  1. Big Sandy went to 18-3 and 4-0 on the season with a 114-56 victory over Hawkins. Several team records broken in this game including 58 points by Josiah Johnson (42 in the first half and 28 in the second quarter). Big Sandy broke the team scoring record which they set earlier this year (113 against Harleton) and scored a team record 68 points in the first half.
  2. Right there with them was the 1975 Big Sandy team. Won their third straight state title, had a 48 game win streak broken when they moved up a class in '76 but set several national records that stood for many years. The '75 team scored a then national record 824 points and allowed 15. Lovie Smith and David Overstreet dominated both sides of the ball. Including Overstreet scoring 56 TD's, Smith lead a defense that put up 11 shutouts.
  3. Anyone know who Frankston is scrimmaging?
  4. Big Sandy out scored Dekalb 18-0 in one live quarter.
  5. I guarantee you the focus was 100 percent on Kerens and no one was focused on UG. Kerens is a very talented and it was a great game. Give credit to a talented opponent and give credit to the Big Sandy kids for winning the game.
  6. Anyone know the release date for Tyler?
  7. Wildcat Stadium turf completed in Big Sandy.
  8. I have attended and coached in state championships and to me the production of the game at AT&T is unparalleled. It is the greatest football venue there is and I hope it is always played there. I understand the rotation argument but I love it at AT&T. I love that Texas high school football fans get to watch all of the games if they choose to at one location. How else will a small school ever get the opportunity to play in front of 15,000 people? We played at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene and there is no comparison to playing in Arlington. I went to the state basketball championships a few Saturdays ago and was struck by the lack of production versus what AT&T puts on. At the end of the day, high school championships should be about the kids. I love when they put members of the band, fans, or players on the big screen and you see the joy of that moment. Most of the complaints I have heard are by people who haven't attended the championships there. I just don't see a down side....but that's just me.
  9. Trust me chain....I coached with one and against the other...and you definitely have the better end of the deal!
  10. The only play of significance against Big Sandy's D (outside of goal line) was a QB scramble against Big Sandy 2nd defensive line. They didn't move the ball at all versus the first team D-Line. What was lame about the goal line session?
  11. Shultz is a great coach. These kids will be strong and will be fundamentally sound.
  12. With Harleton under going a coaching change it will be interesting to see what they change scheme wise.
  13. Just curious is that a shot at the Big Sandy coaching staff?
