Itasca Wampus Cats - I hate wampus cats.

My father was a newspaper man in communities similar to Longview & Texarkana. I have had a front seat to their demise. He was a newspaper man to his death. I had breakfast with him at an independent living community. As we were leaving the dining area, there was a gentleman reading the community copy of the paper. My father muttered “cheapskate” when he saw him as he didn’t have his own subscription. Don’t be a cheapskate!

I get that....and I agree it's an issue.
But it's aggravating to me that I'm paying MORE for the e-ditions to get a small fraction of the coverage we use to get.Get the SID's to wright the articles. Or journalism students. Or local college students. Anything but a freaking pregame capsule and a blurb write up on the "weekend edition" to wrap it up.
What I have seen is the local papers will cover the Big 3 varsity sports. If the other programs want coverage, the coaches or a parent need to submit to the paper. But volunteerism is dying …. that is why we appreciate what you do.

THIS!
You left out Craig's List, which took over classified ads more than 20 years ago.
I am in this business. It is only because I am a lifelong pessimist who has tried to save and invest everything I ever made that I am not bankrupt and living under a bridge.Actually I think Craig’s List and Facebook killed the Shoppers.

The loss of advertising & classified revenue has killed the newspaper industry and they are struggling to survive. 30 years ago, the papers covered Varsity, JV, Frosh, Middle school, Little League, Bowling, etc… . The papers were looking for the human interest stories to sell ads. 60 years ago, neighborhood shoppers took most of the classified ad revenue. Newspapers were able to survive with advertising inserts. The advent of the web based business now advertises direct to the consumer. The major city papers are struggling right along with your local papers.

Anybody besides me gone to the app store and written a review stating what the issues are? Or are we all gonna sit on Smoaky and complain hoping that @MattStepp gathers all our complaints and takes them to the developer?
Matt Stepp looks at this website and I suspect he has seen the two threads. This user base, is probably the best “beta” test group they have for feedback. If I was responsible for this app, I would be going to all the high school boards. If they get Texas correct, they can roll it out nationwide. I support their efforts to sell ads. We are the app’s customer to collect ad money.

DCTF also bought the app from someone, I assume. So they paid money for the app with the intention, I'm just guessing cuz I don't have a business degree, of making it something that makes more money for them!!! It's a novel concept, you know, to try and maximize the profits on a service you are providing.
They missed. The app is worse now than it was. No doubt about it! But do you think the goal was to make it worse to make more money? That doesn't make any sense! My guess is they will try to improve it knowing what the issues are. That's kind of how the free market works.
Or it will go the way of “Old Coach”

Folks might want to look at an app called “scorestream”. I want to support DCTF, but concerned whether my rising blood pressure using their app is worth it!

Good game by Tigers against a strong senior led D-1 team. Nothing to hang head about. Grow of team was evident in the second half.

Clunky. In past you could drill down to from the conference to the region to the district. I understand wanting to improve the program to sell ads, etc. But if the users enjoy using the core, not sure why you are reinventing it. After the misstep last year, it is sad to see a repeat launch issues.

Tough first game for the Tigers. Lone Star will be favorites.

Okay guys, you can pay your parking tickets with your NIL monies. Need to suspend Hall for the ULM game for being stupid, make him pay for the boot, and take a test on The University’s parking rules.

Not sure why folks think the board is responsible as they “oversee the policies of the district” and not the day to day. The Superintendent signs off on the snap shot numbers, but doesn’t conduct a personal head count. But someone will have to be the fall guy.

Hate it for the kids, but support the decision by the UIL. I have no idea who the responsible parties were, but suspect it was conspiracy of a combination of members of the athletic department, school personnel at the high school, and the parents of the three students. I did NOT watch the hearings, so my thoughts of what happened are just that … my thoughts.
During realignment, we witness speculation of Classification enrollment cutoff numbers. Fans are not the only ones speculating, so are the coaches. If your school is on the cutoff bubble, those coaches are calling to find out the school’s enrollment as the “Snap Shot” date approaches. You have several dads close to the program concerned about their kid’s playoff success by moving up a classification that unenroll their kid before “snap shot” date. The kid goes to class because they may be unaware what their parents did. Did the Superintendent know … possibly no. Did the high school principal know … possibly no. Were coach(es) aware … probably. Were parents involved … probably. Was someone involved with enrollment involved … good chance (but probably trusting the BS of someone else). Were others asleep at the wheel … definitely … teachers that took attendance of the 3 students and failed to sent kids to the office of figure out the issue.
Hate it for the kids and the current coaches, but the UIL has to make examples to prevent future behavior by schools. If any of the former coaches were involved, the UIL should publicly reprimand them and put them on extended probation.

Surely schools still have their leather helmets in the closet.

“The Dive” to avoid an opponent in the playoffs. It was a great teaching moment. Prior regime, but it tainted my view of the school and lost my respect.
