  1. Good coaches like Owens do a lot of things to support the coaches throughout their program. Fight for better travel budgets so they can face better competition. Work with campus admin to make sure coaches class schedules allow them enough time in athletics with all the kids in their program not just the varsity. Hire coaches who are talented in multiple sports, not just FB coaches stuck in the gym with a whistle(or baseball, softball, volleyball, etc.). Use budgets for improvements to all facilities not just FB facilities. These are examples not things I know happened at Lee, but common things that are important in a good CC/HFC.
  2. I think at Henderson you have to give a look at Austin Adams, started throwing touchdowns to Drew Coleman when Austin was a sophmore. Then for two years led the Lions to great season's. Drew was with out a doubt the most athletic player at QB in the history of Henderson. Del and Austin both are extremely cerebral QB's and obviously super competitive. I would take Adam's orarnes @ QB on a dream team, with Drew playing WR, CB and Returner. Those punt returns he had in HS were sick!!!
  3. I did ht and wt on over 2000 kids this week for fitness gram at a school with 3200 students. We had one boy that weighed over 300#s. I wonder what we have to do to get some kids in here that are 6'5 and can bench a house. Our o-line will avg around 6'1 and 225 next yr.
  4. As an umpire you should call the coaches to the plate and let them talk, but keep your 2 cents in your pocket. To many umpires these days are trying to control the outcome of games and it is getting ridiculous. Kids can't figure out what is going to be a strike from game to game. Umpires watching the wrong things and missing calls. It's a tough job, but if you have thin skin then go be a grumpy greeter at Wal-Mart not a grumpy umpire.
  5. Plano ISD has 3 high schools. Plano West, PLano East, and PLano High all highschools all with their own middle schools and all in pretty decent shape. That is not exactly right. They have 3 Sr Highs and they are fed by 5 High Schools. And I am not sure how many MS's, but it is not all kids from these MS's go to that HS. Plus you are talking about 15,000 HS kids vs maybe 3-4,000.
  6. The drop to 3A hasn't helped Henderson at all? Got a "good" coach 5 yrs ago, serious winning started this year in multiple programs. Seems like the level playing field had as much to do with Henderson success as the "good" coach did.
