It's easy to call this one for USC in a rout, but I'm gonna be pulling for the Nittany Lions...

The main article can be found here. Lest this forum turn into an echo chamber, I thought it might be interesting for some of you to interact with the points brought forth in this essay.

So maybe something more akin to the "Jesusland" parody that followed the '04 election: You might also want to look into the Nine Nations of North America -

Rick Warren, Obama and the Left...
UnknownLegend replied to UnknownLegend's topic in Political Arena
It's later than you think. With the MSM in his back pocket and having tingles run up their collective legs, it shouldn't be too difficult. Watch for every minor accomplishment to be lionized and every misstep attempt to be ignored (see: Clinton, Bill). This is going to be the antithesis of the Bush presidency. -

Rick Warren, Obama and the Left...

I think he, like Clinton, will spend 4 (or 8) years attempting to ensure his legacy... take that how you will. ;) -
Rick Warren, Obama and the Left...

That's the thing... I'm not sure if it's a case of naivete, ignorance, or just downright arrogance but I don't think Obama truly understood the divisive nature of the Democrat party. While the Republican camp has a broad spectrum of adherents, ranging from the more secular "libertarian" wing of the party to the theonomic "religious right" contingent, there is generally more of an approach of forsaking the petty skirmishes to win the broader war for Republicans than the Democrats. In recent years (and especially those spent in DC) I have observed the pervasive mindset of entitlement amongst the Democrats... such that each frond of the fringe thinks themselves the most vital aspect of the Democrat party. The Black Caucus says: "The candidate better make us happy or we won't turn out!" The Planned Parenthood/Abortionist lobby says: "The candidate better make us happy or we won't turn out!" The Feminazi NOWers say: "The candidate better make us happy or we won't turn out!" The GLBTers say: "The candidate better make us happy or we won't turn out!" So, candidate Obama promises each group the moon and is everything to everyone... he speaks the typical liberal agitprop, appeals to the moderates with a "reform" meta-narrative (see: "change") and even throws the evangelicals a bone by buddying-up with the current religious rock star (see: Nixon/Reagan and Billy Graham). As a result of all this (and enough weary Republicans sitting this one out) the Democrat candidate wins... and now it's time to pay the check. This recent flap is but a harbinger of what's to come. -
Interesting... the Left-Wing of the Democrat party seems obsessed with snatching defeat from the jaws of possible victory with this cannibalistic fervor to impose a narrowly-defined Leftist paradigm upon Obama's presidency: WSJ article Yep... this is gonna be a helluva four years.

So does this mean 4 years of McCoy/Shipley-type media manlove for Garrett Gilbert and Cade McCrary? :smirk:

Great kid from a fine family, wish him the best of luck in all his endeavors at Texas State... -
Meh... that's like saying that Strychnine is about as lethal as poison.

Hey man, no prob. I wasn't brushing you back or anything, I was sincerely curious - as I hadn't heard anything along similar lines since Dave Campo was in Dallas. ;)

Wheres all the Greg Davis haters?
UnknownLegend replied to frogman's topic in College Football/Sports
Good point... :hmm: I for one would like to take this opportunity to credit Greg Davis for whatever he did to put Colt McCoy in a position to take the entire Offense on his shoulders and will Texas to an excellent 11-1 season. Great job, Coach Davis. -
Heh heh heh... either you're far more clever than I thought, of you just left yourself wide open.

That's a no-brainer for Major. Not even a lateral move for him. He's in the cat-bird seat to be running UT one day. He'd be wise to stay right where he's at.

Link or citation? I'm not hearing this from anybody that I know of close to the program and I'm surprised to hear of it... could you maybe give some reference to where this talk is coming from? Orangebloods doesn't count. ;)

While true, there are nuances to this label that are being overlooked... for one, the title of "system QB" presupposes that the player is in a style of Offense that allows one the appearance of exceptional statistical success without the usual hindrances found within more conventional systems. For example... the QBs in a "Spread" and/or "Run & Shoot" system will typically have a far higher completion percentage+passing yardage+TD/INT ratio than the QB in a more "Pro Style" Offense. Though, more often than not, the amplification of the statistics is hardly an equivalent indicator of the actual skill-set of the QB. Last year, Colt Brennan's statistics easily outshined those of Matt Ryan... however, I don't think anyone would argue that Ryan certainly appears to be the better NFL prospect. There are numerous other examples that attest to the same. To make a long story short: I would put more stock in the above-average stats of a "Pro Style" system QB than the gaudy numbers of "Spread style" system QB.

OU minus Murry for BCS Championship.
UnknownLegend replied to chsspiritguard04's topic in College Football/Sports
You show your youth there, friend... for there is always something to say. UT fans will keep harping on "45-35" until the results of next year's RRS, and then (irrespective of the outcome) it will be something else. Even now there's ignorant and half-witted references to "UT-Norman" and "NCs followed by sanctions" by message board heroes and intarweb tough-guys. I think you would be best served to simply ignore all the nonsense and only respond to the posts of content by the precious few individuals here that actually have something worthwhile to say. The rest is mere cheerleading and small-man urination contests. -
