  3. Warehime does not surprise me in the least. Special teams have been TERRIBLE.
  4. Yes indeed. But if Texas is going to take the next step those games need to be won. There is nothing wrong with 10-2 or 10-3 every year...it is extremely hard to win and win consistently. BUT Texas should not settle for being OK with being 2nd place every year.
  5. @ LSU early and @ Oklahoma State late are going to be 2 tough games to get wins. Otherwise, I think the schedule sets up pretty well.

  7. I think the play calling has as much to do with the run game success/lack thereof for certain RBs as anything. Against OU...Ingram and Johnson had 1 carry, while Ehlinger either had a rush or a throw on 9 plays and Duvernay had a rush. No offense is going to be successful when 75% of your offense is running through 1 person, I don't care how good he is. The 2nd quarter wasn't much different...13 plays for Ehlinger, and 1 each for Ingram, Johnson and Duvernay. 3rd quarter was marginally better...19 for Ehlinger, 5 for Johnson and 1 for Duverany. 4th quarter...24 for Ehlinger, none for anyone else. 65 attempts (throws and rushes) for Ehlinger 8 for Johnson 3 for Duvernay 2 for Ingram 83% of the plays go through Ehlinger...thats not a recipe for success against good football teams.

  9. I've heard on more than 1 occasion on broadcasts, that Johnson is saying he is going back to QB as soon as the year is over...although Saturday that narrative changed to "im a running back right now"

  11. As for the actual game...SFA let a grand opportunity slip away to break the streak and possible go on a run of their own. 7 turnovers (and I think all gave Sam a short field) were back breaking. Energy in NRG completely changed on the pick 6 in the 4th quarter. Then SFA got the ball back...was a great chance to put a drive together and put the game out of reach. Was disappointed that SFA went away from the run game. At 1 point Ward was 12 carries for 96 yards. Yet Self threw it over 50 times and was under constant pressure all game long. Thought the SFA defense played great. Kept Sam in check for large portions of the game. Sam had to resort to trickeration (which was disappointing to see it work) to get going offensively which is always a good sign for your defense playing well.
  12. I was typing mine as you posted yours...I tend to agree, I think this moves us closer to a "power 5" division in and of itself for football.
  13. I don't know that this will have as big of an impact on the talent dispersion as might be expected. Teams like UT, A&M, Bama, Georgia, Clemson, OU, Florida, FSU, USC, Oregon etc. aren't recruiting against the G5 teams of the world for kids to begin with. I think if anything, this could lead us closer to a new football division being created where the "Power 5" break off (or the group of 5 break off) and form their own championship.
  14. It is all about the health of the sport as a whole. FCS plays a vital cog in the collegiate football wheel. Is it as glamorous as FBS? No. Is it the same money maker? No. But it serves a role in the health of the game. It is opportunities for a ton of coaches/players/support staff that would not be there without the FCS. So it's a little bit of FBS schools taking care of the sport by playing these games.
  15. Guys...FCS is Division 1. Think of it like this. UIL football is split (except 6A) into #A-1 and #A-2 each with 16 districts and 2 different state champions. Then you get into basketball and it is just #A and 32 districts and 1 state champion. Same concept between NCAA Division 1. Football is FBS & FCS w/ 2 different national champions. Basketball is just Division 1 with 1 champion.

  17. Well the Rangers made a good run at it. IMO its going to be a huge offseason for the club and several "key" players. This offseason has a big impact in how the next 3-5 years of the club go!
  18. Barring an upset (either by A&M or of A&M) this year is going to be tough to judge the Aggies due to their schedule. Either they are playing teams that are very average to awful (Texas State, Lamar, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, UTSA, South Carolina) or they are playing teams that are well above average to elite (Clemson, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, LSU). They could go 7-5 and we won't know whether they are a top 50 team or a top 15 team. They literally do not play anyone that we could say is a fringe top 25 team to get an accurate read on where A&M falls. I think we'd all agree that those 5 probable losses (Clemson, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, LSU) are 5 of the top 15 teams in the nation. And we can also probably safely agree that none of their probable 7 wins (Texas State, Lamer, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, UTSA, South Carolina) will crack the top 50.

  20. Thought the defense did a good job of bowing their necks when it game gut-check time. Was frustrated with Orlando's scheme to stop the run game. Offense played pretty well. Sam is a stud. Ingram played really well. Duvernay is playing his way into a nice NFL career. It never fails that wonky things happen when playing OSU. Was glad to see them put it away late with that run by Ehlinger. I couldn't get 37-36 out of my mind.
  21. I agree, spread the ball around, get the run game going etc. But moving him from the QB spot makes zero sense to me. With him there, you have the threat to throw in any situation (1st & 10 to 4th & 1). You have the threat that he could run it in any situation. I'm sure opposing defensive coaches have picked up on UT saving Ehlinger as well. But the threat of what he COULD do, makes defenses have to have that outlet accounted for on every play. If you put someone else at QB, you are eliminating what COULD be an option on any given play and letting the defense focus in on 1/2 things.
  22. 2 Thoughts 1) I am not a fan of any wildcat formations as long as we have Ehlinger. He is hands down our best player on offense. Why take the ball out of his hands on any given play? 2) I think this is a huge game for Texas. Need to show that getting torched by Burrow and company was as much LSU's improvement and not a sign of things to come in conference play.
