  1. I heard that Evadale has a cousin of Andrew Black from Chapel Hill on the team. Is he on par with him? If so, I'll take Evadale.
  2. Kilgore will not have to pass. Carthage cannot and will not stop them from running the ball. 78 will make your Dline look in the bleachers for their mommies.
  3. Traylor breaking a rule..... say it ain't so.
  4. I have a question. Not a McFarland hater. Just wondering due to all of the talk about how he was shafted by WHISD on here and in the local media. If he was a great coach, then why wasn't he picked up by another program? Was it because he decided to just coast into retirement? Or was it due to some behind the scenes issue that is legit? Or was he blackballed by the WH sup.? It just seems strange to me that he didn't get another head job. Henderson comes to mind for me. It is close enough that he would not have to relocate, per se. I know the Marshall people were wanting him as well. This all seems a little weird. A coach with his credentials ending up as a DC at a small private school? Unless of course, he is just coasting into retirement. Which I completely understand. Best of luck to WHISD and to Coach McFarland in the future.
  5. I've been out of town, Welllll....looks like I'm a "FALSE" prophet, lol. Good luck to all of 16-3A in the playoffs. I think Gilmer might be a darkhorse. Mark it down. You read it hear first, Kilgore: 2012 Division I State Champs!!!!...with 1 loss. Crow is tasty when prepared right!!
  6. I've been gone working. Didn't get to see the game. But,..... I told you so. Kilgore will be the undefeated district champs after next week. I called it way back in the spring and everyone jumped all over me. It's ok, I knew it all along..... Now just to get those lottery numbers right!!!
  7. Here is some game talk for you: Kilgore's strength is its defense. Teams have struggled to move the ball against them. A passing team will have its best chance against this defense. A run oriented team will be doomed to failure. Offensively Kilgore will throw just enough to keep you honest. They will cram the ball down your throat with a variety of backs with different sizes and speeds. Need to pound you with a big back,.. got him, need to have a change of pace back,.. got him. Henderson's strength from what I have read is Monsta, is that his real name? One guy will not make it against this Kilgore team. I have not seen any stats where Henderson is a passing team. Henderson's defense has given up a few points this year, so it is may be average to a little above average. Therefore, Kilgore rolls. Kilgore has the better defense. Kilgore has the better running backs. Henderson may have the better playmaker, but he hasn't faced this defense. We will see Friday night. Like I said in January..... Kilgore: undefeated district champs.
  8. Just curious, with everyone hammering the OC and Black, what is the defense giving up per game in district. Seems like those 2 are taking all the blame for a bad team. By the way, Gladewater takes this one. CH is too small and doesn't have any playmakers on either side of the ball.
  9. Do you hear it? It's the sound of scared Henderson folk. They know that their "3" year streak is coming to an end. That faint sound in the background is 'Ol River, you know the mule, warming up for the kicking about to take place by Kilgore. Henderson finishes district with 2 losses. Mule kicking commences in 2 days!!!
  10. Kilgore wins this one and the next. Henderson will struggle to do anything offensively. Kilgore will win this one old school Kilgore style. Stuff you with defense and pound you with more backs than you can stop. I will say this. Hope you guys make a run in D2. But your 3 game win streak is done!!!
  11. Looks like to me the whole team has "helped you all win none" Kilgore's QB completed 1 pass and they still dominated the game. Going to reiterate my position. Kilgore will go undefeated in district and has a legitimate shot at the state title.
  12. I said this at the beginning of this year and was told how ignorant I was, and that Kilgore would get introduced to 3A football. I guess I'm looking like a prophet now.
  13. That's funny right there.... Ask about his choice in volleyball coaches. lol
  14. Traylor coaching point. They can't call it all every play so do it and then I'll run around and act like an idiot when they do. Then the next time they will not call it just so I don't act like an idiot on them again. It has worked well for years.
  15. WOW!!! I guess CH being so close to Whinehouse is making them a little sensitive. Get ready for the Kilgore championship parade to march through all of 16-3A.
  16. I said it on another thread and I will say it again here. Kilgore out of district and Kilgore in district are 2 completely different teams. Bullard will not know what hit them this week. It will be ugly. I know everyone has a little bit of sentimentality going for Bullard, but it will be as bad a beating that they have ever taken. Both physically and on the scoreboard. Get ready 16-3A for the Kilgore march to the championship. I predicted it at the beginning of the year and now you all will see what I was talking about.
  17. Pitt got one of the best coaches in Texas, Rick Cullum. He will have the Pirates ready to play every week offensively. Good luck Pitt, I've become a fan.
  18. Not to beat a dead horse, but, Kilgore out of district and Kilgore in district are 2 completely different teams. They have an all-state linebacker coming back. The defense will definitely be the strength of this team. I thought they were going to be down 3 years ago and a soph, LD Anthony, came out of nowhere to rush for 1500 yards and dominated the ground. All of you guys that think Kilgore is going to be manhandled in 3A are in for a rude awakening. They may lose some games, but manhandled? Not going to happen. Like I have said before.... Kilgore WILL BE district champs!! And I wouldn't count out a state championship.
  19. 2-a-days start Monday. Want to remind everyone that Kilgore will win this district and its not even going to be close. To all of the other teams in the district... have a great season and look forward to the other 2 teams that go into the play-offs making plenty of noise.
  20. Gilmer had a kid playing linebacker that looked like he is going to be dominant in the fall. 7 on 7 is not a realistic sign of what is to come on Friday nights. How many of those 3 yard passes to the back where the noseguard will be, are going to be completed on Friday nights? It is not a realistic offense or defense. But, it gives the kids something to do and be competitive. Competition is always a good thing. Football is won and lost in the trenches just as much as with skill players. Good luck to all the kids of East Texas as they work hard for this fall. Enjoy your youth, it will end soon and a loss at a 7 on 7 tournament is not that big of a deal.
  21. Not really sure what that sentence means... But, instead of getting on LoboFan07's post and making fun of it, please post Henderson's championship and post season history. I am actually curious. And I honestly don't see where bringing other schools into this debate between you and the lobo fans has anything to do with it. It appears that you have and do compare Longview to Henderson often. Again just post the history for all to see. Until you are willing to put the historical facts on the table like LoboFan07 has, he has the upperhand on you.
  22. ^^^ This can be solved with realtive ease. LoboFan07 has placed at the bottom of his screen the entire championship and post season history of Longview's program. Lion70, place at the bottom of your screen Henderson's entire championship and post season history. Facts "should" end this debate. Although I enjoy the banter. And I am not from Longview or Henderson.
  23. The only way for a new coach to come in and evaluate his future talent is not only to attend every event of every one of his future athletes, but he should also schedule in-home visits to find out from the parents how they are expecting their child be used, his strengths and weaknesses, etc. Also while all of that is important, the new coach should also meet with each of the kid's youth sports coaches to find out how best to utilize that particular athlete's talents. I know this sounds exhausting but it is the only way to rebuild a program. Don't forget to go to the barber shop, coffee shop, local cafe, and post office to ask questions about each athlete. A file for each athlete must be developed and once all of this is accomplished the new coach has an idea on how he needs to proceed with his program. The reason so many new coaches fail in bringing glory to those particular communities is because this method of developing and using athletes is not followed. It is very simple, get as much information from everyone as you can on how to do your job and then follow the recipe to great success. Oh yea, I almost forgot, coming on Smoaky and gaining knowledge from its posters, (especially myself), will no doubt bring multiple state championships. Just my opinion.
  24. Hey Mike, If you want a job, then fill out an application. You don't have to come on SDC and post about it. We can't hire you anyway.
