WH allowed almost 600 yards vs. Henderson. Nac should win if they run the ball with consistency.

I do not know about last year. I live in Tyler and have been to two  WH games this year. He is a strong runner and tough to bring down and has a strong arm.

Henderson put up a lot of offense on Nac in the live half of the scrimmage too.

  2. I thought West Rusk had the superior talent. Both teams looked good at times and very sloppy at times. As far as the coaching, I didn’t agree with what WR was doing in the 3rd quarter with a good lead going to a no backfield and passing. They had a 3 and out and let waskom back in the game. Of course the fight turned the momentum more to waskoms favor. They were very fortunate to pull this game out.

We lost our QB to Henderson that year. Toby Moon went to Henderson his Senior year and started for them. Henderson went 10 and 0 thru regular season that year. We ended up with a good replacement (Chad Grey) and he did a good job. I always wondered how far we would have went if Toby would have stayed and Chad kept his regular position.

Toby left Carlisle after junior high. He was at Henderson 9-12. But you are right about the wonder if!

  4. I’ve watched him play many times being I live here. Getting upset time after time on his reads. It’s almost like he’s afraid to run the ball. If he can change that, there’s no doubt he can take over a game. Henderson has had many dual threat QBs lately and he’s definitely got the potential. When he did pull and run, it was awesome. I’m optimistic on what he and his brother can bring to the table this year. Maturity can make a difference. If this happens, you mark my word, the lions will be at the top of the district instead of a middle contender.

#1 2023 QB in East Texas? Interesting.....

I was really hoping this thread would take off...Especially now that basketball is over and we are moving into a time of spring football / 7 on 7

    247 hasn’t done their homework.

Waskom rushed this hire he won’t be in place until July 1st and didn’t prove anything at Brownsboro. Until the select few people on the school board are removed Waskom will have talent just as always but won’t have the coach to get them there. Pearson was so hyped up as a DC when he was with Waskom but anyone could have Ben a solid DC with Amie, Benton, the Johnson’s and others. Might as well bring Jesurun back if we were looking in the retirement pool. We should have went after the Timpson coach or Beckville and made Waskom a job people would want to come to. As long as Lloyd and others are calling shots Waskom will be mediocre

I don’t understand this! Waskom hasn’t been mediocre in over a decade now. Very successful!

Let’s face it, coaches will say they’re in for the long haul to get the job when really they are just waiting on somewhere else to open up. If you look around, there are lots of coaches moving around each year. The grass is always greener somewhere else. So sometimes it is the board or the Supe, and sometimes it’s not although the board and Supe always seem to get the blame.

The sup knows the truth. No need to blame anyone.

I thought Henderson was going to make waves with the new coaching staff! ??? Must be a let down not making playoffs. The games I watched this year looked like Henderson was very disorganized on the sideline. Lots of penelties and timeouts from not getting plays in on time when on offense. But, like Lion said, maybe next year.

You nailed it! This staff might be a good jv staff.

Rusk has done nothing, minus rushing yards and maybe 30 yards passing.
FIVE turnovers with two of them inside the 8 yard line and two interceptions that were thrown straight to the defense with no receivers near the ball.

That’s a joke. Rusk is better than you think and Carthage QB is being exposed. Carthage is the best team and they now see what they are going to need to do going forward. It’s called pressure.

Well, this has been the most errors I can remember our Bulldogs having in one half.

Two fumbles, two interceptions and a muffed punt with no real pressure on King when he dropped it.

The two Cuff interceptions were thrown not really near a Bulldog receiver and directly to a Rusk defender.

Maybe Cuff will get it together and I think he can.

We are missing our top RB tonight, which hasn’t helped.

Now, CHS does get the ball to start the second half.

The defense has done pretty well, but has been on the field a lot due to all the turnovers.

Bet Surratt & Co will have the Dawgs performing much better in the second half.

I still believe Carthage will pull it out but don’t make excuses, Rusk is playing football and Carthage better get it together.

Well said, but at times when no one is open for pass the QB should run it but like you say the coach which is he's dad dnt wont him to run the ball as much, very rare you see a player that tall and a Jr. With that type of speed, the QB can run and he be in the end zone before you know it, he can take it to the house, he's twin brother on WR will see alot of looks also.

Well I guess his dad see's his future is more important than his job! He’s there to win games. The defense would be much better if the offense could move the ball and run more plays. Simple math! Less defensive plays= better defensive numbers.

SH QB threw a pick and got a concussion making the tackle.  He stayed in for a series after that, making up his own loopy plays. Lol

I guess you don’t remember him running for his life in the second half. I was sitting with some old SH coaches and was getting all the info that most people don’t even see the difference. SH won the first half and barely was ahead and then got hammered the second half. Dillon Brown was a badass but he got hit several times that led to the breakdown. Henderson went man to man and the talent level showed real quick.
