First off, I love sports and Texas sports of all kind! I am a proud Paris High School alum and I mostly just stay quiet and read most of everyones posts which is more of a way for me to be aware of things since I no longer live in Texas(unhappy about this btw). I just wanted to add to the comments being made about Paris being a spoiler. I find it funny that a town of 30,000 people(Reno, 4,000 people, is only seperated by crossing the street in most places and the fact that they share three zipcodes and 2 post offices in Paris) has 3 high schools under 3 different school districts. I also find it funny that people think of the schools(programs) as being somewhat less than or if they win then they are a suprise standout even though state championshhips are represented throughout. I realize that people measure the talent and abilities of a school based on the size and classification of the school and not the actual size of the city but Paris is in a different situation I believe. If Paris High School and North Lamar were to combine there would be over 1,800 to 1,900 students in that school making it a very large 4A school and if Chisum and Prarieland were to combine and make a city wide school/county wide school we would be talking a 5A school I believe(could be wrong but would be close). I find it funny that Paris is competing against schools in towns that have less than 5,000 to 10,000 people and are still considered a "suprise". I think Paris is actually the 4th largest town in Northeast Texas(behind Tyler, Longview and Texarkana). I know that this info may not be at all new to anyone on here, I would just think that if this were the case then people would think differently of the schools in Paris and maybe hold them in the same light as the schools in the other above mentioned towns. Now back to sports(football) ;-)
