate!
  3. I know this topic comes up a lot. But, it's an interesting thread...so lets hear it!
  4. Positive note for Huntington football: Seen more Homecoming Queens crowned since '82 than any other East Texas school. Lol
  5. I think Greg made a "Wise" decision when he cancelled the Kountze game. Clearly a no-win situation for Yates!
  6. True, J'ville was ranked in the top ten. But, don't you think that considering they were the only undefeated team in 4A (every other team has at least 3 losses I think) and still barely ranked 10th says something? Yes it could be lack of respect, but, it's probably strength of schedule! I hope the Indians make it to the drum, so I'm not hating! But, this was no upset!
  7. JT beating J'ville at home...definitely not upset city!
  8. No, Boomer is right. There is a large seperation between 1A-3A and 4A-5A when it comes to hoops. And in my opinion, it's because the bigger schools have bigger players. Seeing a 6'4", 6'5", 6'7" frontline is pretty common when watching inner-city schools. It's rarely seen when you watch the likes of Van, Tatum, Laneville, etc.
  9. I understand wanting to get out of Austin early, but, you've missed some great games! Longview over Victoria in '92 is one of the best basketball games I've seen at any level.
  10. "Uh...uh, hey Beavis...Greg Wise is cool. Uh...uh. They should rename this website gregwise.com. Uh...uh"
  11. Be careful now Frito! Fiddler is a SDC favorite and very well protected by its members!
  12. You're right! My apologies to a very classy Cayuga team!
  13. I doubt very seriously that they break this press with ease for the entire game. If they shoot the ball like Villanova (circa 85 NCAA championship) they might have a chance. My guess is that I'll be buying you a beer at Shultz's afterwards for you to drown your sorrows! Just out of curiosity, what game of Cayuga's did you see?
  14. They can be the best shooting team in Austin, but it won't matter if they can't get the ball passed half-court on a very regular basis. How well do their guards handle intensive pressure for 32 minutes? That's the question that needs to be answered. Martins Mill is as disciplined as it gets and can shoot. And, they did pretty well with Yuga's pressure for 3 quarters. They were within 7 when the wheels fell off and it seemed like they next time I looked at the scoreboard, Yuga was up 20. I agree that skilled bball wins over athletic bball most of the time. However, in this case it's not athletic bball...it's super-athletic bball. Like in the case of the Houston Yates team, someone is going to have to play a near perfect game to beat either team. Going to have to keep the turnover number very low and the FG and FT percentage very high. Being an east Texan, I am obviously rooting for Yuga. But, it would be nice to see a close game. So good luck Spurger...you're gonna need it!
  15. From what I know they will be pretty similar to Martins Mill. Very skilled and disciplined. Hopefully, they will not have better athletes than MM. If they do, things could get interesting.
