  1. Why are they not playing in the Tyler tourney......A lot of very good teams there...

They are part of the Waco Robinson Tournament that started on Thurs. They won all three of their game. Don't play today, but resume wth bracket play on Saturday. There are 28 teams in this tournament.

  2. Coach Windham,

You will greatly enjoy the baseball kids at Spring Hill, as well as their parents/families (They made me and my family feel very welcome). The Dixie system they have is incredible, the pipeline of players will never run dry and they do great job running the league. The baseball kids you will have returning know how to win and how to work hard. They ARE NOT prima-donnas. They will play extremely hard and never quit. You will also love the teachers that you work with, great people. Athletic secretary will keep you in line, she is great! Guy that takes care of your field is priceless. Dont take the nets down, kids will hit year round. Best of Luck man

All true- expecially that part about the secretary! Thanks coach!

  3. I still havent had anyone answer my question, except for the longview news-journal (story in weekend paper)

    1. Will he keep the Off-season basketball program?

    2. Will he keep Hector (will Hector stay)

The above was answered in paper in story "with his east texas connection he will be able to use that network to assemble his staff" or something to that point.

He hasn't even meet with the staff yet.

  4. Agree....spring hill is a fluff but no meat to itself......no money only at all! No tax base other than a few fancy neighborhoods....I lived there recently and moved to Longview Sid...the demographics will be changing soon also a bit....people moved there to get away from the real world, but it's funny how it's following them!money problems and facts of being a diverse state ethnic wise....allowing transfers is funny! How it's changed for the almighty dollar!

I wholeheartedly believe this is still a great school. Our academics, music and athletic programs do well every year. We were district champs in UIL Academics, had Sweepstakes Band and lead over all in the sports competition. It's not all about football. Our kids work hard at everything. It's not just handed to them. It is what it is as far as cuts and we are dealing with it the best we can.

  5. Not impressed. He certainly deserves a fair shake, but 20-21, 30-38-1, with one playoff appearance and a " one and done" vs Paul Pewitt hardly deserves a parade.

He gets to bring one Asst Coach, and can't expand the staff. Sounds like a program that isn't committed to hiring a top notch guy or giving him a real chance. And sounds like a guy who will take those terms knowing he has little chance of success. In this district, he will be faced with more challenges than he ever thought about at OC.

Why can programs like Gilmer, Carthage, Henderson, and Chapel Hill afford 12 plus assts, and SH can just have 5? Not enough butter to spread over the bread.

It's called state funding cuts, and they hit SH hard. We don't have the tax base of a lot of businesses, just houses. You can only squeeze so many people into 9.12 sqare miles. There is no "extra" money in the budget. A town hall meeting will be held soon to hear from the residents on ways to increase revenue for the district, i.e. allowing transfers (for a fee) or raising taxes. We will see what happens.

  6. celtic,

because those schools care about athletics just like 99% of other schools in east texas.

How many coaches did SH lose to Sabine this year? You guys dont pay enough money. You have no loyalty to the ones you have, see above about hiring coaches spouses. So much for taking care of the people who work for you.

Word on the street is that the coaching exodus out of SH is not over, expect more departures, not due to the district of doom, not due to the kids.

Four coaches went to Sabine. Keith Taylor left because didn't want to work on Sat. during football season to edit football video that he recorded on Friday nights. Mayfield and Barker were let go. Comfort left on his own.

  7. I don't know what goes on with the Jr high program but it doesn't look good when kids win every game in 5th and 6th and then lose every game in 7th and 8th.

Possibly because not all kids are able to afford to play little league football at other schools. These could be the better athletes for those schools. When they get to Jr. High everybody plays.

  8. I have no idea where the SH fans were when all of this is going on...I was there, middle court. The large contingent of the unruley must have been in the "Back Court"...I neither saw or heard anything out of line. I called my bud that was with me & asked him about it...he agrees...either the SH fans have their games confused or were doing mind altering stuff. As far as the ref hitting the ground...it occured under the basket with several from both teams...he was slow, got in the way & was bumped. It was so bad that the other refs did not blow the whistle for awhile...only after they realized he had not gotten up. The Panthers are having a rough time adjusting to Gilmer taking the "W" in somthing besides football. Get a grip SH.

Please don't take the comments and opinions of one person (panther89) as representing "all" of Spring Hill.

  9. Didn't the Spring Hill Boys have a game last night against Mt. Vernon? I haven't seen a score or any updates in the Longview News-Journal! I know that the Lady Panthers were beaten by Bullard last night, but no score for the Panthers! Anyone have an update?

9th, JV & Varsity all won by 30+ points.
