  1. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." - Abraham Lincoln We might have only won one game last year...... THE worst team Marshall has fielded in probably 50+ years. And we STILL beat Pine Tree by 3 TD's. You have ZERO credibility on this board from....well.... ANYONE. Yet you continue to prove you must like the taste of Tinactin.
  2. So instead of winning 40-7, Longview will win 60-0. Cool.
  3. Yeah. I think Lee/JT will be a great game. I'll be shocked if Kilgore doesn't crush PT.
  4. If you haven't already......don't forget to buy your tickets today or Friday. The football team gets to keep the $ for themselves for advance sale tickets. All ticket money collected from the gate on game day is split among all the participating schools. So buy in advance so MHS gets the keep that $ for themselves! ------ What games are some of you going to Friday since we're playing Saturday? I'm headed to Lee/JT
  5. I wonder about some of these other states and their football. I've seen Pensacola HS playin Florida when they were state ranked and I'm pretty sure an average team could have beaten them. They weren't spectacualr to me at ALL. Arkansas has pretty good support, but they are no where near the level of Texas..... and Louisiana.... unless you're W Monroe, Byrd, Curtis and a hanful of others..... the support is lacking. My dad said the only place he's been that thought HS football could rival Texas HS is Hawaii. He was stationed there for several years (long enough to make me...LOL) and saw a lot of HS football over there. But he said HSF over there was HUUUUGE. The different towns on Ohau absolutely hated each other. And many of the teams could put 15-20K in Aloha Stadium. And the state championships bring in massive crowds. He isn't sure of the teams match up with Texas athletically..... but as far as support and rabid fan bases it's as close as he's seen to Texas.
  6. There are only a small handful of Louisiana schools that could hang with Longview. Curtis, Neville, Ouachita, and maybe Byrd. But all four can bottom out on down years. But by and large they are good annually. Some of the best non-distrct games Marshall use to ever have was Ouachita. Neville too. Both were always state ranked.... and always gave a close game. And that was back when we were a highly competitive 5A school. From my expereince though.....outside of Byrd, fan support for the teams (especially on the road) is virtually non-existent. Ouachita would have great home crowds....but would generally bring less than 100-200 to Marshall. Nevile was better. Byrd travelled well though when they came here.
  7. Next year I hope they have Marshall, Longview, and Lufkin all playing on the same day. Seems like I recall they had talked to John Tyler too. Dunno what happened with that. They keep it up and we will have a big old 12-5A reunion party. Just need to get Texas High, Lee, and Nac to the party.
  8. Article in today's Shreveport Times: http://lms.usatodayhss.com/shreveport/articles/item/747-ready-for-battle Parkway is 20-5 the last two seasons, advanced to the Qtr-finals before losing to eventual state runner up Lake Charles Barbe. I wasn't aware that Lufkin had signed on to play in the Battle next year. Good deal! Sounds like the powers that be know how to sell some tickets..... invite Longview, Marshall, and Lufkin.
  9. Longview's streak over Marshall ended at 19. Never made it to 20. I was at that game.....but way too young to remember it.
  10. http://www.etsupersite.com/ Put some interesting stuff on there. Enjoy!
  11. Do believe I'll be attending this game Friday.
  12. Seems like it was 360ish according to the box score in the LNJ. Could be wrong.
  13. Article about Parkway's win over Calvary on Friday night: http://lms.usatodayhss.com/shreveport/articles/item/744-parkway-tops-cavs
  14. When you've been where we have for the last 2 seasons....a win over a state ranked team would be HUGE. I'm having trouble seeing our offense scoring 35 points ATM..... but they are getting better no doubt. I think we had almost 400 yards against Longview. I'm ready to see what we can do!
  15. Far from perfect against longview. Lobos made some critical mistakes. Then again. So did we.
  16. Well..... Calvary only got 12. And last week in their Jamboree Parkway only gave up 7 if I recall. Yup. Going to be another tough game for the Mavs.
  17. In all honesty.....I'm done talking to you about it. Good luck to Henderson the rest of the way. On to Parkway!!
  18. Meh. I was there. No need to talk about Longview and Marshall's game. I'm more enthralled with how Nac beat mighty mighty Henderson. Do tell!!! I even got popcorn ready.
  19. yeah....and based on a thread that is dedicated completely to YOU on this sports forum........ It seems the SDC consensus is in on what most people think of your opinion...... I would be embarrased to know that people devalued anything I said as much as they do your posts..... LOL. It's almost comical. If you were a weather man...... LMAO.
  20. But I'm not trolling other teams' threads telling them how bad they are. See the difference Ray Charles?
  21. You lost to Nac. I'd probably pick Karnack to beat you by 60.... #troll
  22. It seems Marshall keeps jumping from the frying pan into the fire week after week. No shock that it happens again next weekend. After games against state ranked Kilgore and Longview, the (0-2) Mavs now travel across the state line to face #5 Bossier Parkway in the middle game of a triple header Saturday (5PM Kickoff). Longview's game against Olive Branch, Mississippi will be the night cap. Parkway opened their season Friday night with a convicing 55-12 win over Calvary Baptist Academy. Parkway was 12-2 last season and has one of the top QB propects in the country in Brandon Harris, who has already committed to LSU. Harris passed for three scores in rolling up 233 passing yards on 15-of-27 passing. Louisiana Tech-commit Brodrick Jefferson hauled in one of Harris’ scoring tosses from 39 yards out, while Austin Roth had one from 40 yards and McAtee from 29 yards out. Bossier Parkway was ranked #5 in class 5A last week in Louisiana. Calvary is a 2A school in Shreveport whom some have picked ot be a favorite for a state title. The Panthers made them look bad. They had a 38-0 lead at halftime. Marshall is coming off of a 26-14 loss to Longview. Sounds like the Mavs have their work cut out for them come Saturday. I hope the defense is ready for this wide open offense. We're about to see it back to back weeks with Whitehouse coming up after Parkway. Maverick offense is not prepared ot get into a scorefest with anyone yet. But things are getting better. No doubt.
  23. True.....we are both 0-2. But a double digit loss to Longview...... compared to a double digit loss to Nacogdoches....... not the same zip code my brother. and yet you still talk smack. I think I'd be shoveling that crow into my mouth a little faster so maybe I'd stop talking so much. Lion fans everywhere would probably appreciate it. I think even your hero Johnny Boy has a muzzle on right now.
