  1. disagree with ya...players have been taught through repeated repetitions in hundreds of practices in the same system since seventh grade how their body/brian should instantly react to certain situations during a game...tradition does not teach them, coaches teach players how to do those things...then thru external stimuli players learn other behaviors that enhance those learned abilities...that is where work ethic/expectations/character enters... just wondering...ifn the Immel kid had been a step or two faster (genes) what this tradition talk would have meant...
  2. think that hooks, pewitt and hs will be able to score on NB defense...the rub will be ifn any of those schools can slow down NB's offense, they are pretty good on that side of the ball... NB, Pewitt, Hooks after week one...this district is liable to go down to the lasst week on who is in and out of dance card...better bring your hat every friday night...
  3. oops...hit wrong button first time great hs game between two evenly matched teams last night...Pewitt kids were able to make a couple of plays at end to win game...hats off to both groups of players... leopard is right...adjustments and kids making plays won that game...tradition does not win games players wins games... two penalties decided game...pewitts last drive the 15yd roughing passer agin HS helped to set up betts run down to 2 yd line...the pass interference agin Pewitt won game (from my field level view the Pewitt DB was cooked) dont know if it was intentional or not but the HS rec was going to be wide open... regarding the last play...HS had been running iso/lead to their left all game with good success so ifn ball was on 3yd line or less I can understand reasoning if outside of that I would have thrown to big tall rec HS (Wesley?)had...would have gotten two maybe three chances...was on opposite end of field and could not tell what yd line was the los...
  4. hughessprings 7/8th grades won easily...Pewitt JV scored a TD with 6 seconds left to win 18-12...
  5. friday edition of texarkana gazette has a brief writeup which said the tigger jv won last night...
  6. jake take hwy 67 East out of Omaha/Naples to Hwy 98 at Simms... go north and then turn east on I30...cuts a few miles/minutes off trip
  7. lol...pretty good line...agree it will be close...team that controls field position and less penalties/fumbles wins...
  8. yes I have seen the movie after i had read the book several years ago...not a good scenario to compare with...the book is not a ringing endorsement of that line of dedication...
  9. Big Blue…just because I choose to digress from the collective viewpoint of other Pewitt posters why ask what problem I have with Pewitt?..different posters made general and specific comments about the 9th grade class and the DK scirmmage and I responded…with my opine general & specific…what I stated is correct…on all three points… I have been thru this rodeo before where a group of kids was supposed to be the ‘second coming” and did absolutely nothing in high school and I know of a group at another school that won one game in JH football had the faithful worried and they did extremely well at the varsity level…it can happen both ways...there are lots of variables that can occur over three years when you are dealing with fourteen year old teenagers and not all of them are positive, unfortunately… I am calm about this Big Blue… thanks for the concern.. Pewitt should win this week easily…
  10. 1. Your are correct Pewitt did not handle DK from what I saw at the scrimmage... 2. no freshman will be on the varsity once district starts...there are none that are physically good enough to start on varsity and if they are having to backup then that means injuries have taken talent away from varisty level... 3. everybody needs to cool with the second coming talk and lets see what happens with a group of fourteen/fifteen old teenagers over the next couple of years...yes they do have good ability but what will some of those same kids do with that talent over the next year or weekend for that matter?..
  11. against an unimpressive opponent, Cooper was not very good at all, howeever, good teams are supposed to beat bad teams...Pewitt should win this game, unless kids are looking ahead to next week which I dont think the coachers will allow... oline has got to get better this week, still seeing dline penetration...the fumbles/penalties will hurt against some of district teams....
  12. yes there was a change taking place in the summer...Cooper was not very good last night...Pewitt made too many mistakes to beat playoff caliber teams...and still beat the #### out of 'em...
  13. they have beaten two teams they should have thus far...would think that DK will be a better indicator of Hooks abilities...think DK wins... have seen DK against NB and they are solid...good defense/offense...DK should score three-four TD's a game with their RB's...DK defense is a little light in the britches but effective and that side of the ball holds the key to the season...
  14. Pewitt should win this game, however, maybe not a blowout...when Pewitt plays, ball control is the key...ifn the Bulls garner 20ish first downs and no mistakes (fumbles) then the score will usually tilt towards the blue... Pewitt had some areas of play to correct after last game...it will be interesting to see what the coachers have done with the two week prep time...
  15. The DK rb is Terrance Ganaway, he is a stud, made several excellent runs of about five yds due to limited blocking... Ist half score was 28-21 NBoston who scored on a 4th down pass with 8 seconds left in 2nd quarter...NB has to correct some kick off coverage issues and pass defense... they were keying so hard on Ganaway that several DK receivers got behind the sec off play action...DK drops a pass in the endzone that would have tied it at 35 all...even though DK was basically single platoon fb the Bears seemed to be wearing down NB in the 4thQ...as the game continued DK stuck with game plan and almost pulled it out late in 4th...if the defense could have stopped NB then I felt like the Bears would havepulled it out...defintely not a mismatch as some predicted...both teams are solid and both have some work...
  16. yeps..i read where Dodge had over 400 kids at his QB camp...I'm guessing between a low of about $250 and a high $400 each for the week...lots of other perks I am sure...
  17. it was a three way scrum...did not watch mv too much...from what I saw of them against Pewitt they got some work to do before district comp starts...nothing really jumped out at me...
  18. JV then V on Thursday Saturday Pewitt looked good for first scrimmage...not near as explosive as last year but will be a solid team...offense moved the ball against both MtV and Cville then had a few mistakes down close...defense let off's get to the edge a few times nothing major...stay away from injuries and the youngsters continue to develop and the Bulls will be a solid team...
  19. last year they had about 275ish...heard this year about 300-315
  20. Pewitt vs Prairiland in 1998...final was 69-0...was not that close either...the RB (Kenny Boyd) from Pewitt touched the ball five times (four carries on offense had four TD's over 200 yds rushing and one INT return for TD from about midfield)...score at end of 1st Q was 49-0... that Prairiland team was the worst hs football team I have ever seen on a field...
  21. Gilmer aint worth a darn...heard they are renovating but jeez Marshall great surface...facilities below average for a 4A Lobo great to watch a game... facilities so so from fan view Bruce Field fans are right on top of ya...good surface also...visitors side kinda small cannot argue with top four...
  22. Slot T run first second third and fourth, pass last only when needed...makes for quick games ...Wing/Dead T schemes
  23. no..I believe that it is for the same reason MtPleasant does not play Pittsburg...has nothing to do with the teams/schools...
