Of everyone declaring, I'll miss Sanders the most.

Watched him up close even in HS, torched my Lobos in the playoffs back in 2020.

If Bowers is a better TE prospect than Sanders, it's not by much.

I too think Sanders will be the biggest loss. Heā€™s the #2 TE in the draft, prolly go 1st-2nd round. Canā€™t say I blame him for going. I think if he can become a little better blocking and work on his ball skills dude will be playing for a while. Whatā€™s behind him in the TE room at Texas? Watched plenty of Texas this year and Sark does a great job utilizing the Y.

  2. Liking what Elko and staff are doing in the portal. Guys that have produced at the college level in areas of need. Wouldnā€™t mind another LBā€™er or 2, but with the emergence of York itā€™s not as bad. If Denver really wants to be an Aggie, the leash should have no lead. Talent is there, discipline and maturity havenā€™t been. He should be close to 20 now, maybe just maybe they can make it work. Have heard Chris Marshall might want a reunion too. Little more skeptical on him. His big body type is a need I feel like in the WR room, but I think he ended up at Kilgore after he flamed out at Ole Miss. Not sure on him at all.Ā

    Meh.

    I disagree.Ā  Big changes were in 2021....and 2019.Ā  2017.

This is probably going to be pretty smooth and seamless compared to all those.

2024 team as a lot of talent returning from a squad that almost upset the #2 in the state in the 2nd round of the playoffs (21-14).Ā  Got some spots to fill....but the bulk of the team will be back.

Thatā€™s football. And the Mavs are in fact set up well for the future. Feel like he was more insinuating the other sports. Marshall isnā€™t really competitive in anything besides football and track. What has happened to all the other programs?

I wish they would announce who the DC will be. I know the OC and line coach was top priority, but do they roll with Durkin or wait for the NC to be over and buy the best? I wanna be optimistic and the schedule is more favorable than last year!Ā

The name I heard that I was most excited about was the guy from SMU. But I also know heā€™s recruiting the portal pretty hard for the Mustangs right now. I know itā€™s an ever-changing landscape in CFB but I just donā€™t see that one happening anymore.Ā

  5. E-Rob has stated heā€™ll coach bowl game. More worried about the back end guys than the D-Line guys. D-Line is a spot we could afford to lose a few. McKinley is a big loss. If Turner comes back, heā€™s better than Diggs. LT wasnā€™t a monster, Hicks will be better. Nolenā€™s stars looked good, but he disappeared down the stretch. Chappell and Gilbert are dudes itā€™s gonna suck to lose. Gonna have to find a boundary safety too with Demani leaving. If Edge leaves, which he prolly should, thatā€™s a huge loss. One of, if not the best LB in the nation. Kid just constantly produced, was the leader and could do all of it. Offensively, losing JJ doesnā€™t sting as much with Green getting back in the mix. Bisontis stings a little, think heā€™ll move inside and be playing football for a long time. Donā€™t know what to think of E-Stew. Every time I think he doesnā€™t want to be an Aggie, he pops off on the oh-so credible Gram or X and makes you think he might want to be here. If I was him, Iā€™d want to play for Klein. Excellent scheme and plenty of explosiveness if he is the truly explosive guy weā€™ve heard so much about. I do think most of these transfers will all go contribute in a good way elsewhere, whereas all those transfers last year did absolutely nothing.Ā

  6. Wasnā€™t close IMO, donā€™t get it twisted. I know the score and was there from start to finish. Just IMO, there was a clear better team. Clearly better coached, more disciplined, better schemes. Nac has better looking kids. There were quite a few drive extending penalties on WH. 2 PIā€™s I can think of. Also had some procedural stuff that negated some huge plays from the WH Offense. Refs were a non-factor in the outcome of this game IMO. Apparently some some folks donā€™t see it that way, but this is my 3rd game the last 2 years coming to WH (Iā€™m relatively local) and these ā€˜badā€™ refs in WH have yet to be seen by my eyes.Ā

Nac has some athletes on both sides of the ball.Ā  They are well coached. Will make playoffs and be tough games for rest of district. Wh may or may not make playoffs.

Huh? So the team that lost this game has a better chance of making the playoffs? Thatā€™s special. They definitely had more athletes than WH. Probably, overall, had a ā€˜betterā€™ looking squad than WH. But, IMO, despite the score, this game wasnā€™t that close. Outside of the 1st 2 drives of the game, Nac had 0 answers for WH defensively. Their front is for sure solid, but wore down. Secondary got torched, over and over. Nacā€™s best offensive play is a fade ball to their stud, #3, who is no doubt a stud. Other than that, hello scramble drill and reverse. Ā Not much run game, poor #5 will not be able to withstand that pummeling week after week. Those coaches you praise, donā€™t do him many favors either. Letā€™s go empty and have the young man run for his life. But to each his own. Good luck to the Dragons and Wildcats. Glad I drove to attend last night. WH brings a good crowd.Ā

  8. Tyler High and Texas High got into a pretty good brawl. Like one of the worst Iā€™ve ever seen. Crazy how itā€™s not mentioned just about anywhere. Was still in 1st quarter. I think it should be a double forfeiture. There were coaches still on the bench just chilling as this was going on. Not sure that it wasnā€™t a double forfeiture though. Like I said, this hasnā€™t really been reported on at all. Anyways, suspensions could affect Tyler High going forward. Doubt they add on any or kick anyone off, but it was that bad to where they could. Texas High is pretty awful so it doesnā€™t matter for them at this point.Ā

  9. Carthage. Proven over time, just better.Ā
    Ā

Hallsville. Score a ton, timely stops. Their recipe for success, has worked well. For now.Ā
    Ā

Chapel Hill. Nac is a pretty miserable athletic program.Ā
    Ā

    WH. Same as Hallsville.Ā
    Ā

Emerson. Ā Theyā€™ve won against better competition than MP has lost too.Ā
    Ā

T-High. Legacy is rock solid trash.Ā
    Ā

J-Ville. Scary with their athletes. PT seems lost.Ā

  10. There were a few times Saturday I felt like Calzada was about the 20th best player on the field. Against Prairie View that ainā€™t good. Canā€™t get past 1st read, pocket presence, while it has gotten better with the whole ā€˜hot feetā€™ method, is still atrocious. He frustrates you so much because he canā€™t throw a simple swing to a RB, but can make those back foot dots to Smith against Bama and Moose this past weekend. For what seems like 90% of A&M fans, theyā€™re ok with it all because he beat Bama. I do think some of it has been the revolving door of receivers due to injuries, the fact that our receivers arenā€™t that good, and Wydermeyer drops 20% of the balls his way. But Iā€™m not sold on King either. He obviously has the wheels, but his decision making has always been his Achilles heel. Excited for the future nonetheless.Ā

  11. Thinking Crosby in this one. Donā€™t really see a blowout happening though. I donā€™t see Marshallā€™s defense allowing that. With that being said, this will be one of the better offenses they have seen, and one of the few with more speed. Crosby has an athletic and physical front 7 that I think will cause some problems. Davis is a beast, but the Mavs had to dip into their bag of tricks just to get by Rudder. Thinking Crosby will be too much.Ā

  12. Biggest Surprise- Hallsville coming out of nowhere. Had a friend who saw them scrimmage Palestine and he said they were the real deal. Their RB may have been best in district. You could tell how much they missed him when he was gone.Ā
Biggest Disappointment- Whitehouse. Replacing all 5 OL and a few new coaches is no recipe for success. Seeing them at beginning and end of season though, have to think if QB change is made sooner they could have been competing for a playoff spot. Otherwise, disappointing year.Ā
    Most Improved- Hallsville.Ā
    Least Improved- Jacksonville.Ā
Most Overrated- PT. Lost a lot of offense, but still has some pieces. Once book got out on them, they couldnā€™t overcome.Ā
Most Underrated-Mt Pleasant. For all the depth issues and close games. Certainly seem capable of beating anyone.Ā
Coach of the Year- Hallsvilleā€™s coach.Ā
Most likely to get a new coach for 2022- Jacksonville.Ā
Offensive Player of the Year- RBā€™s seemed to rule this district. T Highā€™s and Hallsvilleā€™s would be my 2.Ā
Defensive Player of the Year- Any of T Highā€™s front 7 lol

That guy wonā€™t admit it. We beat ourselves two of those games a lot of errors and mental mistakes.Ā

No, I wonā€™t admit that a team that lost 3 times to another is better than said team. Ā Mistakes are part of the game. Some teams can overcome them, some canā€™t. Youā€™d think Nacā€™s group of older kids could overcomeĀ against WHā€™s group of freshman and sophā€™s. They didnā€™t and lost. 3 times. Would that happen right now? If they played this weekend? Iā€™d bet Nac would beat them like they stole something. Because Nac is heating up. Scored 12Ā against a Longview team whose been playing good ball. Iā€™m rooting for Nac. Would absolutely hate to be matched up with them.Ā

9-5A represented well although some thought they had no chance!!

THigh and PT with a win. PTĀ closer than I thought. I don't see THigh losing this region.Ā

WH loses a barn burner to Montgomery. Had the lead 31-28. Montgomery gets an INT thatĀ leads to FG. WH marches down the field next possession & gets a turnover on downs on the 35 going in with 23 seconds left!! Montgomery runs the ball and hits it 65 yards for a TD with 10 seconds left!Ā I think they were playing for OT. Unbelievable game in the Fog Bowl. Hate that WH takes the L but lots of young WH talent.Ā

I can see Huntsville, THigh, PT, & Montgomery advancing to Round 3. At least 2 out of 4.Ā

    Agreed.Ā
    Ā

T-High, Ā mightā€™ve been ugly but still dominant from most accounts Iā€™ve heard. Defense is llllllllegit. Think the O-Line will struggle with the more athletic D-Lineā€™s but they got dudes everywhere. Also, nice to have the District #1 seed not pee down their leg in Bi-District. Way to represent.Ā
    Ā

PT, couldnā€™t be happier for Coach Lane. Donā€™t personally know him, but have followed his story and and his teams. Think they have a shot at Nederland. Like a good one.Ā
    Ā

Both 2 vs. 3 games played pretty even. Felt both 3 seeds couldā€™ve won. Thought WH outplayed Montgomery, tough way to lose. Lots and lots of young talent in WH, theyā€™ll be back.Ā
    Ā

Nac hung tough, Huntsville is just the real deal. Southern does a great job there.
    Ā

Good luck to all 9 and 10-5A teams left. Keep collecting gold balls.Ā
