Van won game 1 against Gilmer 3-2 & heard that Brownsboro beat Henderson 3-1.

Van played BB on Tuesday, we had 2 HR with no problems. We did have an issue with an obstruction call and the umps went back & forth but ended up making the correct call. But Van won 15-4 so not much to argue about this time. Good Luck to everyone as we start our 2nd half of District play!

Anyone heard how the Lovejoy - North Lamar games ended up?

Van has 4 Seniors leaving and we will have some incoming Freshman that can play including another pitcher. I'm pretty sure we only have 1 starting junior (I could be wrong) so from my seat, looks like our talent pool is pretty young. We are looking forward to several more years of playoff runs!! As for why the coach is leaving, why would any coach leave a great program and move on? You can't blame anyone for wanting to take the next step in their career, all the girls that I know are very sad to see him go!

Sure didn't take long for the guy who "KNOWS everything about what's going on in Van but, does not live there" to put his two cents worth in. I think it's funny, show's just how intelligent he is, LMBO!! Keep it up, I find your post quite amusing, Thanks for the comic relief! For our girls that are reading this, each of you KNOW the truth and you DO NOT have to defend yourself, your coach, your team or your school. Let the petty people with nothing better to do than talk trash have their only excitement in life! The people that have supported you all year are very PROUD of your accomplishments! We look forward to seeing our Seniors play at the college level and excited about what next year will have in store.

This isn't any of my business but, wonder if some people realize that the girls read what's going on here?? This is High School Softball, not major league, unfortunate things happen for whatever reason and it is our job as adults to build the girls up, not tear the team apart. And I know that no one ask my opinion but, just felt someone needed to point that out......seems to have gotten lost in translation or something! It's called adversity and those girls can overcome it!! Hold your heads up Ladies and play your game!! GOOD LUCK!!

No sir, I'm not mad. Just stating my opinion for what it's worth...apparently not much to you and that's your opinion which I can respect! I'm VERY PROUD of our LADY VANDALS, they have really stepped up their game and they deserve a pat on the back. I also gave credit where credit is due to Lindale and Canton....Also a great group of girls!! Lot's of good teams headed into the playoffs and I wish every one of them the best. HIPPYMOM, you demonstrate great sportsmanship and I admire that! Not something that you see to much of these days with everything being so competitive! Glad to know that there are people out there on opposing teams that can set such a great example for their kids and community!! Again, Best of Luck to you ladies as you head into your first games!! GO LADY VANDALS..."FST"!!

Hold on just a minute there........Don't include all of "Van Peeps" in your assumption. I only see one person that is upset representing Van. And maybe upset isn't the correct wording, defensive maybe but, alot of people get that way when someone is talking about our children/teams. One person does not speak for the whole community so please don't think of it that way. We are very proud of our young ladies, our coaches and their accomplishments this year. Everyone is very excited about this playoff season and watching our Lady Vandals step up their game each week!! Some other threads on smoaky have talked about Region II having weak districts. District 14 I think would be an exception to that with Van, Lindale and Canton all three having great teams. We've had some great games between those three teams. No one knew until the last 3 games of the season how this district would line up, that makes some great softball in my opinion. Plus doesn't allow the teams to "coast" through the end of their season leading up to the playoffs. I for one am very Proud of Our Lady Vandals and wish Lindale & Canton the best of Luck going into their playoff season. All three teams have been ranked in the top 10 (TX Girls Assoc Poll) throughout the season so you can't take anything away from any of those teams. One thing negative I can say is that looking at the Poll this week and neither Lindale or Canton are on there is crazy!! I don't think that they should have dropped from the top 10 to completely off the chart but, that's really all that the polls are good for is to get us all in an uproar and something else to talk about! GO LADY VANDALS...........WE BLEED RED!!!
