  1. Remember the past, but don't relive it......Those workers might have gotten their pay, benefits, etc.....but at what cost??? How many times during strikes through recent memory did workers strike as their union asked, but then never receive ANY money during the strike to feed their families, pay bills, etc....... I don't know about you or anyone else, but as for me, I DO NOT need anyone to speak on "my behalf" when it comes to my job, my pay, or my benefits.........
  2. Agreed Dubya.....If our car companies cannot compete with other companies, then they should not be in business......It is as simple as that.....
  3. Agreed.......I think Ford and the other major US car producer's are beginning to realize the hard way that what the average US citizen wants now is fuel efficiency and lower cost.......As for me, personally, when I can afford a new car, it will not be a ford, or chevy, etc......Instead, I will purchase either a Toyota Corolla, Camry or the Volkswagen Jetta because of the price and the fuel efficiency........
  4. Then why did "Home Alone" also offer the same options as "Planet of the Apes"??? Last time I checked, "Home Alone" was a comedy, not a biography, or a historical non-fiction movie.....
  5. You know, I have a movie quote in my head right now that really fits this situation.....(I am paraphrasing here of course, because I cannot remember the exact words)........"A person is an intelligent being, but people are dumb, stupid animals and you know it." -------Tommy Lee Jones in "Men in Black" I couldn't agree more with this quote......A person by themselves is typically calm, thoughtful and in control of themselves, but you put alot of people in a crowd with any kind of physical or emotional stimulus and it seems that people begin to lose not only their self-control, but their wits as well and then those people are susceptible to what is called the herd mentality..........
  6. Since when was it the Executive Branch's job to ensure the enforcement of safety regulations in the industrial sector of America, sideliner??? There are federal offices outside of the executive branch (and free of the executive branch) that are supposed to be responsible for these matters.......You know this as well as I do......You are always so quick to say it is the current administration's fault for everything, but unfortunately for you, not everything in government revolves exclusively around our executive branch of government.....
  7. LOL, that would depend on which particular HEB you shop at there dubya......
  8. Wal-Mart's policies on lunches and breaks are very clear......now IF a manager or manager's did tell associates to not go to their lunch, then yes they are at fault and should be punished....In that particular situation, I do not believe that it should necessarily be the company itself that gets punished, but the managers responsible....either way, justice has been done and life goes on.....as for unions, they can all go spit for all I care.....unions only care about their dues, and nothing more.....they are, in my opinion, no better than the old "political machines" from the earlier part of this century......
  9. Judging by many of his quotes, it is obvious that HE is a racist......You know, people talk about how racism is dying out, and then you read quotes like these in these articles, and then you realize that all these individuals like Farrakhan are doing is simply fanning the flames of bigotry, hatred, and ignorance......I wish someone would call him out and publicly denounce his demented attempts to fan the flames of racism in this country......
  10. That could be taken very RACIALLY! Only by those who are racially-minded in the first place, OBTS......my statement had nothing to do with race, and I am hoping that you are not trying to imply that it did.....
  11. Excellent story that gets a couple of really good points across.....
  12. Agree with 5-O......I have no doubt that info. on people is collected everyday, even to a degree that we couldn't even comprehend.....now I personally would not care if info. about me was collected, because I am a law-abiding citizen who has never even had a traffic citation......so I have nothing to hide, no skeleton's in my closet, and nothing to fear from my government......Those who do either need therapy or medication or just need God......
  13. Not quite sure what I would label myself.....I believe in alot of what BOTH parties stand for, but I do not restrict myself to the ideals of one party in particular......I guess I am just a middle-of-the-road kinda guy who votes for the individual, not the party........lol, we need to bring back that quiz "how liberal are you"
  14. I just say why don't we teach BOTH creationism and evolution.....I'll take Texashurdler's view on this.......teach both separately in separate classrooms......I for one, believe that BOTH creationism and evolution are at work in our world now and always have been.......As for Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, who cares??? If we are worried about offending some immigrants by saying Merry Christmas, then maybe it should be taught to all immigrants that they should respect OUR wishes as well......After all, Christmas has been celebrated in this country long before they arrived anyway.....
  15. My response to this is what is that woman smoking? Is she married to Captain Obvious? Heck yes soldiers are trained to be "killing machines," but only when the situation arises..........she is also right about another thing.....yes our soldiers are being trained differently......Now not only are our soldiers trained to be soldiers, aka "killing machines", they are apparently also trained to be civil servants like security guards, paramedics, utility workers and police officers (if you look at some of our recent military ops. around the world).....as for atrocities by our troops, I think she is simply having recurring flashbacks from the Acid trips she must have taken back in the 60's.......
  16. Sppunk, what Bush did by admitting his wrong-doing is just, but by your statements it seems to me like you believe he knew the Intel. was wrong from the get-go and still went into Iraq.......That, my friend, is the farthest you can get from the truth.........Bush received the same Intel. as the Senate, (plus a few highly confidential documents that surely the Senate was not priviledged to see) and yet the Senate still gave the OK to go to war.....With that Intel., even top democrats said YES to the vote for God's sake, so apparently there was enough info. to make everyone really concerned.........Now as to where the true blame lies, sure Bush is accepting responsibility, but he is not 100% responsible for the ensuing fiasco, the majority of the guilt for that would and should rest solely with the Intelligence Community that rounded up, prepared, and presented the information that they had collected.......Even the leaders of Jordan and Bahrain were telling our intelligence services that Saddam had these weapons and would use them.......The fact is that Bush went in on false information that was not his doing, so not only was OUR president duped, but so was the Senate, and so was the majority of America.......This was all just another matter of our Intel. services failing us miserably, like 9-11, and the WTC bombing in the 90's, etc........
  17. True, true, parentofredheads.......as a matter of fact, I have my own saying about that: One bad fruit CAN spoil the whole bushel......;)
  18. Dubya, are you just now beginning to realize this??? What you have spoken of is the true essence of a politician.......
  19. Don't forget Syria......Iran and Syria both have an interest in Iraq's future and are equipping, funding, and funneling money, fighters, and weapons into Iraq, but the tide is turning and one day soon, God willing, this conflict will come to an end......
  20. If it is meant to be, then so be it.......We can only blame ourselves for what we do.........Personally, in my opinion the human race is the most dangerous species in the entire vastness of space......I didn't need to read the Book of Revelations to see that for myself, just look around you and watch the news and you can see it for yourself.....
  21. My future father-in-law, SSG R. Barron, is one of the 3,764 soldiers in the 56th brigade combat team to come home safely from Iraq......Here is a link for the story from the Waco Tribune..... http://www.wacotrib.com/news/content/news/...6threturns.html
  22. Agreed......I approve of Bush, but I do not, by any means, agree with his ideals 100%........
  23. Of course we could adopt the Russian strategy of dealing with hostage takers......If I am not mistaken, in the 70's or so, some Russian diplomats/nationals were kidnapped by Iran, (I think it was Iran, correct me if I am wrong) and held hostage.......what did the Russians do? They also kidnapped some Iranians and began cutting off body parts and sent them to the Iranian government offices starting with fingers, toes, then ears, etc, etc........and to this day, I do not believe that any Russian nationals are or have been kidnapped and held hostage or for ransom by any other nation.......
  24. wow.... http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051202/od_nm/canada_towed_dc
  25. I am by no means a "bunny hugging liberal" but the time has come for us as a nation to seriously begin to explore and research alternative energy sources, we have become too dependent upon oil, heck, we are slaves to oil, and the time should be now to begin decreasing our dependence on it......
