  1. Same story for Celina. Only difference now is there in region 1 and can make it a couple more rounds. East Texas has a curse on the Bobcats.
  2. Has Gladewaters fans started showing up yet? If not, Lobo stadium will be 2/3 empty. I was really surprised at there home crowds being so small. Its not like the days back when Murphy was there.
  3. Maybe you should check in on Henderson's defense! They will alter your offence.
  4. This forum is very confusing. Is PG good or do they make mistakes? Or do good teams cause you to make mistakes? Im not sold on any of this bull. PG finally played a good team and look what happened! This game is wide open and im a genius. The team that makes fewer mistakes will most likely win.
  5. HaHa! Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers! Dropped passes and stupid penalties! They were awful tonight! Bad calls doesnt have anything to do with that.
  6. Dont get confused by one guy that has a gazillion posts. Kilgore has alot of supporters from Henderson! I will take the Kilgore Bulldogs in this one.
  7. Celina is not the big boy when they play against East Texas teams. They have had a tough road in the past but there soft schedules fool the polls every year.
  8. And that same result being Pittsburg winning a little over half of there games over 5 years, which is right where they have been for the last 5 years. Dont expect any miracles unless you have a very special group of kids coming up.
  9. I say go with your ace in the semi final because there is no final without the win. And it all depends on the depth of the other teams pitching on making that decision. Both pitchers are really good but i would go with Gunner first. Last year, Gunner came in at the end of the semi game only to let it get away.
  10. Very small visitor seating = Home field advantage!
  11. The only thing that is still 1936 in Henderson is the dirt. It was originally built in that location but thats all. West Rusk just rebuilt a new facility in its original location that has to date back before 1937 because if you look at the explosion pics, it in the same place.Does that mean its an old field too? Henderson completely rebuilt the bleachers in the mid 80s and since have done more renovations. Im sure there are older places. No its not state of the art and Henderson does need a new bigger place but by no means is it that bad. The oldest part is some structure on the home side and the field house that dates in the 50s. I dont think there are many 2a teams that can seat 7,500 people at a football game, so your repeated comment Lionking is a joke. Your not a true fan!
  12. Not disrespecting anyone. You said " We did not win state because we were 3a". I said we did! Henderson had a very good team that year and dropping down was perfect timing. No disrespect but come on, maybe a couple of rounds in 4a is all we had. Im as proud of our lions as anyone and nearly 30 years removed, i still make alot of games although i live elsewhere. As long as i can remember, which is in the early 70s, Henderson competed well in all 3 major sports year in and year out. Basketball teams with 20 plus wins every year. District champions or runner ups in all three were common. Never anyones homecoming queen as you often state in football. The new 3a is looking more like the old 4a back then. Yes we are a big school and we need to compete better than we do in the other sports. Whoever gets the new AD job needs to fill these coaching jobs with a little more care and not just get someone off the street. These athletes coming through our program right now are kids of our era and the potential is there. People are saying that the talent coming is down. I say no way, we have the numbers to reload. Talent is different every year, we just need to adapt to what is there. Hard work in the offseason is the key and coaches recognizing where and how to play them. There are not Del Barnes and Patrick Browns every year but kids with good attitudes and work ethics can make a difference. Look what Gilmer did this year. They lost alot of kids and they were down at first but kept on working week after week with no superstars and look where they ended up. Every sport is the same. Hard work, good coaches and the end result comes out the same.
  13. Yes we did win state because we were 3a. We did have a great team but by no means would have won 4a.
  14. This is a basketball thread! And yes i hate to say but Hendersons athletic program these days is down overall.
  15. Lionking, I grew up in Henderson and graduated in the 80s. You continually make slanderous remarks towards Spring Hill for some reason. They are very small in size, almost half of what Henderson is but they play and practice just as hard as the lions do. The sports that dont field big numbers like basketball, baseball, track, golf and tennis, they kick the lions butt anually. Back in the day we were very competitive in all sports as you can look back and see. I wouldnt slander any kids or there programs at all and especially looking at Hendersons overall program. If Henderson was back in 4A, they would be in the same situation again just like Spring Hill is in football. Please ease up with the remarks. There are alot of kids that read this forum and its not funny at all.
  16. Your right, his son played at Mt Vernon but he DM was only there for i think 5 to 6 years. He is from Louisiana originally and came to Chapel Hill from there. Then on to Pine Tree, and then to Mt Vernon before back to Henderson. My understanding is he and coach Manley had ties and he has known about this job alot longer than most of us. If you look at his history, his record is good but not great although he has 2 rings. He looks like the type of guy that enjoys moving on after a little success and sharing his talents with others. I really dont think he has ever not been liked anywhere he has been and moving on when he does will surely keep it that way. He is a very unselfish person and Pittsburg will be happy that they have him. I would say a handfull of years there with getting the football program back in the playoffs and maybe a little more, then he will ride off in the sunset for good. Good luck Pittsburg!
  17. This thread has not been the same without goduke! Really kind of boring. Anyways, go Buckeyes, all of east texas and 16aaa are pulling for you!
  18. Part of this maybe right! The second part definatly wrong. Look back to 1983 and theres your answer.
  19. There is no doubt that Bullard and possibly CHill would still be standing if they had made it and were on the same path as Gilmer and Henderson. Gladewater and Spring Hill could have beaten Quinlan Ford. Van and Canton would have been a good even match for Bullard and or CHill. DOD is a challenge from top to bottom. Spring Hill played strong at the first of district but kept fumbling and Gladewater as always gave Gilmer a challenge.
  20. Yea right! had to hurry home to check his computer and look at rivals.com and the stats to see what had gone wrong!
  21. Please tell the guy that blows that triple stacked train horn to blow it like last year before the game! That really got the visitors fired up before the game more so than the home team. Talk about reverse phsycology
