  1. No doubt that it is a VERY far stretch. It is purely a seeding game now. You want to run the table in the conference so that you wind up in the low double digit seeds and not a 14/15 seed. At the end of the day though...gotta get right in 1 weekend in Katy or the previous 30 some odd games are irrelevant.
  2. I don't think the non-conference is good enough to get an at-large, but it should we be fun to see how close they could get if they somehow ran the table through the regular season conference slate.
  3. Starting pitching has been addressed. I'm hoping there is still a move or two or three in the works to improve the offense at key positions. Also now looks like the normal AAA signings with roster invites are going to be really important for the depth in case of injuries with as much offense as has been shipped out the door.
  4. Not just at Texas. Even at Houston, his teams were always prepared for the big games and not so much for the "wins" on the schedule. Hopefully Herman gives up full control to Yurcich completely, and he can do a better job of having the offense in the right mentality for EVERY game. IF, IF, IF (and I say that as big IFs) a Herman led team ever figures out how to approach every game with the same mentality (players and coaches, effort and scheme) he could put together a championship caliber season.
  5. Here are my thoughts on it... The guy can obviously have his team ready to play the "big" games. At some point down the road he has a chance to get it right with his assistant hires (while also removing himself from "OC" duties) and they will be able to eliminate the lackluster games against lesser opponents.
  6. Oregon Oklahoma App State Central Michigan FAU Memphis LSU Boise State Clemson Ohio State *Tiebreaker: 45
  7. Was disappointed after the Rutgers loss. Was obviously on cloud 9 after the performance against Duke. Pleasantly surprised with thumping Arkansas State. Don't let me down now Jacks, everything else is crumbling around me (UT football, Cowboys etc)
  8. OC: I will gladly push 11/1/2008 to the back of my mind for Graham Harrell. Success at North Texas (look how far the have dropped this year). Success at USC (may have saved Helton's job). Former TXHSFB stud. He may flop at UT, but atleast Texas would go down attempting to play with athletes in space, and not the 12 personnel disaster that takes a special talent at TE to work with how Herman wants. DC: I don't really have a wish...but Ash seems to be the front runner/foregone conclusion.
  9. Mississippi State Texas Nebraska Washington TCU Ohio State Alabama Wisconsin LSU Arizona State *Tiebreaker: 63
  10. If everyone holds serve (as college football goes we know this is unlikely, but still), I think the Oregon/Utah championship game winner will leap frog Alabama into the top 4. If Georgia knocks off LSU in the SEC Championship, I think LSU and Georgia will both be in. If one gets left out of those two, it will be LSU.
  11. Georgia Tech Stanford Ohio State Oklahoma State Georgia Texas SMU Nebraska Kansas State Cincinnati *Tiebreaker: 10
  12. In 2017 Texas beat Baylor 38-7...In 2018 Texas beat USC 37-14...in no other game against Power 5 competition has UT won by more than 2 scores
  13. Ohio State, LSU, Clemson, Baylor, Minnesota, Oregon, Penn State, Oklahoma, Utah, Georgia
  14. Let's play a game...without looking up the info...rank these teams Team A-SOS: 70 Record: (9-0) Scoring Margin: 16.9 Team B-SOS: 13 Record: (9-0) Scoring Margin: 24.4 Team C-SOS: 58 Record: (9-0) Scoring Margin: 16.3 Team D-SOS: 71 Record: (10-0) Scoring Margin: 33.8 Team E-SOS: 34 Record: (9-0) Scoring Margin: 42.4 Team F-SOS: 41 Record: (8-1) Scoring Margin: 19.4 Team G-SOS: 30 Record: (8-1) Scoring Margin: 21.2 Team H-SOS: 52 Record: (8-1) Scoring Margin: 20.8 Team I-SOS: 47 Record: (8-1) Scoring Margin: 19.6 Team J-SOS: 23 Record: (8-1) Scoring Margin: 19.2 Team K-SOS: 54 Record: (8-1) Scoring Margin: 19.3 Team L-SOS: 64 Record: (8-1) Scoring Margin: 11.7 Team M-SOS: 69 Record: (8-1) Scoring Margin: 13.4
  15. Bingo! Here is hoping that they jacks have success...because WRJ is a much more exciting place to watch a game when the crowds are large.
  16. I may be in the minority...but I really think Leach could work at Arkansas. If we are being realistic, the fact that they are in the SEC means that if they can find a way to be 7-8 wins a year they are going to be ranked at the end of the season more times than not. Especially if it's 8 and almost a definite if it is 9. With the SEC scheduling, Arkansas under Leach could all but guarantee themselves 4 wins a year in non-conference and then hone in on 2-3 wins a year in the SEC. Missouri being their permanent cross-division rival is very doable. The Mississippi schools being in the West is doable. 2-1 against those 3 and you could never beat Alabama, LSU, Auburn or A&M and still make it to a bowl every year.
  17. Read on the athletic that AD basically said he pulled the trigger because football players didn't seem to enjoy their saturday experience any more, and that they were no longer competitive after letting the Kentucky game get away from them.
  18. Correct...but you said it best in the first 4 words..."a mid-to-lower"...this matchup deserves better than that in the eyes of many
  19. Everything I've read says that he was all in on it. That's why I think he is ready to leave Washington State
  20. I think this is the year Leach comes back to warm weather...he has shown in the recent past (Tennessee) that he wants to come back this way. Arkansas would be a good spot for him to land IMO
  21. USC Michigan TCU Notre Dame Georgia Virginia Tech Texas Minnesota Arizona State Oklahoma *Tiebreaker: 54
  22. About as good as a start as one could hope for the Jacks.
  23. After a sketchy 1st quarter, Texas settled in nicely. Defense finally played closer to what we thought we would see out of that group in the 2nd half. I'm curious to see if the upward trend continues, or was this a product of K-State not being quite the "explosive" offense as some of the previous offenses have been.
