  1. I don't use the Old Testament AT ALL. It was the law given to the Jews and the prophecies of the coming Messiah. When Jesus Christ rose from the dead and fulfilled all of the prophecies, the Old Testament became irrelevant. It has NO authority over Christians at all. That is highly debatable, in my opinion......Bud Light is Bud Light....The Sun is the Sun....And the Bible is the Bible.....I am no Biblical scholar, and am not familiar enough with the New Testament to quote scripture unless I am allowed time to read the good book first......However, if there is not such a passage about commands to kill, etc., then what does recorded history say about conflicts in that time period??? Is it possible that after the initial expansion and filling out of territory promised to the chosen tribes by God in the Old Testament, that a period of peace in the region followed up to and after the life of Jesus????
  2. It has everything to do with both Colmes, disregarding one section of the Bible for another is simply dodging the issue and you know it......
  3. I know my enemies, and if that makes you think I'm a bigot, then so be it. Being called names will not change my thoughts on this. Actually Colmes Middle wasn't attacking you personally, Middle was attacking your viewpoint, which is a long way off from attacking you personally.......
  4. Well Colmes, I challenge you now to read these particular chapters of the Bible and see for yourself that christianity, nor any religion for that matter, is entirely without violence......For instance: Deuteronomy Chapter 2, verse 24 to 37.....Deuteronomy Ch. 3, verse 1 to 11.........Deuteronomy Ch. 20, verse 16-18..........Joshua Ch. 8, Ch. 10, Ch. 11, verse 10-11.......Judges Ch. 1, verse 1-2.......I know there is more, but I figured that these examples would be enough for you to think about for a while.....
  5. Agreed Colligula.....I have argued a similar point in a past thread about evolution........God created the universe, and is the alpha and the omega.......Therefore, everything that is in this world, and all of it's ideas and knowledge, is because of Him, our God.......So by saying that evolution could not possibly exist, would be the same as saying that God was not wise enough to create such an ideal......Plus, if you were to look at this issue from outside the box, and say that you created mankind, would you not want a mechanism in place that would allow your creation to gradually change over time so that you would not have to constantly make changes to the "finished" product????
  6. I must admit you made some strong points there Dline.........too bad I have to work all this next week because this thread is starting to get good........Guess I will just have to wait and pick things up from here next weekend when I get back home.....
  7. tigger, in truth, no one really can say for sure.....all it truly boils down to is our own personal opinions about subjects like this, for instance.......I also share your ideal that the majority of Islam is against death and destruction, but that is still both our own opinions......
  8. I'm not trying to change your mind. I'm countering your point of view with documented evidence to back up my postition. Very well, I shall do the same...... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060219/ap_on_...eria_oil_unrest http://www.guardian.co.uk/serbia/article/0....html?gusrc=rss http://www.guardian.co.uk/yugo/0,,181286,00.html
  9. Ok.....so a few article's are supposed to change my mind, friend???? You've gotta expect more from me than that, because I surely expect more from you being the intelligent person that you no doubt must be........
  10. Colmes there are times that you bring up some good points in your posts, but this is not one of them.......Some of those incidents in Africa are due to Islam, yes, but not all of them......by your words you seem to think that EVERY major problem in the world is caused by Islam, and I am sorry my friend, but you are mistaken........Please open your mind, do the research, and see it for yourself because right now you only have eyes for Islam's dark side, which is minute compared to the positive aspect of this religion......I am christian, yet I have been able to keep an open mind about all other religions and realize that yes there are bad apples in every bushel, even christianity, but there are more pros than cons if you just allow yourself to see it........
  11. Since when did we need insurance just to drive a car?
  12. oops, that's my fake license, let me keep digging for the real one......
  13. Which is all the more reason why we should pour money into the research and implementation of alternative fuel sources to end our dependence on oil..........And give idiots like Chavez no leverage over us whatsoever.....
  14. "Religion is protected from the government, NOT from the press." ...........And I never said otherwise because I know my amendments, and what they state......... "Any media outlet is free to report what it sees and if they choose to satarize it, they are free to do that as well." .........of course they are here, but what about other european countries?? That is what I alluded to in a previous post........however, back on topic: What I believe is that even though it is not illegal here in terms of our constitution, I feel it is illegal ethically and morally to defile a religion of any type......Yes both religion and the press are protected by our constitution, not from each other, I do not disagree with you on that issue......But I feel that a thin line should exist between the two that should not be breached...... "I am referring to the members of your so called religion of peace, which by the way, just happens to be the major cause of most of the wars and conflicts now going on here on this planet." ........Got any hard evidence and statistical analysis to prove this??? Because the last time I checked, war has always been mankind's "passion" and that is not likely to change anytime soon......War has been fought over religious ideal's for thousands of years, of course, but there are also other reason's for war, several of which have reared their ugly head in recent years that do not include Islam, (or any religion for that matter) as its supreme focus......Examples include: Oil, Territory, Political Idealogy, Ethnic Cleansing, Genocide, Famine, Anarchy, Etc., Etc.
  15. LOL, hey Sideliner, you realize that FDR died in 1945, right??? So you are using an old quote for an old time......This isn't the 40's anymore buddy, and alot has happened in the world of business the last 60 years, so maybe you should update with the times........That quote might have been useful over 60 years ago, but not in today's times..... "I make it here, I spend it here......................Sideliner...." Okay, so name me a company who's products components are certified to be 100% American produced, built, assembled, packaged, marketed, and sold........I'll bet you won't find even a handful, and even if you do find a couple, try comparing prices to that of similar products from other companies who use a variety of sources for their products and see the difference in price........Every company it seems uses components for their products from other nations.....very rarely in these times will you find any product that is 100% completely domestic from its inception to creation to finished product.......
  16. What should be done with Liberal Media? Nothing, just let them keep shooting themselves in the foot, and eventually some of America will wise up........
  17. Which tends to happen in a war ya know.....besides, don't you think those American soldiers knew that as soldiers there would be a really good chance that they would/could, just maybe, at some point in time, possibly, in the forseeable future, face gunfire, bombs, etc.????.....I'm not sure if you've noticed, but in war these days they don't exactly chunk rocks at each other and shoot each other with waterguns or lob yard darts back and forth at each other ya know........:ugh:
  18. I will disagree with you yet again......I am not sure about most European countries, but here of course both the press and religion are protected in the bill of rights.........And the media here in our own country should have high enough standards to not allow itself to stoop so low as to defile any religion. In fact, I hope it goes against every newspapers statement of ethics......Islam itself IS a peaceful religion, just like Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc........however, it has only taken a disillusioned few to poison everyone's viewpoint of Islam......but what is really needed is for Muslim's themselves to control these idiots who seek to ruin their religion by sparking strife and senseless acts of destruction......
  19. This kind of activity surprises you all??? I would have thought that something like this would have come up alot sooner than now.........Now, the real question is just how credible is this info.???
  20. Good for Clinton, because I completely agree with his statements.......In this case it doesn't matter about any other country's "press rights" or even our own country's bill of rights on freedom of the press/religion.......NO newspaper/magazine etc. should ever attack religion in any form whatsoever.......Clearly a line should be drawn somewhere.......
  21. Thanks for that post with the nice pic. ET_Football, here is a link for the website, unionfacts.com: http://www.unionfacts.com/ Enjoy.....
  22. Actually, what that statement has written all over it is: "hey, we won one, and I might actually get alot of money trying to ruin a perfecty good business, so life is good for me, who cares about those butchers, what was their name again? Ah, who cares, as long as they pay us their dues." The reason why Wal-Mart has not unionized is because there is NO need for its associates to need an outside voice.....Wal-Mart has what is called the Open-Door Policy, which allows ANY associate to openly communicate ideas, problems, etc. to any member of management with the utmost of confidentiality and without the fear of retaliation.........In fact, most of the major improvements to Wal-Mart's operations have come about because of this ideal......The open door is also an effective way to solve small problems before they become big problems.......There is also the Grass Roots survey, which is done yearly to kind of give Wal-Mart senior management a report card on how things are going, and to see what other improvements can be made in the next year...... This kind of ruling is absurd in the first place......butchers, like old school barbers, are becoming extinct.......Which is kind of fitting anyway, because unions themselves are slowly fading away, so I think we all can admire the irony of the situation......
  23. lol, you just had to bring Larry the Cable Guy into this one, didn't ya........:whome:
