  1. No apology necessary. High school football is fun and gives us old coots something to talk about.
  2. Hemphill isn’t cocky, but they are hungry. Most of these boys weren’t born the last time Hemphill won a playoff game, so no, they won’t be taking anybody lightly.
  3. Knowing Coach Vanya, I don’t think that will happen.
  4. I hope the Hemphill boys are not reading the opinions that have them favored to win. New Diana played Newton to10 points and Daingerfield to four. Elysian Fields beat ND by 20. Not sure how Hemphill is picked to win. We’ll know tomorrow night.
  5. I understand you have to focus on the run with Hemphill’s two backs, but look at some of the game recaps. They will throw the ball 12-15 times a game.

  7. Interesting stats. Am I reading that correctly? Hemphill is ranked as #3 in the region? Seems a little high to me, but I like it. Where is this from? Looks like a good matchup.
  8. If they’re not strong against the run, Hemphill will score 60.
  9. I don’t really seeing EF as being the underdog. Hemphill is getting respect and they deserve it, but EF has a solid tradition and has won more than lost. HEMPHILL lost two games they should have won and the defense has struggled at times. The Hornets have a lot of talent and play hard. If they can avoid a slew of penalties and turnovers they have a chance to win a playoff game for the first time in a long time. I hope it’s a good game.
  10. That could happen. It is high school football. But to do that, I believe EF will have to put up at least 50, and that’s only happened twice this year—against Queen City and Ore City. So we’ll see...
  11. Looks like this game may be for the fourth playoff spot. Of course that is assuming Corrigan beats Hemphill in the final game. If Hemphill beats NW and Corrigan, there’ll probably be a three-way tie for second. I have no clue what the tiebreakers are. Thoughts?
  12. Unfortunately I’m afraid you’re right. Anderson Shiro was better than I expected. Very physical. Three early turnovers and the inability to convert PATs in this game cost the Hornets what could have been a hard fought victory. They looked pretty beat up at the end of the game, so I’m just hoping they can get their confidence back after going to Newton and turn it around in the last three games.
  13. You ran almost at will, especially in the second half. Your offensive line opened some good holes and once your backs get some space...
