Pleasant Grove's weakness is the secondary. Argyle could have hung a hundred on them if they would have kept their starters in the game and kept throwing. I think Carthage sees the same success. Give me Carthage by two touchdowns.

I'm a Texas High grad from long ago and have been away from there since shortly after high school. The rivalry with Arkansas High was about as big as one could imagine at that time. I'd be interested in hearing from someone still in that area... do the T-High folks still think of this like they did in days gone by, or has it lost its luster with how lopsided it is?
I would say it has lost it's luster. The size disparity between the two schools is quite large right now. Texas High should never really lose to Arkansas High any more with the number of athletes the two schools have to choose from. It's still a big game and well supported but nothing near like it was when the schools were close to the same size.

Dang Calhoun took a 95 mph heater to the face today.
I was okay watching the replays. Then I saw a replay with the sound turned up and the sound of that impact made me sick to my stomach! I bet a lot of players turn to the face guard after this occurrence!

Johnny Green, who retired as the Texarkana Gazette Sports Director, passed Tuesday. Under his leadership, the Gazette had a very good local sports section. They not only covered the four Texarkana high schools, but also area schools in Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas. His primary beat was Texas High. RIP Mr. Green.
Great journalist and friend. He also was a top notch baseball umpire in his day. Prayers go out to his family and friends during this difficult time!

Top 30 class. Pittman off to a good start.
Bad news is there are 11 SEC teams with higher ranked classes than my Hogs!

true but itd be nice since its right next to the baseball fields at spring lake park.
i know there are smaller water towers in pg, le and on the arkansas side not sure if the the big one is the only one in the t-high district. could have those done with the titles for the schools. im sure it would be done then someone would be upset because their little johnny won a uil championship in competitive calculator skills and its not listed.
There is a water tower in the Highland Park neighborhood

Best players for PG today: #2, #44, #10, #1, #40, #25 and #10 for Wimberley!
-
Ok, thanks. # 11 did a good job tonight and looked much better than the few plays he had against PG last time. The other QB was the better passer and when they got pretty far behind PG I wondered why he wasn't in the game.

Where was the QB for Gilmer that played most of the game against PG earlier this season?

I'm not certain if he even had a tackle. I wouldn't count on that happening again, although I hope it does.
Gilmer double teamed him most of the game. They did a fantastic job. Most of his tackles were in chase mode. I would use the same gameplan if I was Gilmer!

Dudes a knucklehead, serious knucklehead. I wonder if he’ll play kind of the Tyrone Crawford role? A little 3 tech, fill in on the edge for Tank and Quinn. For a 7th rounder, at worst a 6th it’s not too bad a investment if he bums out.
That's exactly what he will do is fill Crawford's role. I can't stand the guy! Hopefully ole Jerry has briefed him on their anthem policy too!

Sounds like the fumble through the end zone was a big play. If Gilmer is able to hold onto the ball and score there, it’s a 35-31 ball game.
I could easily see these two teams meeting again. Hopefully, Gilmer can get the second one.
That was a crucial play. Touchdown there may not have led to a Gilmer victory but it sure would have had PG sweating! Really entertaining ballgame and great atmosphere. Good luck to both of these teams going forward!

I thought the biggest play in the game is when Carthage stopped Pleasant Grove in Carthage territory on 4th down with Carthage up 21-14. PG was already having trouble stopping Carthage at that point and I think that stop prevented any momentum from swinging PG's way. I know we are quick to criticize officials but I thought that crew last night did an outstanding job. They let the kids play and with both teams playing at a fast pace, that crew hustled and got the ball back in play after each play to let the teams play at the pace they liked. Great job by the refs!

Watched it on the internet. Great game! Both teams have a lot to be proud of. Officiating played no role in the outcome!

I saw where kickoff is at 7:00...
Does T High play all of their games at 7:00?
With the new district that Texas High is in and the travel with it being mostly Metroplex teams, the district decided to start the games at 7:00. Texas High has kept the starting times of their non-district home games at 7:00 to get used to it.

A lot of the experts think he may not get signed until after the first regular season game. He would not be guaranteed the veteran salary at that point in time and could be cut at any time without having to be paid for the whole year.

Anyone know what a legal hit is? Cause the refs in this Hall of Fame game don't.
I sure hope this gets better. The last one I saw called for a penalty, the defensive player put his shoulder in the receiver's chest and wrapped his arms around him for a form tackle! I won't be able to watch football if tackles like that are going to be flagged. Offenses will dominate!

Kirbyville wins game 2 4-0 and eliminates West to advance to the finals. Will rice pitches a complete perfect game for KVILLE.
Is Kirbyville coached by Craig Jones, the former baseball coach at Pleasant Grove?

Go up and get either Derwin James or Roquan Smith!

The two areas that I would like to see them fix first and foremost are the two that I think sunk this season. They need to shore up the tackle position for when Tyron Smith goes out and they need to shore up the linebacker position for when Sean Lee goes out.

Does Craig Jones coach a position in football at WOS?

Pretty ironic that the Astros "helped" eliminate the Rangers in a series that should be taking place in Houston. Not to mention they are doing it in butt-whooping style. Congratulations to you Astros fans, I hope your team does well in the playoffs!

Razorbacks 2020 Thread

At least the games have been watchable this year. The Razorbacks have been competitive in most games and have shown vast improvement over the last few seasons. Very happy with the job Sam Pittman has done and look forward to good things in future seasons. They definitely need to learn how to finish though.
