  12. Through efforts of the Friends of the Mayfair, the saving of the Mayfair Building has begun. Join us TODAY (May 31st), 4-5pm at the Mayfair Building, East Texas Fair Grounds, as Tyler mayor Martin Heines proclaims May 31st., "Mayfair Day" and unveils an historic marker for all the contibutions the mayfair has made to Tyler. The building will be open to the public for viewing. Live music by The Magills, featuring music by Elvis, Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash and Dolly Parton, all who performed live at the Mayfair.

  16. ...another great Traces Of Texas photo: Well now, I don't know a whole lot about rock superstars U2, but I know they have good taste in burgers! After they performed last week at Houston's NRG stadium, they stopped at a Whataburger on their way out of town. Here are band members Adam Clayton (in a kimono?) and Larry Mullen, Jr. posing with police officers outside. Bono and Edge were presumably still inside scarfing down a double meat with extra cheese, jalapenos, and bacon. Thanks to Traces of Texas reader William Mitchell for sending in this rather amazing photo. I have always had this theory ----- based on personal observation ------ that you never know WHAT you might see at a Whataburger after midnight, and this just proves it.
