I understand the argument about there being too many teams in the playoffs. I understand people's issues with the UIL doing it for money. But ever so often it happens that one districts 4th place is better than the other district champ. Last year Garrison (champs) had to kick a last second FG to beat ND (4th place). Are there some blowouts but who says there aren't weak districts where 3 of the 4 shouldn't be in. I remember a 3 way tie for a district championship back when one team went. The team that stayed home had beat the champs but we're third according to points. The first place team beat the second place team in the 4th round then lost in the next round. In this case a really good team stayed home.

Didn't get to see ND Friday. Watched OC clinch the playoffs. Heard it was bad. Expected that. For people to say the kids in ND don't play hard is plain wrong. Sometimes one team is better than the other. I do think from what I've seen they are missing some player leadership and they don't have those usual "tough" country boys I grew up playing against. Like Capt said they have the worst facilities in the area. I was told their weight room used to be the band hall. Can't imagine that being true. Needless to say they will give HS all they've got and be coached up.

It has rained for 2 days straight here in Upshur County and may not stop till noon tomorrow. Diana has one of the worst stadiums in East Texas for a school in their division. That along with the fact they have an award winning band that marches on it daily and make it look like the cattle drive just came in could make it a very sloppy night. I was there for a JH game and it literally looked like there were ruts intentionally dug in it from 30 to 30...no grass. Good thing for waskom they like to use the sidelines. Lol. Would hate for one of their studs to go down on some freak play and keep them from bringing a trophy back to East Texas. This sloppy field could also hurt their OSK paths but also make the ball more slippery for the Eagles. Maybe the Wildcats can get some young guys some minutes. Good luck for both teams hopefully coming out unscathed with the playoffs next week.

What would you call if a tackle in a spread offense in a 2pt stance took off like he is running GT, stopped, looked around like "oh ####" then went back to his spot and got set.... not once but twice?

I know a few coaches over at Diana Esteban and those kids get coached. I got to see them one week and it seems there were a lot of missed tackles, timid backs, and just lacking a few "special"athletes.... kids played hard dont want to take that away from them, but a lot of times it comes down to jimmys and joes and diana doesnt seem to have the. wish that coaches could tackle for the kids, Esteban. Lol.

Worst officiated game I've seen in years. Those guys shouldn't even do JH games. Blocks in the back. Recievers jumping offsides....and numerous more. Don't know how much it affected the outcome but they sucked. Diana didn't tackle #20 or cover # 10 while EF needs ko team work or else diana is just good at it not sure. Both teams played their hearts out. Hope there are repercussions for corner that got burnt and threw his helmet

Gilmer has a few grads that coach around east texas. 8 off the top of my head. 4 still at gilmer I believe.

So most feel it will go like this: 1 Waskom 2 Arp 3 Frankston 4-6 EF, Troup, West Rusk 7-8 Winona, New Diana Should be a good district. Being a Upshur County follower I hope ND makes a good showing. I know they beat Winona and EF last year. Hopefully they can put together some upsets and start to rebuild.

So will ND meet up with tatum if they both get by this round? Who does ND have this week and what are their chances?

Jefferson and EF have a playoff for 4th. OC is out. 2 huge extra inning games last nights. Lol. Great district. Hats off to OC , UG, & whoever else doesnt get in....yall woulda been playoff teams in the other district.

It was really important. Lol That's what I thought would happen but wasnt sure. Seems like this is what OC is hoping for seeing that they saved their #1pitcher for EF. They also have a lot of confidence in ND beating Jefferson. If ND loses then they will share the district title and be the 2nd seed. And there could possibly be a tie between jefferson and Tatum and maybe EF depending on how Tatum does vs UG. Crazy district....good district.
