  1. I stand corrected. How about "his improvement on the field".
  2. It ended up being a pretty good game for two subpar teams. The struggles in the first half had everything to do with bad offensive line play but they played much better in the second half and the offense began to click. Obvious what a running game does for you and opened up the play action. The maturation of Dez is exciting to watch and I've been a big critic of him so far. I think it is also obvious what Spencer does for the defense, they've got to get him signed. I don't think playoffs should even be mentioned for the Cowboys, they dug that hole too deep a few weeks back. I was glad to see them get some balance offensively and finish a game for once!
  3. I'm expecting Texas High to be really good. Ryan Fant will be as good if not better than any pitcher in this area. Hopefully he has made even more improvement over last year. If they have a solid second starting pitcher then they should be good to go on the mound. With Hunter Hatfield not playing football this year and concentrating solely on baseball, I'm looking for big things from him.
  4. I've been a Cowboy fan since 1975. I'll never be a bandwagon fan, I'm with them whether they win or lose. But I'm definitely a Cowboy realist. I'm not afraid to tell you when they stink! Got in trouble with the wife the other day when I was planning my Sunday around the Cowboy game by reminding her that I loved them long before I loved her. I'm just afraid we have become the Oakland Raiders. A below average football team with a meddlesome owner. Sometimes I wonder why I waste 3 hours of my week watching that mess. I'll still do it , though my expectations of this team went down a long time ago. I will admit that I no longer go to the games, the product is not worth the price! I long for the day that they return back to the top, unfortunately I don't see that happening anytime soon!
  5. Sure, injuries can be blamed some for this Cowboys performance but there are alot of other things this team is doing or not doing that is getting them beat. The slow starts and getting behind in these games are taking them out of their game plan early. The coaching staff doesn't seem able to make adjustments early and it takes a halftime break to get some things fixed. The Cowboys got schooled by the Redskins on what a running game can do for you and how it opens up the play action pass. Until this offensive line becomes a priority then they will continue to struggle running the football for seasons to come and all the things that being able to run the football opens up will go by the wayside. Yes, Robert Griffin III was impressive and he will be a thorn in the Cowboys side for many seasons to come.
  6. I wanted to come on here and admit I was wrong last week about Free's lunch getting eaten by Babin. He waited a week later to give it to the Browns.
  7. This was a difficult year with yes, some questionable decisions. In reality though, this team probably ended up about where I expected. There could have been a few more ball games won in the pre-district/district games but I don't think many playoff wins would have come. This was a young, inexperienced team that I thought got better as the year went on. Hopefully next year there will be intense competition for all positions and the best at each position will earn their spots. I look for good things out of Texas High next year!
  8. This should be a convincing win for the Cowboys over an inferior team. My only concern is they haven't won back to back games in a long time. At some point in time the Cowboys have to start winning at home the majority of the time and make Cowboys Stadium the homefield advantage it used to be a long time ago.
  9. Yeah, that offensive line was stellar. I'd really brag on how one person did! Maybe he was getting help and that opened some opportunities for someone else to pound on our quarterback and running backs. I'd be careful what I got excited about!
  10. Alot of prognosticators have the Cowboys winning this one. I really don't understand how. The eagles have owned the cowboys the last several years and especially in Philadelphia. True, the eagles offensive line is worse than the cowboys but I don't see how much else is worse. Babin is going to eat Free's lunch. I see the eagles winning this one in a close ballgame between two below average teams with little margin for errors.
  11. I see this as being a pretty plain vanilla game by both teams. Not much to play for other than momentum going in to the playoffs. There will be playoff opponents there scouting both teams so I'm sure they won't want to show them much. If anybody for Texas High is marginally injured then I hope they are held out for the playoff game. Since it is Senior Night for Hallsville and they seem to have the better team, then I will predict that they win 28-20.
  12. I know I kind of have my feathers ruffled about this situation. Maybe I'm being too sensitive about what I hear. Last night I watched the head coach's show just like I have done all year. When commenting on some plays, he mentioned the backup qb by name and said, " He didn't read this right" or "He shouldn't have done this or that". I have not consistently seen him call out his son by name on this show but seems to make general statements like "We need to protect better" or "We need to make those throws better" or "We need to make those catches". Seems awfully biased to me. When all is said and done, I just hope that whoever the best performers are get to play when the game is on the line and there is no agenda to anybody else getting to play.
  13. This team has to put more of a premium on the offensive line either through the draft or free agency. Don't settle for backups in free agency or lower round draft picks. Tyron Smith is an example of what drafting a top notch lineman can do for you. Yes, he's struggled a little this year but he is in his second year and learning a new position. Look at the rest of the O-line. Free=underachiever since getting his big contract. Bernadeau=a backup at Carolina. Cook=a backup at Miami. Costa=an undrafted free agent. Livings=an underachieving starter at Cincinatti that they couldn't wait to get rid of. Build this line back up and hopefully things will improve.
  14. I consider myself to be a very unbiased person. I thought the "I get to play because my daddy is the coach" stuff stopped once you get to high school athletics. This situation now reeks of favoritism.
  15. Hopefully Walker is healthy enough to play effectively tonight. If Hunter is the quarterback then hopefully he can spark the team like he did last week. It's been a tough year for the Tigers but we have to remember how young and inexperienced a team this really was/is.
