  1. Transitive properties don't always apply, but LJ beat common opponents more convincingly than Melissa. Melissa's #1 was based on beating a young Argyle team early in the season at home and an overall weak schedule. Lovejoy took an L to a top 5A-D1 team and SOC played big boy ball for their L's. Undefeated seasons look impressive until you realize you're a paper tiger. I had SOC #1 all season with LJ #2.
  2. 1 and 2 from both district will win. 3 and 4 will both lose. Districts will split 2-2.
  3. Lovejoy @ Crandall is the GOTW. Lovejoy pulls away in second half. Greenville over Poteet Melissa big over Denison Terrell / Princeton? I’ll take Terrell
  4. Lovejoy Melissa and the last 2 won’t be decided until the last 2 weeks. Probably Crandall 3rd, Denison 4th with Poteet as a dark horse. Lovejoy plays Crandall next week and Melissa plays Denison. If Poteet loses to Greenville they are probably done.
  5. Week 7 Lovejoy names their score against Princeton Melissa over Poteet by 14+ Crandall over Greenville (but could be closer than expected) Denison over Terrell in a closebone Crandall and Denison are on upset watch.
  6. Argyle is an incredibly well coached program with amazing community support. On paper in 2010 Argyle shouldn’t have won that game. They exposed some serious off-season conditioning issues at Lovejoy that haunted the program for a decade. Coach Ross has fixed the conditioning at the varsity level, but there appears to be a few issues in the lower levels. A high off-season ranking can be a curse. Argyle will come ready to play and won’t quit no matter the score.
  7. I listened to the Argyle Melissa game and watched the Maxpreps highlight reel. Does Argyle send multiple players both ways?
  8. Been busy and read what’s posted. Just haven’t posted much myself. Looking forward to this game.
  9. QB was here last year. Moved in from Cali and had to grind. The new QB is an old QB. Was at LJ 7-9 and moved to Plano 10-11 then came back his senior year. Last years QB is only a Junior. All three have different skill sets. LJ, Argyle and Melissa all have plenty of move-ins. Argyle and Melissa will both pass LJ in student enrollment within 3-4 years, max.
  10. Melissa got skull drug by Frisco Memorial (non-playoff team) last year and then a month later skunked Argyle 21-0. The jump from 4A to 5A ain't what it use to be with the division split, but it's still one of the biggest jumps. Both Melissa and Argyle have their work cut out, but Argyle was given the golden brick road to the playoffs. Melissa isn't in the toughest district, but with their rapid growth they should be OK and make the playoffs.
  11. I remember that night well. LJ switched up their O and D because 4 top players for LOJO were suspended. Celina borough the house. I thought Celina dressed out some Alumni, they barely had room to stretch.
  12. They have Seniors, mostly kids that wouldn't start at Prosper so they moved to Rock Hill. The program was slowed by Covid. They will get better as the season progresses. It's hard to start a new program in 5A. I would open early as a 3A/4A and let the school grow.
  13. I watched some Rock Hill on NFHS and they had some speed but made lots of mistakes. They look like a decent JV team at best. I picked Princeton, especially after I found out y'all were getting the majority of your players back.
  14. There were very few penalties, especially personal fouls. It was the least chippy game I've ever seen between Lovejoy and Princeton, so I assume the coaches had a sit down. I see what you're saying about the other dominate schools being close, but Lovejoy shares a very large border with Allen and we manage to get by. Yes, the big transfers go to Allen, but we work with what we have. Your starting O-line and 2nd string were some big boys. Lovejoy has never had that kind of depth. Princeton also has a perk of being affordable. Hopefully the Panthers start to turn things around, big growth is headed that way.
  15. I was told Princeton had 7 starters out. Very few teams can recover from that type of setback. Hopefully the Panthers can bounce back.
  16. I agree, Lovejoy isn't the same as it was when it started the High School. Princeton is growing fast and will catapult past Lovejoy in enrollment by the next realignment. Looking forward to the Lovejoy / Princeton matchup on Friday.
  17. Once the toll road grows Celina will shoot past Lovejoy in Enrollment. Yes, we played twice. First time was in 2010 and it was 17-0 Lovejoy, but it was a Banger. The game was better than the score reflected. Three of LJ's top players were suspended for violating team rules and it was a pretty cold night. In 2011 Celina won 37-17, but that wasn't the best LJ squad, plus injuries. I'm actually surprised Celina didn't win by more that night.
  18. Lovejoy / Celina would have been a better game. JPII was loaded with D1 Talent, hype and arrogance... Seems like Celina's been at a low enrollment for a while. Probably 2-3 realignments before the Bobcats move up to 5A DII.
  19. I agree and was aware of the houses zoned to Prosper ISD, but I've had a few coworkers that moved to Celina and their kids go to Celina Schools. I expect the growth to hit Celina sooner rather than later. I haven't been up that way in a while. How's the tollroad coming? Once it passes through Celina the growth will explode.
  20. I'm still shocked that more growth hasn't reached Celina. I thought they'd at least have 1k or more students already.
  21. Plano hires Todd Ford ( formerly at Lovejoy, Cedar Ridge, UNT, SLC).
