  19. PLANO, Texas, October 27, 2022 – Once again, Ford and Texas Ford Dealers are recognizing the very best high school football stars in Texas in week 9 of the 2022 Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week program. Since 2006, the program has recognized outstanding student-athletes throughout the regular season. For 17 years now, the program has celebrated many future college and professional standouts during their Texas high school football careers. This week’s winning athletes join a long list of remarkable players recognized for their exceptional efforts. 2022 Built Ford Tough Player of the Week 9 Winners: Class 6A: Armstrong Nnodim, Junior DE, Horn High School Mascot: Jaguars Opponent: Rockwall-Heath High School Last week Mesquite Horn’s Armstrong Nnodim had a game most defensive linemen can only dream of. The junior stuffed the stat sheet and wrecked the game plan of Rockwall-Heath with 9 tackles, 7.5 for loss, four sacks, three quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, and the game-clinching pick six in a 25-14 win. Horn has secured a spot in the 6A Division I playoffs after posting three consecutive losing seasons. “Armstrong is getting better every week. He plays every snap so hard. That’s what helps him out. He plays 100 miles per hour. And he’s very strong. His physicality is what stood out.” * MESQUITE HORN HEAD COACH COURTNEY ALLEN Class 5A: Cameron Dickey, Junior QB/S, Austin Crockett High School Mascot: Cougars Opponent: Austin Eastside High School Junior two-way player Cameron Dickey put on an incredible performance this past week as he led the Cougars to a 4-1 district record. He rushed 8 times for 259 yards and 6 touchdowns. He completed 7 of 9 pass attempts for 2 touchdowns and picked off one pass for a pick six. He accounted for 9 scores and helped his team stay in the hunt for a district championship. “When Cam came to Austin Crockett High School in his 9th grade year, he had to wait to play on varsity until on his UIL waiver was approved. It took 4 weeks into the Covid season for UIL to approve his varsity play. During that time, he never missed practice, never complained, and was an example for the entire program. The Seniors were more upset about the wait then he was. When I got the email that he was approved to play, I knew he would be excited. So, after practice, I gathered the team together and reminded them of how he handled the wait, with maturity and grace. I pulled out the helmet stickers from behind my back and said, "Cam, Welcome to Varsity!!" The team started yelling and clapping, he got emotional briefly during that moment, because being on Varsity meant something special to him. Cameron is the type of student-athlete that takes pride in everything he does and doing things correctly.” * CROCKETT HEAD COACH DARRICK NORTON Class 4A: Kiefer Sibley, Junior RB, Connally High School Mascot: Cadets Opponent: Salado High School Kiefer Sibley was (Waco) Connally’s leading tackler on defense as a starting linebacker in 2021, he was also backup running back. Everything changed in 2022 as Sibley continues putting up eye-opening stats with 1,542-yards rushing and 20 TDs through 8-games with a massive chunk of the yards and TDs coming on Friday in the Cadets 56-35 win against Salado. Sibley carried the ball only 14 times but broke the school record with 426-yards and 7 TDs in the victory. One final note, Sibley is also the Cadets kick returner and punter. “Honestly, I didn’t think Kiefer had carried the ball enough at halftime and told our coaches he needs more touches, but I also realized his value and we shut him down in the 3rd quarter. Two of Sibley 7-TDs were 93 and 98 yards. He tries to outwork his teammates every day and most days he is successful at doing that and he never gets too high or too low. And despite all the success and attention he is receiving this season, Kiefer remains such a humble young man.” * CONNALLY HEAD COACH TERRY GERIK Class 3A: Bryson Washington, Senior RB, Franklin High School Mascot: Lions Opponent: Lorena High School Franklin High made an emphatic statement beating Lorena 49-35 in a battle of the defending state champions in Class 3-A. The Lions were led by all-state running back Bryson Washington who ran for 308 yards on 26 carries and scored 6 TDs on offense while recording five tackles and causing a fumble on defense. Franklin head coach Mark Fannin said the Lions are used to Washington coming up big when they need him to deliver. “It’s nice to have him in your backfield in big time games and Bryson had a great game against a very good Lorena team.” Fannin added, “Not only does he carry the football, but his blocking ability is outstanding.” Fannin raved about the Baylor commit as a teammate and student. “Bryson is one of the most selfless players I have ever coached and a great leader for this team. He is not only a special athlete, but a great young man and I couldn’t be prouder of him. Bryson loves the game, and it shows each and every Friday night.” * FRANKLIN HEAD COACH MARK FANNIN Class 2A: Darian DeLaRosa, Senior RB/LB, Bovina High School Mascot: Mustangs Opponent: Hale Center High School The Bovina Mustangs defeated the Hale Center Owls 32-14 and have put themselves in position to make a run at the district championship. This wouldn’t be possible without the impressive performance of two-way player senior Darian DeLaRosa. DeLaRosa filled the stat sheet this week with 31 rushes for 276 yards and 3 touchdowns and 11 solo tackles, 4 assists, 1 pass break-up, 1 interception and believe it or not a fumble recovery for a 46-yard touchdown. "Darian has been major part of our success on the field the past four years. He has been a two-way starter since his freshman year and has grown into an outstanding leader both on and off the field." * BOVINA HEAD COACH COBY EMERY Private Schools: Triton Moore, Junior DL/OL, Bishop Louis Reicher Catholic School Mascot: Cougars Opponent: Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Catholic School Junior two-way lineman Triton Moore isn’t a guy who is going to be the lead story with flashy highlights and long touchdown runs, but he is the type of guy that the other team must account for. And sometimes, even when you gameplan around an individual, their skill and drive allow them to still make a huge impact on the game. This is exactly what Moore did this week as Bishop Reicher fell to Bishop Gorman 30-29. Moore secured 12 tackles, 5 tackles for a loss and 4 sacks. He also was vital to the offense as he dominated at his guard position. “Triton is a leader on and off the field, he is a team player with a motor that shows it. Triton gives his all to the program.” * BISHOP REICHER HEAD COACH BILLY OVERSHOWN During each week of the 2022 regular season, fans, coaches, and media are asked to nominate players at FordPlayeroftheWeek.com <http://fordplayeroftheweek.com/> , as well as catch up with winners, view video clips of players in action and get the latest program details. Fans will be able to follow the conversation on social media by using #FordPOTW and share the recognition of these outstanding individuals each week.  Additionally, fans are encouraged to catch all the action on Bally Sports Southwest. The network is teaming with Ford and Texas Ford dealers to keep honor award winners through its weekly television show. Each week, television crews will travel to communities across Texas, spotlighting players who excel on the field, in the classroom and in their communities. The half-hour Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week program will air on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. How the program works The Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week program recognizes one high school student-athlete in six of the state’s athletic classifications each week of the regular season. Nominees must excel in three categories: * Individual performance on the field, including significant statistics from that week’s game * Contribution to the team’s success through individual leadership abilities * Performance off the field, including academic success and good community citizenship At the end of the regular season, Ford and its advisory board will select one student-athlete from the 11 weekly winners to be the Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Year in each classification. Following the championship games, honorees will be recognized at a banquet next year. Ford F-Series: The best-selling truck for 45 years Ford is the undisputed truck leader in Texas.
