  1. That is not the argument being presented. It is a size weighted comparison apparently. For Atlanta it means your are really a much better team than LE pound for pound. One you beat them and two you are smaller.
  2. I am having a problem on who is better - LE or PG. LE beat PG during the season, but they have 134 more students. Maybe pound for pound, PG is the best team in Texarkana. You take away 134 students from LE, they might not have a football team especially if James, Middlebrooks, Fowler, & Batts are amongst the 134 students that drop out.
  3. Brownwood made the Regional Finals with an enrollment of 977.5 compared to Lindale (975), Paris (979), and North Lamar (1001.5). If you add Texas High to Brownwood's district (16-4A). Texas High would be the the 3rd smallest school out of 7 schools. By the way there are approximately 60 schools in 4A larger than Texas High and another 27 schools over 1600 in enrollment. Out of the 32 4A districts, Texas High would be the largest school in only 8 districts. Do numbers help - Yes. What was the problem with the Tigers in the 90s? Ultimately it takes coaches that get kids to believe in themselves.
  4. Texas High will be just fine next year. They may have difficulty in early games, but should be fine by district. There was plenty of varsity level players on the JV and Freshman teams.
  5. Unranked Texas beats #6 LSU. Next poll LSU is ranked top 20 and Texas still not ranked. Not a big deal.
  6. Eagle72 - Was that game played this year or a prior year? Did the kid play another down at Canyon High School. I have heard Canyon's point of view, Snyder's Point of view, the LE fans point of view, the LE broadcast point of view, and the Texarkana telecast point of view. The common thread was the officials did not bring their "A" game. If the officials don't control the game, you get this stuff.
  7. Several years ago LE quit playing Texas High because they could not compete and did not want players hurt going into district - a valid reason. The one thing that can be said - there has been some good football played in Texarkana in 2006. Best of luck to the Leopards.
  8. Congrats. I was honestly a bit surprised after the Kansas St game.
  9. Texas could be stout come March Madness. Big win. LSU seemed to have a good crowd and appeared to be a great environment.
  10. For all the poster laughing at Texas' schedule. I hope you are not playing the Citadel or the like. While I do not think Texas needs to be playing Ohio State or USC, I would rather give up a meanless game for a playoff system. Texas' 2007 schedule is actually better than 2006. No Div 1-AA schools. TCU is a legit game. Texas will always look out for Rice - we like the M.O.B. too much. The home schedule is actually entertaining. TCU, Rice, Nebraska, Kansas St (payback factor), and Tech. Arkansas St is the only throw the tickets away game and it is the first of the season. Central Florida is to kick off a new stadium.
  11. Not many players make All-State on offense & defense in the same year. Vasher accomplished the feat, but he was not Player of the Year. The two are tied in my book. Collins was my favorite player to watch at Texas High.
  12. Congrats to the Leopards. Bring the second state championship back to Texarkana. By the way I will set my alarm for 7am to wake Coach Brady.
  13. As a side note, Paris looks stout for next year.
  14. I am a bit surprised Mallett was not an unanimous selection of as MVP. I think the coaches should undergo manditory drug testing. If they were going to draft a team, they are not going to take Mallett first? This is not a knock on Smith, he had a great year and deserves a superlative award - Offensive Player of the Year. Congrats to all the players on their honors.
  15. Leach in my opinion is the worst coach Miami could hire. Miami has a reputation of being a "thug program" (whether deserved or not) and Leach marches to a different beat. Coker was a straight up coach and could not change the reputation of Miami. Leach as a gunslinger will only solidify the reputation.
  16. Link to TEXARKANA GAZETTE story Story according to LE
  17. Mavchamp, Thanks for you hard work on the site. I know it was alot of work. I will miss the Piney Woods award. While a Mav "homer", you were able to keep you objectivity. Best of luck to you. Smoaky, I you don't have some of Mavchamp's historical data, you might want to aquire it for your site. Thanks again, Bordertown.
  18. One player from each state is named. I will post a link to the Gazette article when available. Congrats to Ryan.
  19. Congrats to the player and fans at Whitehouse for a great season.
  20. Sorry for the delay in posting. Had to let my wife spend my money in Dallas. The pain of a dollar bill leaving my pocket did alot to dull the pain of the loss. 1) Congrats to Copperas Cove. On Friday night the better team won. Their defense stuff the run and their special teams controlled the field position. 2) Thanks to the Tigers for an entertaining game. It had all the suspense of the Rose Bowl last January. A pass bouncing off a receiver's hand and a slip of a receiver were differences of a potential win. The swinging gate and two passes to Mallett were images I will take from the game. Tigers keep your heads up, it was a great season.
  21. Often players enroll early. Jevan Snead did last year at Texas. A school has 85 scholarships to give with a max of 25 per year. If a player is enrolled in January he can be counted against a prior year. Kids sign and leave a program regularly for playing time freeing up scholarships. Three player announced they would not return to UT next year as well as a player leaving during the season. That frees up 4 scholarships to prior years. Is very common for Quarterbacks. Best of luck to Ryan. I enjoyed watching him for the last three years. I will not count his freshman year -- it was ugly!!!!!!!!!:yay:
  22. A pack of Bulldogs vs a pride of Tigers! I know who I would bet on, more like a catfight. Be safe.
  23. I think the bowl game will be more important. If the lose, they are back to where they were in October.
