Right the coaches dont want to run on Saturdays. I mean just look at the evidence. Coaches work every Saturday during football season and usually Sundays as well. We go to basketball tournaments on Saturdays or have a practice or host an open gym. Then, track season rolls around and the coaches just don't want to work on Saturdays. Wrong.

oh my gosh...yes, detroit was exposed by a team that is now 10-1 lol. 20-14 early in 4th and detroit has a strip n score called back...the only thing exposed is that redinjun is a detroit hater n idiot.

As far as opponents records are concerned, half or nearly half of the games played are district games. The school had no control over those games. The remaining games are scheduled partially based on location, location, location. Another big factor is size of school. Neither school is going to schedule opponents in their neighborhood that are 2 and 3 classifications above them is size. Detroit played 5 non-district opponents in the classification above them. Now these schools may not have been powerhouses but nonetheless they are bigger schools with more kids to choose from in their program. It is what it is and some people for whatever reason choose to get on here and bash because of some problem they have with something involving the school.

Wortham likes to spread it out and throw it around quite a bit. It will be tough for them to stop #32 and #25 coming right at them. I am going to take Overton but they must take care of the football and play 4 quarters with the energy level they had against Detroit.

Detroit played very well last night. Just goes to show you that you never know what can happen. That is why you play the games. Detroit also played without one of their best players. I believe people were putting all their thought processes on the Overton scores. Early turnovers hurt Overton against Maud then the Overton kids got deflated and it snowballed quickly from that point. Early turnovers hurt Detroit against Overton as well. I just hope each of these teams have learned from their mistakes and represent the district well in the playoffs. Each team has the potential to do well when they execute and limit mistakes.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I am sure the folks of Malakoff could care less about what anyone else thinks. For you to say Malakoff is an average 2A football team, I would say you are not one of the individuals who knows anything about football. They are most definitely above average and it comes from good coaches doing their job all year by preparing their kids for success and the kids buying into the program and doing the work.

I do not like playing in a high school contest when one or more of the officials are alumni from that school or have children/relatives that attend the district. Some districts seem to always have one of these individuals officiating. Just does not seem right to me.

Detroit would have to win by 21 to force a three-way tie (given that Overton beats Union Hill). Then, seeding is determined by coin tosses.

This is the second time you have posted this comment. You should not be posting incorrect information. Locker room issues? If you mean making adjustments in our secondary coverages and to the full house backfield alignments, as well as getting on to a few kids for complaining about the officiating and pointing fingers at one another, than yes you are all over it lol. Most people call these things coaching not issues.

No excuses Overton deserved to win but let's not get carried away here. Score was 20-13 midway through 4th quarter. Losing the turnover battle 4 to 1, the long punt return before half and the dropped td pass provided Overton with the victory. Such is football. You win some and you lose some. Should be good game next week with Overton at Maud. Detroit has a good team and Friday was just a bad night. It happens from time-to-time. Again though, in the end, Overton was deserving of the win.

The officials told Detroit it was time to go. They went to their endzone, said their team prayer, started whooping and hollaring and took the field. No one had any idea Overton was playing their school song. As far as going to the center of the field, the kids were told not to but sometimes teenagers don't listen too well. It will be addressed and handled. Good job by Overton on the win.

Card88 and Eagle6 OBVIOUSLY support their home teams. You two can get on here and talk all the talk you want to talk. It really does not matter. I have a feeling neither of you will have anything to do with the outcome of this game. This game is weeks away and both teams will show up expecting to win no matter what their record might be. The records of each team, the scores of the games, scores from previous years and smack talk on Smoaky will mean nothing on November 9th in Detroit. Right now, Detroit is getting ready to play Union Hill. Period.

I know Overton has been playing some tough competition of late. How is the injury bug for them? Has the big back returned to offense?

HGs overall team speed is going to be the issue for Maud.

It has been my experience that most parents who have an issue with a coach it usually goes back to playing time or lack there of for their child, relative or close personal friends child...etc...etc
