After winning the rivalry game with Pittsburg, Mount Pleasant turns to a different rival in the form of the Wildcats. This isn't as big of a rivalry as it once was. The 90s saw these 2 teams beat up on each other in district play and in the playoffs. They are both coming into the game after blowout wins last week. Is it going to happen just like last year with the Wildcats taking the victory or can the Tigers steal one away? Last year the Wildacts won but the Tigers also did not have McMinn because of an injury against the Pirates. This year he is 100%. It will be fun to watch him go head-to-head against the Wildcats QB, who stifled the Tigers defense last season. This may end up as much of a classic as those 90s matchups did. All I can say is I hope the Tigers can protect out house and get a victory. GO TIGERS!!!

So question, MP is at Pittsburg to start the season, with these 2 schools being as big of rivals as they are and Pittsburg being so much smaller, would you play the game in Pittsburg (scheduled home) or play in MP with MP being the away team and Pitt get the gate?

Yup. Which was what i was afraid of after them dominating everyone except for a little scare from Hallsville.

The good thing about MP's bond proposal 2 years ago was that there really wasnt any opposition. The high school got fully renovated. In 2002 however to replace all elementary schools was a lot harder. It took a couple years to get that one passed. They had started trying to get that bond passed in 2000. Hope Marshall can get theirs passed.

MP boys and girls knocked out tonight by Metroplex schools. This was why I was worried about them.

Mp ladies move on 52-34. Mp boys move on 57-38. Still going strong and undefeated. Thinking both might be playing for a while. Those metroplex schools are starting to get worrysome especially on the boys side.

Mp finished the season the same as the ladies, undefeated (33-0) after beating Tyler 73-54. They will play Porter in Palestine next Tuesday. Tough draw for Porter. Seen all of MPs home games on youtube, not really been sloppy. The only game they were sloppy was against Hallsville and had to fight to win that one. So beating MP is not out of the question. But I expect them to represent East Texas in the playoffs against the metroplex schools. GO TIGERS!!!

Its definitely a first for MP. I remember growing up MP was a laughing stock in basketball but a force in football. It has completely flipped the script since the 90s.

So as we sit right now, it will be MP boys vs Porter and MP girls vs Nac in the first round?
