quitman has had some periods of success--the coaches since the 70's starting with most recent Woodard-- 0-25 .000 2014-current Callahan-- 16-35 .320 2009-2013 Shackelford 25-17 .595 2005-2008 Porter 39-17 .696 2000-2005 Baird 6-14 .300 1998-1999 Webb 17-43 .283 1992-1997 Swann 47-37 .560 1984-1991 Thompson 20-13-2 .571 1981-1983 Erwin 73-46 .613 1969-1980 You see some periods of success with Porter having best percentage and Erwin the most wins .. but you see, other than Erwin, no longevity. This revolving door has been much of the problem as you see outstanding former coaches having great success at other schools like Larry Minter and Kerry Strong at Big Sandy, Shane Webber at Rains, Bill Johnson at 4A # 1 China Spring, Billy Mac Steed Coach of the year at 4A Paris, Porter and numerous others. Community needs to get behind coaches and bring stability to program.

Where did you get that information--- Quitman won more games in football in the 2000-2009 decade than in any decade in school history. Won back to back to back district titles under Porter with the best record in school history at 12-1. Went 25-17 in 4 years 2005-2009 after Porter. Callahan did not coach at Quitman until 2009 and won 16 games in 5 years. Current coach is 0 and 25 since callahan left

Harmony has played the tougher schedule--Commerce really the only quality team edgewood has played and they can't match up with Waskom or White Oak.

Just Curious..What business is it of yours where I work. And just to satisfy you no I am not kin to coach Hardy by blood or marriage. I simply told you you were wrong in your accusations against him about stopping kids from playing other sports. That is nothing against anybody-- just correcting someone unfairly bashing a coach for no reason

Quitman is in the same class that they always competed in except for the few years they moved up with Van Lindale and Brownsboro... the teams beating them this year are smaller division and/or class. Quitman has never had large numbers but won more football games in the first decade of this century than any decade in school history. Again that cannot be an excuse. However I do agree that they face a tough dilema.. Kids don't want to play unless they win and it is hard to win unless all your good kids play. I just don't agree with the the posts about baseball coach keeping kids from football ( as Veer stated) or basketball (as you Stated) because I don't think that is a true statement

Once again I can't think of any baseball players last year that would have started or played any significant minutes on the basketball team and I have never heard said coach tell any student not to play another sport. You really need to come up with a different reason for not winning. I know the best ball players on this years football team are also his best baseball players and that has been the case for the past 5 or 6 years with the exception of the Foley kid and he chose early on to play only basketball and baseball

I cant think of any straight baseball players that would be hurting the football program----best baseball players have all played football the last few years

I personally am happy for Harmony and Coach Russell. It is amazing how the team and community have rallied around his family. They have always had great kids that played hard. I coached against them many times and You knew when you went to play them that even though you might beat them you were in for a long hard night.

Beckville defense will have to get a lot better to make playoffs. Quitman had several other long drives running football but didn't score after getting deep in other territory. Beckville Offense they looked pretty good especially passing but got to eliminate the turnovers.
