  1. The fact that Jett and and JJ are picking against Gunter makes me feel even more comfortable for this game.
  2. 7:00, Friday at Wichita Falls Memorial.
  3. This guy is the one to tell you to have thick skin in pertaining to being able to take jabs lol. Pot, meet kettle.
  4. If your honest assessment of Gunter is that they're like Leonard, you literally have ZERO clue when it pertains to the game of football. Continue to beat that chest about your previous 3 wins, and see where that gets you come 10 pm Friday night. Winona will be in the gym working on lay ups and free throws this time a week from now.
  5. A few things to point out pertaining to the lead up for this game. First off, congratulations to Winona on making it this far as nobody (including myself) saw the Wildcats making it this far. Already a lot of talk on this forum (majority of it coming from the 2 Winona homers) already in how these teams are going to match up, and mostly how Winona is playing extremely well, how Gunter hasn't seen a team this athletic, and how Winona is going to get the W... Let's get a few things squared away. One, Winona is an 8-5 team who beat Daingerfield (a way below average team, and that's giving them credit), a Leonard team that completely shut it down when they got behind (hence the 51-12 result), and a 3rd place Whitewright team who although is very well coached, is not the most athletic of teams and really only got to last week's game based off a VERY WEAK side of the bracket. Two, this will be the most complete team Winona has faced all season, as Gunter is very sound in all 3 facets of the game (especially on the defensive side of the ball). Again, I'd like to congratulate Winona on making it this far, and everything they've accomplished to this point as it's well deserved. But the fairy tale run comes to an end this Friday evening in Forney, TX. Gunter will be way too sound, and way too physical for the Wildcats, and I expect this game to be over with by the half. This 13-0 Gunter team has one goal on their mind, and after Friday they'll have 2 more rungs of the ladder left to achieve that goal.
  6. Hooks has 2-3 game breakers, but with that being said, Gunter is a well disciplined team and is extremely well coached. Look for Gunter to exert their will early and often in this contest. Gunter wins 41-13.
  7. Leonard wins this game by 2-3 TD's. District 7 is a complete joke, which is why Winona handled Daingerfield the way they did. Leonard is a well coached team, with 2 explosive players in #1 and #10. Only way Winona has a chance in this game is Leonard coughing the ball up multiple times.
  8. Gunter is RB by committee this year. QB is the leading rusher on the team, and has a very good arm as well. Hopefully will be a better contest than the Regional Final last year. I look for the Gunter offense to be more successful this year compared to last as they can do a few more things. Waskom is the best team in the state for a reason as they are very efficient on offense and the defense is very stifling. I've read a lot from Waskom posters this year that they believe their defense is better compared to last, and I have to disagree. Losing KJ at free safety was a big loss, and I feel as though the d line was much better last year as well. Good luck to you boys from Waskom this week, and like I said last year, if Gunter doesn't win it all, I hope y'all do. Have a lot of respect for where the Waskom program has come from to where it's at now. To all the Wildcat fans traveling to Mt. Pleasant Friday, be safe and I hope for a highly competitive game.
  9. GTAlumnus, I've always been one to back you and your arguments over the years on these forums based off the fact you're a fan of Gunter, and how much you truly support them. But for the most part in pertaining to this year's team, your level of knowledge, or lack thereof, has been on full display, especially when speaking of the offense. For one, you say Gunter runs the spread. Gunter operates out of the gun, yes, but that doesn't mean it's considered the spread. Gunter uses a tight end and an H Back 75-80% of their snaps. Gunter's best runner is their QB, and to utilize his feet, the gun is the best option. I understand things haven't gone this year the way they usually do for Gunter football, but that comes with the territory after losing the group of seniors and leadership they lost last year. As for the game tonight, I expect Gunter to win and setup a rematch next week of last year's regional final against Waskom.
  10. The talent depth is definitely not close? For one, this was posted on East Texas Sports Network, so of course they're gonna have a more in depth outlook on the play makers for Waskom opposed to Gunter. Two, I for one, and I'd be willing to bet that even the Waskom folks know there's more than 3 players on this Gunter team that can hurt an opposing team.
  11. Couldn't agree more, GT. I feel as though it could take 2-3 possessions for the defense to get comfortable, but if the offense starts fast, and can somehow give us a lead going to the half, I'll feel very good about our chances. This team has shown a propensity of putting games away in the 2nd half.
  12. Hahaha, I like the sense of humor, wild. No hard feelings from earlier in the week, hope for a great game with no injuries. Have a lot of respect for you guys from Waskom. If it's not us hoisting the championship trophy two weeks from now, I hope it's y'all.
