  1. Thanks for all the nice things being said. Like I said earlier, I have been so blessed. I actually got paid to spend my time on the ballfield or in the classroom with bright young minds. And now I'll be able to spend more time with my sons and my grandchildren. I know I won't be sitting around doing nothing---- that would probably drive me crazy. But I have some great options to keep me busy. The nicest E-mail I got was from a Dad of one of the guys I've coached against the last couple of years. It was really touching. Thanks again for all the nice thoughts and wishes. Remember, even though I'm not coaching, I'm not dead!! LOL Coach Steve Marrs
  2. Just to stop all the rumors, I am retiring at the end of this season. 28 years is a long time to be a head baseball coach, and I feel it is time to hang up the uni for good. No one is forcing me to retire, in fact, Coach Chancellor tried to talk me into staying. But now, for the first time in a long while, I can be the Husband and Father God wants me to be. I am thankful for all the relationships I have had over all the years. Those relationships will never end. Thanks also for the kids who allowed me to stay in the game I love so much. Hopefully I have helped you in some way to be good husbands and fathers. Your in Christ, Coach Steve Marrs
  3. I had the honor of coaching Matt when he was in High School. Not only was he a great player, he was an even better man. Selfishly, my heart is breaking with this news, but, as a christian, I know that Matt has won the greatest victory ever. Matt will be loved and missed by everyone whose lives he touched. I know that I am a better man for the time I got to spend with him on the diamond. Coach Steve Marrs
  4. Coach Tim Russell has been diagnosed with colon cancer. He will be undergoing surgery Monday morning. Please keep Tim and his family in your prayers.
  5. Brett McAfee, the Soph. shortstop at Pine Tree, was selected to play in the sophmore Sunbelt games on June 4-7 in Edmond, Oklahoma. The players are selected by the THSBCA. 40 players in the state are picked for 2 Texas teams to play against teams from Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, California, Arizona, Mississippi, and Canada. Brett was just selected the Offensive Player of the Year in District 13AAAA. He hit .515 with 6 Home runs this season.
  6. To one of my truly best friends in the business, Robbie, you are in our prayers!! Coach Steve Marrs Pine Tree High School
  7. LOL!!! June of '09 my age and experience will make it possible for me to retire if I want to. That being said, I still really enjoy coaching and have some goals I want to achieve. So, to answer the post, no, I am not retiring any time soon. Thanks for all of ya'll who are concerned about me!! LOL!!! Coach Steve Marrs
