  1. I just heard about Charlie's accident last night. My heart goes out to him and his family. My oldest son played football and was in field events with Charlie, and he thinks the world of him. All of the things that parentofredheads said are a perfect description of this young man. Although I haven't seen him in a few years, I can see his smile right now. We've also heard that he has developed pneumonia, so everyone please pray for him. God bless Charlie and his family.
  2. James Horn who graduated from Big Sandy High School in 2005 was killed in an auto accident early Tuesday morning. James was a lineman for the Big Sandy Wildcats. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8pm at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Funeral services will be at 10am Friday at Still Water Worship Center in Liberty City, burial will follow at Kilgore Memorial Gardens on Hwy 31. Please remember the family in your prayers.
  3. If the Crockett board chooses Coach Turner and he accepts, it will be a great loss to the Big Sandy program. Coach Turner and his staff came in last year and took the football team to the first round of the playoffs which was better than most expected. In response to some of the comments I've read here; I believe Coach Turner knew exactly how much "talent" was here but was up to the challenge. Discipline, focus, and hard work produce positive results in the most unlikely situations. I also believe that his looking for another place to go centers more on the lack of communication and support he's received from the administration and board. Coach Turner is a great motivator and I believe he could have prevented the loss of at least some of the coaches that were not renewed or resigned if he'd been told what the problems were, and given a chance to help correct them before the action was taken. I know that he and some of the coaches had not been given any warning that there was a problem. Probationary contracts or not, they deserved better and I believe most would have done what was required to stay. I hope if he and the other coaches left that are looking stay that there is an effort to improve in that area for the sake of the kids that have been put in this situation of uncertainty and instability in the program. They deserve better.
  4. We're proud of the Union Hill Bulldogs and their success this year! Take it all the way!
  5. The band is doing a great job, keep up the good work! I'm glad to see the enthusiasm and really enjoyed Mr. Smith's contributions on the tuba, etc. during the football games. Best of luck during concert season!
  6. if this comment wasn't so silly it would probably make me mad....poster obviously wasn't at the game, and doesn't know anything about the Big Sandy Wildcats who never "fail to compete".....
  7. This is a very important election for Big Sandy ISD and I encourage all to cast their votes on Saturday, May 13th. There will also be two more days to early vote on Monday May 8th from 10am till 1pm, and Tuesday May 9th from 12 to 3pm. Those of you that aren't of voting age, please encourage your parents and other relatives or friends to vote. If you live in the district and especially if you've attended the board meetings you know that it's time for a change, especially in the leadership position of this board of trustees.
  8. Give your son our best Catpride for his service on our behalf:love: Hats off to you also OBTS for raising your little boy right, sometimes it shows when we least expect it ...
  9. One of the most memorable concerts was the very first one I went to in 1979 or 1980, it was Robert Palmer in the Music Hall in Houston. It was a simple set but fantastic show that had everyone out of their seats for most of the show. I also had 5th row seats! Music lost a great talent with his passing, but I'll always remember my first concert that happened to be him. I saw about 20 concerts during my year and a half in Houston, you name them from the early eighties and I probably saw them. It was a great time that I'll always remember.
