Mount Pleasant went live Friday night and it was not very good in my opinion. I fully understand it was the first day in pads, but it may be another LONG season. Offensively we have most of our skill guys back, so that should be a plus and QB play looks to be slightly better. O-Line is very inexperienced at the Varsity level, but we lost a lot of size. Some around here will say that even though we were huge up front last year, they still were not very good. I will let others argue that point. Defensively we may actually be worse and that is BAD! Again, first day in pads, so the jury is still out. Only 3 starters back from a D that wasn't very good. Hope I am off with my observations. Numbers wise I am seeing somewhere in the 80's. Kinda sad at the 5A level, but it is what it is.

I can only assume, but I feel like all Smoaky followers wish they had a Mavchamp covering their respective Districts. I am impressed each year with the job you do keeping us all up to date with all sports! Thanks a bunch!

Baseball-Mount Pleasant beat LE 1-0, beat Brownsboro 13-7, lost to Atlanta 10-2 and lost to Jacksonville 11-5 over the past weekend. They sit 5-8-1 as District play gets under way tonight on the road at Hallsville. I have not found or seen much information on anyone in the District. What are some predictions?

Baseball-Way late, but this past weekend Mount Pleasant played in Carrollton Diamond Classic. Came away 1-4-1 and sit 3-6-1 on the season. Tied Wylie 4-4, lost to RL Turner 10-9, Lost to Frisco Heritage 8-1, Lost to Frisco Lone Star 5-4, Lost to Carrollton Newman Smith 6-0 and beat Carrollton Creekview 9-3. Mount Pleasant and Pittsburg are hosting 271 Classic beginning tomorrow.. North bracket is Mount Pleasant, Atlanta, Brownsboro, Liberty Eylau, and Carrollton Newman Smith South bracket includes Pittsburg, Arkansas High, Gladewater, Jacksonville and Nashville, AR

I can't find complete list either, but it should be in Texarkana Gazette in the next few days. All I saw was who made it from MP.

Baseball: Mount Pleasant beat Fort Bend Hightower 7-2.

Baseball: MP beat Van Vleck 13-6 and lost to Sealy 3-0. Sit at 1-2 on the young season. Go Cats and Tigers tonight on the hard court!

In baseball action MP opened the season with a 5-1 loss to Giddings yesterday. Up on Van Vleck 6-5 headed to the 7th inning at this time. Games being played in Sweeny and Columbia.

Mount Pleasant will play McKinney North at 7:00 p.m. in Paris Friday night.

MV beat Winnsboro twice in District Play. First time by like 15 and the second time was 6-8.

Basketball only school only pertains to the boys. CH offers everything for the girls. CH does not have a football program and I assume that is where the basketball only conversation starts. As to how many appearances they have in the regional tournament, I cannot answer, but it is very few and that same question gets asked a lot about the boys program. BTW-Sunnyvale is now playing softball with CH, so we will never know if either can beat Sunnyvale.

#12 Crane had the flu and is normally a starter. She is a freshman and did not start and only played a couple of minutes in the first half, came in for the first time with under a minute to go in the first quarter and scored CH's first two points of the game. She played her heart out in the second half. The other girl with the flu did not see the court and is a backup post player and a freshman as well. Congrats and good luck to Winnsboro against Alba Friday night.

Does anyone have the bracket for the Paris Boys Basketball Tourney that begins tomorrow? ETSN has the brackets for the tournaments in Longview (which has some pretty good teams) and Tyler Junior College, but I have not been able to find the bracket for Paris.

In Boys Action last night Texas High beat Marshall 70-60 and Mount Pleasant beat Hallsville 54-39. Any other scores?
