I sat in the middle of the Malakoff fans and they were painfully loud. Stood the whole game and also screamed at the top of their lungs the whole time. I had to put my hands over my ears and watched the game on the jumbotron.
Good for them. - great crowd.

Timpson looked really good offense and defense. Talent all over the place.

Gunter is a very talented team, no doubt. One thing that must be observed is Tidehavens ability to adjust their defense to different offenses. They will shut down quickly any play schemes. I have to say Tidehaven has been holding back their full potential the last two games. Almost like they were resting for state. I am very confident Tidehaven will be State Champions.
I seeTidehavan has a good defense but to go into overtime twice including a double OT to "save" something for the final? Cutting it pretty close I'd day.

I have to go with Franklin.

No way I would bet against Franklin.

Gunter will be favored by the computer rankings but many will favor Canadian because they lost by 1 point last year and Gunter lost more from gruduation. Despite the losses Gunter has been great in all 3 phases. The Jacksboro game because we didn't shut them down as we have every team we played looks like chinks on Gunter's armor. i saw Jacksboro and they executed very well on offense for a half, The second half we gave up 6. I give them some credit - they are probably the 2nd or 3rd best team we played. Add better defense and they would have been very dangerous.
At no point did i think they would ever stop Gunter which they did not. But I was pretty sure Gunter will stop the bleeding and pull away, which they did.
i look for a battle (again) in Ablilene.

PLowe in 2019 & the Sloan/Hellman combo last year. I agree with your sentiment about spreading the ball but have felt all year they lack the big play RB. Actually think this year is a shootout unlike last years defensive game tho
2019 Clayton Reed was in the mix too infact was offense MVP of the state final. Sloan/Hellman ran a lot of plays from the slot /wing not always RK per se.
No doubt we lost some great impact players off of last yeart's team.

2022 y’all had Bennet. He was a stud and game changer on offense and defense. Also Hellman at Flex that was a stud. Not arguing with you, just saying y’all did have some dudes last year.
Of course you are right about Bennett and Hellman. And Lowe befor that. I really mean we don't typically have gaudy stats from the RB position but there have been some huge game changing plays from that position. You probably remember more details about Gunter than I do and I hardly miss a game.

Jacksboro sure gave Gunter some fits last night. I think the Jboro offense is more intricate in the passing game but the Jboro QB reminded me of Cavalier. Biggest positive for Canadian is that they actually have a defense. GT just doesn't have the stud RB like years past, instead relying on Overman and a bevy of WR's that will play in the backfield. Two great teams and staffs, winner heads to Arlington and claims another title.
Who was stud running back for the 2019 and 2022 championship teams? Gunter has somwhow put up 845 points this year. Another way to put it is that we don depend on one stud running back. The ball gets spread around, by design. The QB had over 200 yards because that is how the option read. He is a stud though, all 145 pounds.

The last time we played Gunter in 19 the score was 22-21.
2019 Daingerfield went up 21-0 in the 1st quarter on Gunter. I thought wow this might be tough season. Gunter scored 22 the rerst of the way and won. But then lost to Pottsboro by 2 scores. Gunter did pulled it together and won state that year.
Gunter and Daingerfield played two other games in pre-distric for one and playoffs for the other one. I beleave Gunter won by about 3-4 scores on one and 2 scores on the other. No bullying in there.
DF had great atheletes and were one of the best teams we played all 3 times. If it comes down to Gunter vs DF trust me we have huge respect for DF.
There is this matter of Gunter vs Canadian that happens first though. These are usually awesome games and I get butterflies just thinking about it. I hope we get to AT&T -DF or Tidehaven we'll take it. Canadian is a huge obstacle.

Yes , Gunter has numerous injuries (as do most teams). I dont think posters know how good Comanche is. I say GT 28 - 15.
What is Comanche's biggest win that puts them within 13 of Gunter?

I don't think Comanche is much better than say Bells. Gunter by 40 at least.

The kids play all season in open stadiums. To get to the finals at AT&T and then open the roof would to me lessen the awesomeness of the experience. The place is the greatest for high school championship games. open the roof and its just a big stadium.
I have been to the games many years and I would not enjoy it near as much if it was open .

Nothing against the school but the UIL should have cut ties with a school that is not really UIL and can play or forfeit any time they feel like it, leaving their opponent high and dry. Blooming Grove should be the team playing Gunter. Win or lose they (BG) still should have been the team that went to to the playoffs.

Its a free country but I bet you don't know the man. there are holding and false start and other penalties that happen and it is what it is - a penalty. Pretty sure Gunter and Newton have played only once and that was 2017. If we are fortunate enough to get a rematch this year hopefully our guys will behave.

Who is your replacewment #1? You will be hard pressed to find any team whose opponents have winning records. especially when every one of them has a loss from that team.

Gunter is a great program, also being one of it not the biggest school in 3ad2 helps as well

Looking in from outside I think they are better than they have been in quite some time. They should go deep in playoffs and then who knows?

I like that stadium but they need more people selling tickets after that playoff game in 18'. Hopefully they got it figured out by now. Lol
For visitors - Gladewater is very nice.

Last year's game was for the ages. This year I think both teams are better. No guarantees either of us gets there, but my money is on it. And no, Gunter can't forget about Newton (not there yet). Would like another shot at them. So the answer is yes Canadian CAN be Gunter - they've done it twice before. It would be a toss up game and won't be over til it's over. Just opinions here - other teams we both have to get through before this happens......again.
