  1. ugh....I'm at work. Forgot to set my DVR. Sounds like a barnburner. Hope those guys have a big crowd watching.
  2. Some of those students on the visitor's side at Lobo are in their 40's and higher..... Maybe UIL needs to investigate to see if Longview is padding their enrollment a bit....LMAO
  3. Jacksonville (10-4) beat Marshall (10-2) Tuesday night 68-55.
  4. I'll be at all three games Friday and Saturday. Most excited about Kilgore/Carthage on Friday Still disppointed we didn't get the Katy/Lake Travis match-up..... but I think Cedar hill will bring a good game. That's my marquee game for Saturday. But I'm hoping for all of them to be exciting.
  5. Can't wait till Friday!!! I'll be there pulling for the K-dogs!!! I've seen them three times this season. And they were just about flawless all three times. Hard to beat a team that doesn't make many mistakes. I have no doubt Carthage is loaded too..... their history speaks for itself for the last several years. Should be a great game between two of East Texas' finest. But I'll pulling for Kilgore. Too much history between us (most of it fond...LMAO) not to. If you see a red Mav hoodie on the K-dog side, come say hi. It's probably me! BUT...I know several ppl from Marshall going this weekend. GO KILGORE!
  6. I've seen Kilgore three times this season. And I just had a gut feeling they had something special. They looked too clean, too sharp, and too good in August to not be. Just didn't see the sloppiness, the mental mistakes, and the clumsiness that tends to derail some teams' seasons. Kilgore just about seemed flawless in all three games. And I have no doubt they have improved each week since zero week. Of course, we made a lot of teams look special this year....lmao. But Kilgore just seemed to have a spark that you only see now and again on teams. Thanks and same to you and yours. It's easy to respect Kilgore. They win and they win and they win. They are winning in 3A..... but Kilgore was winning in 4A. So no one can accuse them of prospering from realignment. Kilgore has won no matter their address and who their neighbors were. But Kilgore.....at least from my perspective.... respects their opponents. And they especially respect their rivals. Win or lose. That's why I like the Kilgore-Marshall rivalry. Respect is both given and received. Some of our rivals refuse any semblance of respect That's why I've been such big suporters of both Kilgore and Texas High. Class act programs, class act fans. Good luck and see ya'll on Friday (and Saturday!)
  7. CONGRATS KILGORE!!!! There is no doubt the Bulldogs have been our top rival since we started all this in 2002. Can't think of many teams I enjoy watching Marshall beat more than Kilgore...... But also can't think of many teams I respect more...... and want to see win a state title more than Kilgore, either. Seeing this makes that beatdown ya'll gave us back in August a little easier to take......LOL I'll be there on Friday in my red Mav hoodie pulling for the K-dogs! Congrats again! Marshall supports you guys!
  8. I'm willing to bet a coach hears worse things coming from the stands on any given Friday night than anything he can read on an online message board.
  9. Marshall is currently 9-1 on the season. They beat Kilgore Tuesday night 69-58. They will be participating in the the Kaufman Tourney next I belive JV is 7-2. They beat Kilgore 57-29. The freshman team is 5-4, they beat Kilgre 32-28. I don't know what the Lady Mavs' record is....I just know they beat Wills Point 52-30 yesterday.
  10. I was a 90s kid. So I was more Paul Todd, Kendrick Starling, David Bayless, David Aaron. But those mid 2000 teams were just too much fun to watch. 04, 05, 07, 09.
  11. I know the last 2-3 years have been rough on us.....but I'd like to think we haven't descended to those depths. UGH! lol.
  12. There is a difference in saying hispanic kids DON'T play football and CAN'T play football. I've seen that eluded to several times not only on SDC, but on other message boards. I'm not sold on the fact that black athletes more football skills than other groups. If that were true, then why are DISD schools historically PUTRID whenever they play their mostly white suburban counterparts? Outside of Skyline and Carter...... most of DISD is horrible in football. At least in 4A and 5A. I know some use the hispanic example because of how poorly El Paso and the Rio Grande Valley schools do in the playoffs. I think it has less to do with demographics and more to do with the state of a program. I have a feeling Gilmer, Carthage, Kilgore would be annually good if they were all white, all back, all hispanic or any combination of them. They teach those guys what they need to do starting in middle school. I can't honestly sayt demographics have nothing to do with a schools rise or decline. But I think it has less to do with it than most give credit. Its more about the coaching, the stability of the program, and an expectation to excel.
  13. Mavs up to 8-0..... haven't heard how they finished today.
  14. Pulling for Kilgore all the way! Our rivalry has taken a nose dive the last couple of seasons.... but I still want to see you guys win it all.
  15. Should have just said you lived on South High St.
  16. Surely LP will be playing Acadiana. I saw part of their game with Neville. They looked like a good team. Apparently....they are still playing in the playoffs. Parkway, Byrd, Neville, Acadiana were all in the Battle on the Border and are still playing in the playoffs. Wonder how Olive Branch is doing.
  17. Hmmmm.....so.... how about: West: John Tyler, Whitehouse, Jacksonville, Lindale, Ennis, Waxahachie, Sulphur Springs, Corsicana East: Texas High, Mt Pleasant, Marshall, Hallsville, Longview, Pine Tree, Nacogdoches, Lufkin That's doesn't look TOO shabby. Nac and Lufkin to Texarkana and MP makes more sense that sending them to Cors, Ennis, and Wax....doesn't it?
  18. Actually.....J T McManus gets some credit for some of MHS' rebirth into basketball. He got the Mavs within one game of the state tournament with several other years of playoff runs before he headed off to Lufkin. Carson took over a program that was already on the way up.... he's just sustained the Mavericks' success since he got here. And now he's looking to take them to the next level. Good luck to Coach Carson and the Mavs!
  19. I'm thinking these people are just tossing darts and placing schools together. There is no possible way Longview, Pine Tree, Hallsville and Marshall aren't together. Just like there is no possible way JT, WH, Jax, and Lindale aren't together. It's the North (Tex, MP, SS) and South (Nac and Luf) that are the wild cards IMHO. They either get put with one of those two core school groups or they go (as a group) elsewhere. Seems pretty simple to me. But....we are talking UIL here.
  20. I hear you can get a custom made hoddie though......
  21. I know it's early and everyone is still in tourney play, but I thought I'd get the ball rolling to see where everyone is at on the court. District play will be rolling around in a few weeks. Marshall (5-0) Hallsville (?-?) Texas High (?-?) Pine Tree (1-3) Sulphur Springs (1-3) Mt, Pleasant (1-3)- not sure about this one. May be (2-3) ---------------------- No clue on the ladies side of things. Tough getting scores and records on them. I believe the Lady Mavs are (1-3). Maybe (1-4). Not sure. They beat Carthage Tuesday night. Any other news out there?
  22. No ma'am. I figured the weather would slow the rush considerably.
  23. I haven't decided.....I may still go to the Kilgore/CH game Friday night.
  24. DANG!!!! You weren't kidding about your mood were you, Ms. Scrooge hehehe
