  1. Thanks for the heads-up. I'll keep an eye out for the logo, and if I find a good enough image, I'll change the helmet in a future update.
  2. Thanks for the compliments, guys. I can make it a weekly thing if you guys want to. I used to do this on another board several years ago. Let's just say...I wasn't feeling it too much the last couple of years. :) I'm a self-employed web designer by trade (work for myself and my boss is still a jerk, figure that one out), as well as a football helmet junkie, so I make time to do stuff like this once in a while. I've got the individual helmets on my computer as well, if anyone wants one for sigs or avatars or stuff.
  3. Oh, you guys will be on top soon enough. Had to give us dregs a chance first. :) Thanks. Could be worse...I almost split it up into the "I-30 Division" (which we're all alone in first in...for now) and the "I-20 Division." Since there's an even 4 teams along each Interstate. Just bear with me, I get stupid ideas sometimes.
  4. OK, I'm just testing this out. Not much of an artist, but I wanted to see how this turns out on an actual board. If the graphic is too big, let me know and I'll try to shrink it down. Got the logos from wherever I could find them, sorry if they're a bit skewed or not up to date. These are next week's games on here; again, just a bye week test. Couple of notes: 1) I didn't draw the helmets from scratch, obviously. Photoshop template. But you work with what you got. I also claim no ownership over anything on here. 2) I saw Mount Pleasant's helmets from last year. Nope. I'll stick with the Mizzou helmets. 3) I stink at stripes, so don't look for those either. 4) Why Greenville on top? Because it's my graphic, that's why. :) 5) That's about as detailed as it's gonna get. You guys are smarter than I, you can handle the team/game notes yourself. :) If ya'll would rather I not do this, I won't. Just thought it'd be a bit different.
  5. Well, so much for undefeated. We lost to Princeton, 46-34. No quit in our team, though...we're still a work in progress, but much better than the last four years.
  6. Thanks! We know it won't last long, so we're enjoying it while we can. The last four years...well, I wouldn't recommend it, I'll put it that way. Honestly, we were just looking for any kind of improvement this season, any at all, and I think we've gotten it. Good luck the rest of the way to you guys as well.
  7. I dunno...we're still undefeated right now, so...
  8. Pile on the gravy. Greenville 27, Royse City 24. GVL spots R-City 21 points in the first quarter, holds them to three the rest of the way. Lions go 99 yards, 2 feet, 11 inches in the final four minutes to pull off the come-from-behind victory. GVL is now 2-0.
  9. Yep, first win of the decade. Last one was November 2009. One game, and already our best season in years. Anything else this season is just gravy.
  10. Thanks, all. But I don't think I'd move us out of 8th just yet. North Garland is not exactly the fiercest of teams, it appears. Don't get me wrong, I would have gladly taken a win over a bunch of blind toddlers with narcolepsy to get rid of that streak, but let's see how we handle Royse City and Princeton (both teams we lost to each of the last two years, four in RC's case) before we start climbing any rankings charts. Baby steps.
  11. 40-game losing streak is officially over! GVL took over the fourth quarter with 17 straight points and survived a last-minute TD and onside kick attempt to defeat North Garland 24-21!
  12. Time it so you get there around 7pm. There'll be plenty of parking. There's plans for a rec/event center north of the stadium where the hay bales are. At least, there were. City Council put a large dent in those plans this week. There are two reasons for no home side parking: 1) GISD is cheap. Really cheap. Like "they only replaced the torn-up field and track this year because UIL threatened them with an all-road game schedule if they didn't" cheap. 2) The various Greenville student groups set up their fundraisers all along the walkway between the entrance and the home stands to sell their wares. But yeah, mostly 1. Not sure what's worse, the no home side parking, or the embarassingly small visitors' stands. Lack of off-season participation...I don't know for sure, you never know what's in other people's heads. I do know that 40 L's doesn't exactly do wonders for morale.
  13. I gotta vote for Rockwall-Heath (new varsity team, no seniors) going into Highland Park next week.
