A lot of kids have issues these days mainly with authority or being told what they need to do. I don't think old school works anymore, I would have done anything the coach told me to do to make the starting team, nowadays kiddos just as soon walk away and go vape with their buddies. I don't know what the answer is but the coach and young'uns have to make that connection, bigger schools with a lot of players a coach can coach old school small school with little to chose from is a lot harder.

    I agree

I do not know how true it is but heard Crow (EF) kicked one of his best returning DE/TE out of athletes last week. From my understanding his DE/TE is a big contributor on both sides of the ball. This will make a big difference if they are referring to #18 Deuntae Harrison.

Don't know any details. I do know Crow and the kid have had issues for a while. Kid played hard his freshman year. The issues or disconnect between the player and coach caused his production and effort to nose dive his sophomore year. The kid has mentioned transferring to Carthage, but he won't see the field there. He better choose somewhere else. I am not blaming or defending Crow or the player because I do not know the details. Just stating what I saw.

Longview has 4 consecutive weeks of HUGE matchups this fall.

Week 3 - vs South Oak Cliff (the big one that everyone is talking about)

Week 4 - vs Ruston, LA (this game, not enough people are talking about it. Ruston won the Louisiana 5A state championship last year and was in the state title game a year before. HC Jerrod Baugh use to be OC under King at Longview).

Week 6 - vs Rockwall (11-2 last year)

    Week 7- @ Forney (13-2 last year)

That's a tough 4 game stretch. Thank goodness for the BYE in Week 5.

A tricky Week 1 game down in Lufkin, so should be a fun schedule.

Ruston returns quite a bit too

This is Garrison's tentative schedule .... the North Webster (LA) game contract has not been finalized .....

N Webster coach took another job and they just hired a replacement this week. That may be the hold up

Coming for what?  Dude defending a Coach that's talking out his neck on Smoaky but can't coach defense to save his life. Let it make sense

In the Coach's defense, I dont think sharing a tweet without a quote is "talking out his neck". He is just doing what all coaches should do and promote and share. They know those kids arent running 22mph. They are just trying to generate something positive for those kids who had a bad season. Is it the right way to generate some positivity? I think I would have gone at it at a different angle, and it looks like the rest of you do too 😅

I had forgotten about the LSC adding those schools from the pacific northwest. I've said before i think they would fit very well in the GAC logistically and competitively. East Texas has a lot of D2 talent add in NW LA and the DFW area and i think that will help them even more. If kids will go to Monticello AR or Weatherford OK i think they'll go to Marshall.

I wish they would join the GAC instead. They would fit perfectly in that conference for all sports, not just football. GAC has some good baseball too.

He went to Evangel for a visit but wasn't accepted for what ever reason, he fininished the season at Waskom.

Sorry for the bad info. A person at Waskom told me that at one of Waskom’s basketball games.

I was at that game last year.

I would say Waskom beat Waskom. They had like 5 unforced fumbles.

They had a couple of unforced and a couple of forced. The first fumble was forced by a linebacker that hit the fullback. I was at the game too. However it happened, EF beat Waskom, win the game, however you want to classify it.

  11. EF beat Waskom last year 😜. Waskom’s best player from last year transferred to Evangel in Shreveport. He may be back in Waskom, I don’t know. But I know for sure he left to go to Evangel earlier this year.

Yea they should be happy.  How were their sub-varsities?  I know they didn’t have a JV

EF brings back the majority of their varsity team. They lost 2 seniors that contributed. I may be missing one but I can only remember 2. Last year's experience should help them.

    They graduated a lot right?

Yes, you are right. I guess I should have taken out the "pretty good" and just said they would be in the mix for a playoff spot 😆. Not saying they make it, just saying they will be in the mix.

That tournament is loaded with ranked teams. Whoever wins that one has some bragging rights.

It’s a great tournament to attend. Like you said, some really good teams which leads to really good games.
