  1. Texarkana ISD numbers were released to staff last Friday but have not been broadcast. One of the staff members did say that the number was under 2000.
  2. I would like to see them bring back both Gallardo and Colby Lewis. I know that lineup is awfully left handed but I would rather see them give up on Josh Hamilton than Mitch Moreland. Why have they never talked about Moreland in the outfield, didn't he come up as an outfielder in the Rangers' organization? I also would like to be rid of Elvis Andrus and Derek Holland. Holland is another C.J. Wilson. A goofball and jokester who is more concerned with being funny than perfecting his craft.
  3. You have to give Jon Daniels credit also. The moves he made before the trade deadline have really clicked. He solidified the bullpen and got them a quality starter in Hamels. Even the moves to get Venable and Napoli provided depth and veteran leadership. You're right though, DeShields being in that lineup at leadoff makes all the difference in the world!
  4. Texas High girls lead Longview girls at halftime 40-27.
  5. I believe that's right bordertown. They have 2 Division I double digit scorers. One of them didn't play in the tourney. I think they only had 6 players available during those games.
  6. According to the Texarkana Gazette the season records for the Texas High boys and girls basketball teams are as follows: boys=5-9, girls=13-4
  7. Great memories over the years with Al. Not only did he broadcast games I was involved in as an athlete at Texas High but he also was a wealth of knowledge about all Texas High sports over the last 50 years. I had the opportunity on many occasions to sit with him at sporting events and listen to him tell stories about all things Texas High. Priceless! My prayers and condolences go out to all his family, friends and Texas High fans. I bet he's showing Watty Myers his shiny new state championship rings in heaven as we speak!
  8. I personally am ramping up my expectations for this team. I do think that this team being relatively healthy is helping them be as good as they are. I think above all, this team is growing in confidence. Romo said it yesterday in his post game press conference when asked how they could overcome the deficit unlike they could two years ago and he said, "We're a better team now".
  9. Barry Norton has always done a good job of keeping the Longview games close at Grim. I don't think that will be the case this time. I see Longview winning by at least 14 points. Norton will probably pull a trick play out of his hat but I'm sure the Lobos will be looking for that. I am hoping for a close game but not expecting one.
  10. I actually hope they keep both of these guys out for this game. I would rather them be healthy and get back on the field for the 2 division games coming up.
  11. I wish there was some way that the Rangers could get Clint Hurdle away from the Pirates. That's who I would love to have as their manager! He did a phenomenal job as their hitting coach the two years that they went to the World Series!
  12. I think you throw an amount out there that you can live with. If he will play for that then fine and if not, let him go. It's always tricky signing these running backs to second contracts. He's probably going to want to get paid top dollar and I don't think the Cowboys should pay that. They still have to get something done with Dez and I think that will be priority #1.
  13. I bet he's missing that 39,000 dollar a week paycheck about right now!
  14. Gutsy game by Romo and he led this team when it needed it. The defense played good enough for all the spares they have to run out there. The Cowboy's offense has to help this defense who is decimated by injuries and playing with a lot of inexperienced players. There is no excuse for the Cowboy's offense not to play well. They are possibly the healthiest offense in the NFL with only Waters not available and an experienced backup in Bernadeau playing in his place.
  15. Plenty of blame to go around in this one. Coaching and playcalling have to top the list. This defense is bad and we have known that for weeks now. The offense has to step up and keep scoring and convert touchdowns instead of field goals. When the defense does have a chance for a turnover, they've got to make the play. Tony Romo played terrible yesterday. I dare anyone to defend him. He threw the two interceptions but his overthrows and underthrows were just as costly. His audibling out of the run play to a pass and then throwing off his back foot for an interception was inexcusible. You know why he almost got sacked? Because the offensive linemen were blocking for a run play and let Matthews go. I want to go back to a tough coach who makes all the players accountable. No more softies like Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett. I love Dez's passion for the game but his immaturity ruins all that. He needs to spend some time with the Jerry Rice's and Lynn Swann's of the world and learn to act and play like them.
  16. I don't really fault this defense. Really it was like 1st stringers for the Saints going against 3rd stringers for the Cowboys. The only problem I have there is the lack of quality depth that the Cowboys have failed to obtain over the years. I'm ticked at the offense. In a game like last night, you have to find a way to score with them. The Cowboys are not playing with 3rd stringers on this offense. When they take Dez away, you need to have a number 2 receiver that can make them pay. Thank you Miles Austin for not ever being able to be on the field, and thank you Jerry Jones for paying him big money to stand on the sidelines. You are having to depend on a rookie in Terrance Williams, who is obviously playing like a rookie sometimes. The coaching and the player acquisition on this team is horrendous. I'm ready to blow it up and start all over. It worked in the late 80's and I'd like to see it happen again!
  17. I will be pulling for either a Red Sox/Indians vs. St. Louis World Series. That way a Texarkana area boy will get a ring. The Indians have Drew Stubbs from Atlanta, Tx. The Red Sox have Will Middlebrooks from Texarkana, and the Cardinals have Michael Wacha from Texarkana. Hope it works out that way!
  18. Do you really think that the Cowboys would have stopped the Chargers if Williams would have scored? I don't. They would have had to make a tough decision about onside kicking or getting a three-and-out on a team that had shredded them all day long, especially in the second half.
  19. Nice synopsis and good writing too. I'm a Texas High supporter and this may be the best defense they have had in years. The offense is coming around but inexperience on the offensive line has led to some inconsistent play at times. Each week I see the Tigers run and throw the ball a little better so I see them growing. I expect them to be very competitive in district play and could possibly sneak back into another district championship.
  20. I too predict that Lee wins this one pretty handily. Big step up in competition for the Tigers as compared to their oppponents the last two weeks.
  21. I saw it and that and several other plays shows me Free will be a liability this year. Bernadeau got pushed back into Romo several times himself. I thought Frederick and the left side of the line were pretty solid. They will have to get a better answer at right guard and Free will have to play better if Romo is to stay upright.
  22. Like bordertown said, if the defense crosses the line of scrimmage before the ball is snapped then play stops and offsides is called. There is no moving past the line of scrimmage but getting back before the ball is snapped to avoid a penalty.
  23. They alternated quarterbacks at times last year with Donelson and Javon Rigsby handling the duties. That might be what you were remembering.
