It seems Marshall keeps jumping from the frying pan into the fire week after week. No shock that it happens again next weekend. After games against state ranked Kilgore and Longview, the (0-2) Mavs now travel across the state line to face #5 Bossier Parkway in the middle game of a triple header Saturday (5PM Kickoff). Longview's game against Olive Branch, Mississippi will be the night cap. Parkway opened their season Friday night with a convicing 55-12 win over Calvary Baptist Academy. Parkway was 12-2 last season and has one of the top QB propects in the country in Brandon Harris, who has already committed to LSU. Harris passed for three scores in rolling up 233 passing yards on 15-of-27 passing. Louisiana Tech-commit Brodrick Jefferson hauled in one of Harris’ scoring tosses from 39 yards out, while Austin Roth had one from 40 yards and McAtee from 29 yards out. Bossier Parkway was ranked #5 in class 5A last week in Louisiana. Calvary is a 2A school in Shreveport whom some have picked ot be a favorite for a state title. The Panthers made them look bad. They had a 38-0 lead at halftime. Marshall is coming off of a 26-14 loss to Longview. Sounds like the Mavs have their work cut out for them come Saturday. I hope the defense is ready for this wide open offense. We're about to see it back to back weeks with Whitehouse coming up after Parkway. Maverick offense is not prepared ot get into a scorefest with anyone yet. But things are getting better. No doubt.

True.....we are both 0-2. But a double digit loss to Longview...... compared to a double digit loss to Nacogdoches....... not the same zip code my brother. and yet you still talk smack. I'm not one for moral victories. But yeah....I'm very proud of the guys. When you've struggled like we have the last 2 seasons..... anything positive is a good thing. Very happy for the guys. Considering I saw predictions of having as many as 70 hung on us. We've played two great teams. And we are getting better. Can't ask for more than that at this point. Ready to go get a W!

I hope you are right. An 0-4 start isn't out of the question for us. #5 Parkway next week and then Whitehouse. Seems like they can score 50 blindfolded it seems.

I agree. I'm not sold on 2013 yet either. But progress is already being seen in a short amount of time. And we are at a point where progress matters. The difference between how 0-2 came about last season and how it's come about this season can't even be compared. Night and day. We didn't compete last year. At all. I honestly don't think anyone in 14-4A is at Kilgore or Longview's level. Lobos will work it out. it's only week 1.

I never expect anything TOO kind to be murmured from Loboland concerning the Mavericks. LOL. It is what it is. But I thought it was pretty classy for Coach King to say he thinks Marshall is a playoff team. The guy knows football...and to have him say that means a lot. I hope he's right. I'm not sold yet. We have much work to do too. But the difference from last year to this year is NIGHT AND DAY even though we are till 0-2. I doubt there is one team in either 4A district that would do much better than 0-2. Good luck to the Lobos the rest of the way. You guys will pull it together. You always do. I hope Marshall can too.

Not so far. Speed is there But line struggles to open any holes. Of course. We've played Kilgore and longview. Not many would open holes against them.
