yea, padding your stats is not going to help you in the playoffs....and even if they are "working" on things, they are doing it against inferior opponents so i don't think your getting much "work" done thats going to help you going forward....i have noticed their high scores against weaker opponents even before district started and thought they must really be talented offensively but then watched them against a good defense and that high octane scoring got shut down ....i agree they are good team and look forward to the rematch with LO

Commerce should win, but I will give Alba the edge since its AT Alba and Commerce is also coming off a tough home loss to EW (they are probably down morale wise) and may be looking past Alba to Friday nights home game with LO

go to the UIL site and look at the forms section under high school basketball....there is a form called Basketball District Certification Form...it has fields for 1st thru 4th places...it doesn't say anything about the 1st half or second half....common sense and logic would say this is over the entire course of district play

wishful thinking, there are no rounds in district play...overall record after 14 games is what counts and there are 5 games left and LO has 2 game lead....good win by EW last night though...can't wait for the LO / EW rematch!

what was terrible was the ref trying to incite the crowd....he should be suspended....the razzing by the lone oak fans was no worse than any other teams fans after a bad call...ref needs to get thicker skin and quit looking into the crowd

actually Commerce beat Alba......Commerce has only lost to LO & EW....AG is tied for 4th in district with Quitman and Quitman would hold the playoff tie-breaker at this point

I too am looking forward to the rest of the season...I think LO & EW are clearly 1-2 and Commerce is 3rd best team...Alba/Quitman are 4-5 (not sure of order) with Winnsboro next and GS/CP are basically JV teams...2nd half for LO will be tougher as only Quitman is a home game (the other top opponents are all away games). This next week will be away games at Alba then Winnsboro and neither should be taken lightly....I'm really surprised that Alba beat Edgewood as I wasn't too impressed with Alba the first time we played them--What happened EW guys? Did AG just have better game plan or just hit everything they tossed up? or what? I didn't get to see it, so i have no idea.

Agreed the EW has great coaching but they didn't out-coach LO last night unless you count it by sheer numbers---6 EW coaches on bench to LO 2 coaches---looking forward to the rematch at EW on Feb 11th!

I'm biased but I will have to take LO. They played a tough non-district schedule where their only losses were to Red Oak Life (ranked at time), Dallas St Marks, and Royse City (both at WP tourney). They also have a quality win AT Clarksville, who is 10th ranked team in 2A. I agree EW will be fired up after the AG loss but LO has been looking to this game all season and will be fired up too. I think home court gives them the edge.

They are also making a mistake by making the 3200 runners compete at 2:00 in the heat of the day when the other regions are running at 8:00 and 10:00 am. That's a clear disadvantage for one of the wild card spots.
